The Paphos region

Steeped in history, Paphos, situated on the south west coast of the island was in ancient times the capital of Cyprus. The resorts focal point is the charming fishing harbour by Paphos Fort, lined with open air tavernas that serve a tempting menu of the days catch. Although there are many sandy and pebbly beaches within Paphos the best sandy beach in the area is Coral Bay, only a short bus ride away. Paphos has many historical points of interest including the district museum, the Tomb of the Kings, the Pillar of St. Paul, the mosaics of Paphos and many other famous archaeological sites. A short drive away is the legendary site where Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, is said to have been born from the waves.
Cyprus is renowned for sunshine - over 340 days per year and during the main summer period the temperature can rise to 40c on the coast - this is the time when people escape to the tranquility and peace of the Troodos mountain range and a day there is decidedly cooler!
The Kato Paphos / Universal District area
Apart from the historical sights Paphos has lots more to keep visitors busy and engaged - it has its own Waterpark where you can spend the day, has 3 local Golf courses, scuba diving and watersports generally are popular as are the numerous beaches where you can just soak up the sun and relax.
There are numerous first class restaurants serving delicious food, with all tastes catered from from Indian to Cypriot, and everything in between.

Have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this lovely home and , though never having given a review before, I really want to let others know of this gem of a Villa. This was such an easy booking to make, from the very beginning Ron and Gill have gone out of their way to help in any way at all. Instant confirmations, loads of helpful tips and advice...maps, car hire help if needed..all in all we could have asked for nothing more. As to the Villa, spotlessly clean! We have rented Villas all over the world, and believe me, this is by far one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Great quality linen too! A real treat. All 3 bedrooms were a great size too and with the shared pool only a few steps away , we could ask for nothing more! The use of a mobile phone, laptop, though we never used them....just goes to show the thoughts that the owners have gone to, a good little selection of books, games etc....its all there if needed. The welcome pack, awaiting our arrival was great...far more than we have had in other villas.....Ham, Cheese, Wine, Coffee, Tea, Water, butter, Eggs and more besides! We found the pool very quiet, loads of sunbeds and umbrellas ideal for a lazy day. We had a great holiday! |

This property was the best I have ever rented. The service from Ron and Gill was second to none, nothing was to much trouble. The Villa is in an excellent position, not noisy yet close enough to walk to all amenities, bars, restaurants etc. I can honestly say that this was a great holiday, made even better by the attention to detail in the Villa, even down to a laptop and mobile phone! If you dont like walking, take advantage of the many car rental firms close by, expect to pay 18 - 20 Euros per day or sometimes even less! I can recommend this to all age groups and am actively promoting the property to friends and family. Tom and Isabel (24/9/11 to 8/10/11) |

Right from the moment I contacted Ron and Gill to enquire about renting their villa the level of customer service has been exceptional. Ron was a mine of information, from recommending and arranging car hire to beaches and buses, all of which made getting to and around Cyprus very easy. The villa was perfectly located as it was within 20 minutes walking distance of the port (and larger supermarket) but had more local shops if you wanted something quickly. Being off the main roads the villa was very quiet and the pool not overlooked by anyone outside the complex. The level of customer service continued within the villa. The kitchen was almost better equipped than our own at home! A laptop with wireless internet meant we could keep in touch with everyone and even read reviews of waterparks and restaurants before we visited. The beds were large and comfortable, linen clean, pillows plentiful. There was nothing that we could have wanted or suggested to add or change (unlike some rentals we've stayed where it looked like something that the owner's granny died in 40 years previously - even down to the 1970's sheets!). Being 4 people in a villa with 3 showers and toilets was absolute luxury! The addition of the roof terrace provided somewhere with a little more "seclusion" and was ideal for our purposes, although not used very frequently as the pool area was generally quiet and the patio area delightfully shaded in the afternoons. The complex is small enough to feel very friendly but big enough to provide sufficient churn of holidaymakers to give it atmosphere. Even the security guards were friendly and helpful (a comfort when you're there on your own with children). Ron and Gill went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They provided a welcome pack to get us started gently and lots of helpful literature. There were plenty of maps and a good selection of books and cd's. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to people who prefer a quiet but friendly atmosphere, away from the beat of music and throb of traffic. When we didn't have a hire car we had no problems walking to any of the shops or using buses to get further afield. The pool is fairly small but certainly adequate to swim and play in. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols but at more than 40° in August those books will melt if left in the sun (sorry Ron)! |
Guestbook for Iris 2, Property C12
It's been great and all those extra little touches have made it special - hope to be back sometime - M.R. and family (August 2010)
This was our first visit to Cyprus, and Ron's villa on the Iris 2 complex was perfect for our requirements. Don't be put off by the word 'complex': Iris 2 is actually a fairly small collection of attractive residences grouped around a well-sized pool with handy showers and discrete toilet facilities nearby. Located within a fairly quiet residential area, the villa is just half an hour's stroll from the centre of Kato Paphos, although the older members of our party preferred to get there either by bus (costing just one Euro) or by taxi.
The accommodation itself couldn't be faulted. Clean and spacious, the villa was well-equipped with everything we needed for a great holiday, even down to WiFi access and a laptop computer! The ground-floor terrace has plenty of chairs and tables which makes it great to sit outside in the evening, either for a meal or just to enjoy a few beers! Although we didn't make much use of the roof-top terrace, we would imagine that sun-worshippers would find it an ideal place to relax, with plenty of loungers and even a large fridge - very handy for storing your beers and wine!
We can't thank Ron enough for providing us with such a comfortable place to stay, and his attention to detail and kind assistance, both prior to our holiday and during our stay, were very much appreciated. If we ever return to Paphos, we'd be delighted to stay in the villa again, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any group of four to six people looking for a peaceful place to stay at very reasonable cost.

September 2010.
I rarely feel bothered to write in these testimonials but felt I must this time. Ron and Gill made us feel so welcome from before we even stepped onto the plane. Nothing was too much trouble. We were traveling over the Xmas period, which meant that shops would be closed and they kindly offered to do a shop for us so that we weren't without food including substituting items in their normal welcome pack. I have never been to a place that have gone so out of their way for their clients and we travel a lot!
The house itself is very well situated, well laid out with everything very well thought out, with relation to anything we might have needed during our stay.
As I am hoping relocate to Cyprus in the future, we go there very often (sometimes three times a year) and I will definitely check the availability of this property first!
