The Paphos District
Very popular destination for a relaxing holiday in the sun where the weather is good the majority of the year. For the historically minded, Paphos is a World Heritage site. The Castle in the port and mysterious Tombs of the Kings are all well worth a visit. The many roman remains and beautifully preserved mosaics to be found in Paphos and the surrounding area are numerous and stunning. Within an hour and a half's drive futher inland are the popular Troodos mountains offering skiing in winter and wonderful walks during spring and summer. The beautiful harbour in Paphos is full of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops. Boat trips and scuba diving trips can be easily arranged.
Kato Paphos area
Paphos has a beautiful harbour area which is within walking distance and has a wide choice of restaurants, pubs, bars and shops. Refer to www.CyprusEatOut.com for recommendations but prepare yourselves and don't miss out on the local Meze. Boat trips, fishing trips and scuba diving can be arranged locally. This is the tourist area. Local beaches are popular and swimming possible. Go-karting, jeep safaris and golf are all popular and available. The three golf courses closeby are all within a half hour's drive. For a completely different atmosphere drive up and inland to Ktima Paphos (the old town) and explore the covered market full of craft, souvenir, and coffee shops, outdoor cafes and beautiful views to the sea. .
