The Paphos region
Paphos is said to be one of the most beautiful parts of Cyprus. Set upon lovely sandy beaches such as Coral Bay and home to some of the islands best archaeological sites it is a very cultural area with plenty to see and do. Visit the Tomb of the Kings these impressive underground tombs date back to the 4th century BC. They are carved out of solid rock with some being decorated with Doric pillars. High officials rather than Kings were buried here, but the magnificence of the tombs gave the locality its name.
Whatever your tastes there is something for everyone. There are over 600 bars and restaurants and clubs in and around Paphos. The food is good value and ranges from contemporary and traditional cuisine. There is a picturesque harbour within a 15 minute walk with it''s ancient castle, here you can relax in a number of restaurants or take a boat trip around the coast. There is diving and paracending available, along with fishing trips. Within a 20 minutes drive there are 3 championship golf courses. A short walk to the bustling old town and the daily market is well worthwhile.
The Kato Paphos / Tomb of the Kings area
The Municipal beaches (look out for signs) in Kato Paphos are good, with some facilities. A nearby one can be found by driving towards Kato Paphos, passing McDonalds on the left, straight over the roundabout with Super Home Centre and Debenhams on your left and straight on at the next roundabout past a night club on the left with a Paintball bill board on its roof. head all the way to the end where the road joins Poseidonos Avenue in front of the Amathus Hotel, Bear right, continue on the coast road and a Municipal beach is signposted on the left after 400 yards.
Another good Municipal beach with a beach bar and lifeguards can be found by turning right at the roundabout with the night club on the left with a Paintball bill board on its roof and, driving straight on the dual carriageway, past a big church on your left until you get to a busy set of traffic lights with Begonia Garden Centre on your right. Straight on at the lights will take you onto the Tomb of the Kings Road. Look out for Municipal beach signs on your left after 100 yards or so.

This is the first time we have chosen a "villa" holiday over an "all inclusive hotel" for a very long time and we were certainly not disappointed. Villa Alannah is very spacious and although there were only four of us in our party there was plenty of room to accommadate six people. We really enjoyed the private pool and the location of the villa is excellent. We were in cyprus for a family wedding as well as a holiday and although we did book a taxi to get us to the church the centre of Paphos is within easy walking distance. Shopping, eating out and visiting the sites was so simple and we didn't miss having a car at all. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Alannah and Cyprus Villa Rentals, where Jan was particularly helpful. One tiny niggle - we did think there would be WIFI in the villa and although not having it didn't spoil our holiday it would have been useful to keep in touch with family at home. |

It was brilliant to not have to hire a car and be in walking distance of the beach with its fab bar and the town centre. The pool was amazingly clean and the house is very well equipped. |

This is the first time I have strayed away from booking a package holiday and booked flights and accommodation separately which made me a little nervous. How wrong could I have been. Jan McKenna from www.cyprusvillarental.info was a pleasure to deal with and provided amazing customer service. She would reply to e-mails almost immediately and provided great detail to any answer I threw her way. We opted for Villa Alannah which was in a clean and tidy cul-de-sac of about 9 villas just of TOKR. The neighbours were privately owned and they were all very friendly. The villa was very spacious for our party of 4 adults and a toddler. The facilities were first class which included it's own private pool which was cleaned twice a week and I would recommend it to anyone. The location was key. It was literally 2-3 minutes walk from The Raffles/Phuket Chinese restaurant area on TOKR. We never needed to travel by taxi anywhere which is the main reason we booked this villa. A walk to the harbour was 25 minutes along the new beach walkway or 15 minutes past the Roman Hotel. Taxi Transfer Don't use anyone else but Rocky at www.iwantataxicyprus.com as he was excellent. He managed to provide a car seat for my daughter. He was very punctual and informative on where to go and what to do in Paphos and very competitive when it came to price. Bus Service First Class. It was 1 euro for a one way ticket or 2 euros for an all day pass. It went from the harbour to the water park or up to the old town or across to Coral Bay. Supermarkets We used 2 supermarkets mainly. Orphs next to Damon Apartments or Paps. We preferred Paps which is next to Debenhams at the harbour. Both were good but Paps was our preferred choice. Please note if you have a baby with you. We took across as many as possible but ended up buying some more. They were expensive at 12 euros compared to £5 in the UK. Restaurants & Bars The value for money was incredible. You could have a 3 course meal for around 13-14 euros. The set menus consisted of steak, chicken, traditional & pasta. For example if all 4 adults in our party opted for the 3 course menu it came to around 80 euros and that included 2 bottles of wine! Our favourites were Sysyfos which is a roof terrace restaurant, Farmhouse Tavern, Jackie Ma's Chinese & Metaxa's. We also ate at Fat Mama's, Phuket Chinese & San Marino which were all very reasonable. We tended to stay local to where we were located if we went for a drink. We drank in Pit Stop, O'Neills, Tramps, Alfie T's and The Queen Vic. All equally as good but I have to mention The Queen Vic. It was a little quieter which suited us with us having the little one and Gary, Tina and the boys were very hospitable. They had only been in charge for 3 weeks when we first went but very friendly and I hope they make a success of it. All in all a fabulous holiday from start to finish and somewhere that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. |

Lovely relaxing time at Villa Alannah
by Michelle, Tonbridge, England
on May 21, 2011
We had a lovely relaxing time in Cyprus even though we were busy visiting the sites. The villa was comfortable. The weather was great, (sometimes a bit too hot) and lovely in the evenings for eating al fresco. Thanks very much for all the arrangements.
Kind regards, Michelle

Thank you for rescuing our holiday!
by Alex and family, Surrey
on March 21, 2011
We are all back safely (too soon) - thank you for rescuing our holiday! It was night and day compared to the villa from another company we were in before. Villa Alannah was very comfortable, good standard of decor and cleanliness, very close to all amenities. Major bonus is the excellent opportunity for an early morning or evening walk or run along the pathway to Paphos harbour and back followed by a dip in the pool - picturesque and quiet first thing...
Thank you again Jan and best regards. Alex

I would have paid twice the price!
by Donna Owen
on December 8, 2009
Hi Jan,
I would like to thank you and your team for making our holiday really special. The Villa was absolutely fantastic in every sense. It was everything we wanted and more than we could have hoped for. It was so spacious and clean and the fact that there is air conditioning in every room meant that we could cool down any time we wanted.
The kitchen was well equiped and although we never intended to, we ended it cooking a meal there on a couple of ocassions.
When we got there and walked in and saw the pool we were all blown away and when we actually stepped outside and saw the beach pretty much on the door step we all thought we were dreaming. I can tell you we went up to the roof to watch the sunset over the ocean on most evenings. It was just beautiful. I would have paid twice the price!
As if all that wasn't enough, we soon found out that the Villa is also in a superb location. We found some great bars and restaurants about 3 minutes walk away and although we did hire a car, we found that the nearby shops had all the supplies we needed.
We did go into Paphos and Kato Paphos most days, sometimes we walked as its only about 15 minutes away and we found so much to do that it would be impossible to do everything.
The restaurants you recommended were great too so thank you.
Karen and Harry were lovely when they came to clean the pool and change the bedding so please thank them for us. I nearly stole their dog, molly, how cute!!!
As you know there were five of us on holiday, each with different ideas of what makes the perfect holiday. Some of us wanted to do sight-seeing, some wanted to read by the pool, some of us wanted to go to bars all the time (Guilty as charged), but I can honestly say that because of Villa Allanah and its location, we somehow managed to do it all so everyone got their wish
I would also like to say a special thank you to you for making the booking of the villa so quick and easy for us.
We have each been on many holidays, but this was definitely stress-free from start to finish!
I would and do recommend Villa Allanah to everyone. I think it would be just as wonderful for couples as families and I can't praise it highly enough.
Please feel free to give anyone who would like a reference my email.
Thank you again and best of luck to you and the team for the future

Definitely going back to Paphos
by Ms Reynolds
on December 8, 2009
Hi Jan
I just wanted to drop you a line on our return. First of all the Villa is lovely, great location (incidentally its only one block from the Elysium Hotel) so we knew exactly where we were which was very convenient. Its very spacious, nicely furnished and the outdoor area with pool is ideal.
We will definitely be going back to Paphos
Kind Regards
