BookThe Paphos region
Paphos is a year round resort. From beaches to historic monuments and beautiful countryside just a bus ride away, there is something that all the family will enjoy doing, although not necessarily all at the same time!
If you like a more active holiday there are cycling and walking tours, trips to the mountains, including skiing in winter. Then there’s also the diving, kite surfing and sailing!
And if golf's your game, there are a number of courses within easy reach, such as the recently completed Elea Golf Course, designed by Nick Faldo.
The Paphos region has something for everyone at any time of the year.
The Kato Paphos / Universal area
Kato Paphos is the tourist centre and has lively clubs and typical tourist bars and restaurants. That said, the recently pedestrianised and refurbished harbour promenade offers comfortable restaurants, both indoor and outdoor and is worth strolling down to in the evening for a meal or just for cocktails. Lunch or afternoon drinks in the shady harbour bars, overlooking the pontoons along with a bit of people watching is a good way to chill out too!
For those that like history and culture, Paphos has a lot to see and do. Close to the complex, as you walk to the harbour, there are a number of ancient sites. These are lit and impressive at night. In the harbour itself, is the old Castle and the mosaics. The Museum has a fine collection of Roman villas but it’s best to visit this early or late in the day, it’s very hot in the middle of the day.
Similarly the Tombs of the Kings is a very interesting place to go if you like ruins and historic sites. Its’ still relatively undeveloped, which we think adds to its charms. The Tombs are a Unesco world heritage listed monument. Further along, but still within 15 minutes of Paphos, is Coral Bay which boasts a lovely beach by day and some good restaurants for an evening meal.
Sirena George is in the 'Universal' area, which sits conveniently between Kato Paphos and Old Paphos Town (Ktima).
Old Paphos Town (Ktima) is within easy reach and offers a quieter experience with more traditional and higher quality restaurants and bars at reasonable prices. Set amongst old colonial style buildings in the administrative and commercial area of Paphos, this is ideal for couples seeking a more romantic atmosphere or families looking for a more traditional Cypriot experience.
Worth a half-hour drive (or even a bus ride) north is a quiet and unspoilt coastline featuring the small town of Polis and the fishing village of Latchi. A lovely day out for some swimming (even some surf) and, perhaps, a fish Meze for lunch. There are many water-sports available in Latchi too and a little further, the Akamas peninsula to explore.
Further afield there are the Troodos Mountains and Kykkos Monastery. You can either go ‘on safari’ with an organised tour or travel independently if you have a car. However, I would thoroughly recommend the jeep safari, as this takes you off road and you get to see some of the more remote parts of the mountains, plus the guides are very informative.
For those who like to get their 'culture' there are a number of ancient sites like Kourion, near Episkopi. Here there is a Greco-Roman theatre, the House of Eustolios, which has beautiful floor mosaics, the Acropolis, the ruins of a Roman-era forum and the Christian Basilica. The Cypriot Archaeological department has been working very hard to make these sites accessible and interesting. You can reach these sights by car or by bus.

Well this was exactly what we wanted from our holiday. A place to relax completely, to be able to go at our own pace and do our own thing. The house was a delight, spotlessly clean, well equipped... more Response: We really appreciate your positive comments about the house and hope to welcome you again when you decide to return. |

Short review as nothing at all to complain about it. Communication and support from owners was great, clear quick and informative. On arrival, their daughter Laura met us to make sure we were ok and gave us really useful information about the area and suggestions of where to go etc. House was superb; clean, tidy, very well furnished and equipped. Complex was the same and filled with very friendly and welcoming people who were genuinely pleased to see us there and enjoying ourselves. The description of the house, its location and amenities plus the surrounding areas and what to do are spot on. I would recommend staying here without hesitation and already starting to look at next year. Response: We really appreciate your kind comments. We always strive to meet our guests expectations and provide a high quality experience. We're looking forward to welcoming you again. |

We stayed at the Sirena George for a week in July 2012. We were a group of 6 girls (ages 20-25) and the location was perfect. Located about 15-20 mins from the main bar street and harbour, however further enough away to be able to relax during the day. We used "Stevies Taxi's" most days to get around as they charged 2 EURO per person to get to the main part of town. The house is located in a residential area and as such during the day we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. The people that were also staying there were very friendly. The house itself had everything you could possibly need as agroup of girls. There were plenty of clean linen and towels, and on arrival it was spotlessly clean. We made very good use of the verandah often sitting out there before heading for a meal / drinks in the evening and using it for shade during the day. Paphos in July is extremely hot so we made good use of the air conditioning too. Paphos itself is very nice. There are a good choice of restaurants down by the harbour however we tended to eat away from the main hotspots as the food was more reasonably priced. We had an excellent meal in the Japanese restaurant (number 1 or 2 on Trip Advisors). Booking the property was also very easy and we were met on arrival by the owners daughter woh gave us a quick low down of where was good to go and not. Overall we had a great stay at the Sirena George, and would highly recommend it. Thanks Ann and Cliff for letting us stay!! Response: Thanks for your feedback and we're really glad you enjoyed your holiday in Paphos. |
