The Phuket region

Phuket

Thailand’s largest and most popular island - connected to mainland Thailand by two bridges - Phuket is colourful and cosmopolitan, It is one of the world’s most famous dream destinations.

Phuket's mile upon mile of sandy coastline offers plenty of water sports, golf, nature and restaurants.

The dream of an idyllic escape into a tropical island world becomes a reality on Phuket, Thailand's southern paradise isle.

Shaped like an irregular pearl and measuring approximately 21 kilometres wide by 48 kilometres long, Phuket landscape is one of lush green hills, coconut groves, rubber plantations and a coastline dotted with a dozen spectacular beaches.

Unspoilt stretches of fine white sand are found along the entire west coast of the island.

Each sun-drenched beach has a character and charm of its own, and is separated from its neighbors by picturesque headlands and backdrops of wooded hills. Lapping the shore are the sparkling warm blue waters of the Andaman Sea.

Kata Beach

Kata Beach, Formerly a fishing village has developed in harmony with nature to meet the needs of a modern tourist destination. Kata Beach is one of the best in the whole Phuket and is divided in two parts: Kata Yai (big bay) and Kata noy (small bay) divided by a small promontory. The pleasant bay of Kata, just a few minutes south of Karon Beach, entices and charms many visitors with its white sands and clear waters.

Very popular with families, Kata is an all round favourite due to its spectacular palm-lined beach, great restaurants, shops, dive shops, lively but not raucous nightlife and varied . From May to October surfers flock to catch Kata's waves and from November to April the beach is alive with sunseekers. The small island Koh Pu is at swimming distance from the beach, separated from the beach by a colourful coral reef.
