About this location
The Chania Prefecture region
Cast by fate, some might say, where the cool foam of the Aegean meets the Libyan tepid breeze; a sea crossroads, meeting point of three continents: the great Greek island, Crete, a spot on the map of everlasting allure. It's the long and turbulent history that seems to charge this mystic point of energy, causing vibrations that keep the fantasy – and the seeker's interest – eternally alive.
Cradle of the Minoan civilization- among the most glorious of the ancient Mediterranean- the paramour of pirates and conquerors, both from the West and the East, homeland of great artists and poets, mother of brave revolutionaries and prominent politicians, contemporary Crete offers its visitor an astonishing variety.
On one hand, successive layers of the past, evident and easy to trace; on the other, today's riches: proud mountains with villages perched up high, beaches of exquisite beauty and seaside places, lowlands with fertile soil that yields crop unsparingly, but also towns and urban centres, densely populated and self-sufficient. Managers of all this wealth: the modern Cretans, a hospitable people, but also active, industrious, restless, witty, incurably poetic, communicative, authentic, special, and, for all these reasons, loveable.
Flisvos is located in Nopigia, a beautiful seaside village on Kissamos bay, just 5 km east of Kastelli, the province's capital, and 30 km west of Chania, the prefecture's capital.
Ideally built on the beach front, Flisvos is part of Raisaki's fatherly residence which was founded in 1900 and recently renovated.
If you feel the need to truly relax and rest and wish to get to know - or renew your past experience - with the Cretan scenery, and its joys (people, cuisine, way of life) then your choice for summer or winter holidays will drive you to our wonderful lands. Flisvos and its hospitable owners, Ria and Eftihis, will be more than glad to meet you, treat you and even take you with them to one of their excursions for fishing or visit the numerous beaches in the area.

"Everything you could wish for!"
What a wonderful place to stay! It really is right on the beach - the sea is only 3 metres from the balcony. The 100-year-old house has been beautifully and tastefully renovated, to a very high standard. It has all the modern comforts you could need, including a washing machine (which is great if you have young kids, and means you don't need to pack so much). The interior is very spacious and cool and airy when you've had enough sun - though there is aircon as well. The veranda gives an uninterrupted view of the mediterranean sea, sunsets and evenings spent spotting shooting stars. You could quite easily just stay at the villa and get everything you need from a holiday, but there are also 2 really fine sandy beaches within half an hour's drive (Falasarna) or an hour's drive (Elafonisi - one of the ten best beaches in Greece). The beach at Nopigia is also really good, though it is pebbly for the first few metres and then sand. It remains shallow quite far out which is good for children. The village of Nopigia is very untouristy and quiet, with two excellent tavernas and a new seafront cafe/bar just 10 metres along the beach which is an idyllic setting for a drink or iced latte under the trees. All the local people were extremely friendly - which brings us to the very special hosts at Flisvos Villas: Ria and Eftichis. They were extremely hospitable and helpful throughout our stay and made us feel so welcome. They gave that little bit extra which makes all the difference. It's not often that we would go back to the same place twice, but this is an exception!

Ria, Eftihis,Adonis & Angela are the most wonderful hosts, both to their lovely home and this beautiful island. They were so friendly and helpful as well as filling the house with fabulous Cretan produce (note - take hold luggage if you can - this way you can bring back Ria & Eftihis's fabulous olive olive - the taste is out of this world!).
The house was very well equipped - you could easily cater for a family, although we ate out at the taverna's most evenings. There are two excellent tavernas in the village, and Kastelli is just 5 minutes drive away for many bars/restaurants if wanted.
Would recommend a car as the shop in the village is quite small and also to give yourself the opportunity to see more of this lovely island.
Fabulous holiday . Ria - our thanks again for coffee... cake...olive oil.. and for taking care of us!
