The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

This is a majestic rugged coastline offering numerous secluded bays and sheltered coves, many of which are only accessible by boat. The area is backed by the towering Taurus Mountains some of which run straight down to the clear blue waters edge. This has created a double benefit for the area.
The coastline is protected from the prevailing northerly winds making the climate extremely benign and past difficulties in building modern highways has precluded the development of mass tourism. This does not mean there is little to do,adventure pursuits abound. For the more leisurely inclined, apart from the local beaches, there is Patara, voted one of the top ten in the world by the Sunday Times and the Lycian Way, one of the top ten walks, passes right through Kas.
Those interested in archaeology will find numerous sites. Patara, Demre, Myra, the Xantos Valley are all within easy reach. The sunken city at Kekova is probably best visited by boat. The region enjoys an average of 300 days sunshine per year.
Day-time winter temperatures range from 15-20'C whereas in July and August it can reach the high 30's. In summer and autumn the water is a balmy 25'C.
The Kas area
Kas is an attractive traditional Turkish town curled around its ancient harbour. It has developed from the remains of Antiphellos and there are still numerous Lycian and Helenistic artefacts in the area. The mountains behind the harbour are peppered with rock tombs and there is a largely complete amphitheatre on the outskirts of the town.
Kas (which means eyebrow in Turkish) looks out over a large bay which curves around the Greek island of Meis, the whole area is a natural haven for the numerous passing yachts and gillets. Narrow limestone paved streets lined with quaint little houses and colourful shops radiate out from the harbour, positively enticing the visitor to go exploring.Bougainvillea and aromatic fruit trees are everywhere.
There are numerous vendors, from little bazaars selling local produce to trendy boutiques selling more luxurious items in fact something for everyone. The town has a sophisticated slightly bohemian air which makes it very attractive to the cosmopolitan tourists. In the evenings the cafes and restaurants come to life offering a huge range of traditional food and Turkish specialities, the sea-food is of course outstanding. There are numerous bars and a sprinkling of nightclubs for the more lively guests.
Several organisations run adventure activities, canyoning, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, mountain trekking, paragliding, scuba diving, water ski-ing and white water rafting. The area is world renowned for scuba-diving in particular and novices are made very welcome. The harbour abounds with commercial boats offering ferry or private hire to the numerous local attractions.
Kas is the perfect destination no matter what kind of holiday experience you are looking for, a charming, friendly, laid-back little town full of history and with plenty of excitement to be found if you want it.

| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Dalaman: 160 km |
| Ferry: | Meis: 8 km |
The two closest airports are Dalaman (1 hour 45 min. transfer) and Antalya (2 hours 30 min.transfer).
During the summer months there are numerous charter flights into Dalaman and there are scheduled flights into both airports throughout the year.
If you wish to hire a car for the duration of your stay it is possible to do this at both airports from the usual multinationals however the journey from either airport is a little bit of a challenge to the unfamiliar, particularly at night. We would recommend a profesionally driven transfer. There is an excellent car hire company Andifli in Kas who will pick you up and return you at competitive prices, their drivers are both reliable and safe. If you agree to hire a car as well from them they will perform this service for the price of the fuel. We can put you in touch if necessary.
For the more adventurous visitor it is possible to fly or ferry to Meis (Kastelorizo) from the island of Rhodes. A small ferry, the "Meis Express" will then bring you to Kas in 20mins or so.

Guestbook for Bellevue
The apartment was lovely, really missing that amazing view! Mr RG York
Beautiful spacious apartment with lovely balconies. Ideal spot for an evening drink before going out for dinner in the pretty town below. The views are magnificent. We cannot wait to return. Mr TB Cambs.
Fantastic apartment-it felt luxurious. It was palatial for us as just a couple but would easily accommodate a large family/group. Great views from the balcony, good location, easy to dander into town but still quiet. Kas is a lovely town, don't be put off by lack of beaches as there are lots of different types of swimming experiences, particularly the beaches accessable by boat. Ms JS London
