The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The house is overlooking the whole town of Kas as well as both harbours. You even can see the Greek Island of Meis (Kastellorizo).

Sitting on the front balcony is never too hot as you will always have a slight wind from the mountains.

On the rear balconny most of the time you will have a shadow place with a view onto the mountains.

From our house it will take you approx. 10 Minutes walking downhill into the center of Kas or to the harbour. Walking up might take a little longer. Alternatively you might want to take the small bus (Dolmus) which does not cost a lot. from the bus station it takes you 2 minutes downhill to get to our house.

Büyük Cakil Beach: When you go down the Villa street and take a left, you will reach the pebbled beach with beach chairs, which are free of charge and some nice restaurants. We truly recommend the restaurant named „Ada“.

Kücük Cakil Beach: Is a small beach with rock terraces and free of charge beach chairs. You can reach this beach spot if you go down the street, turn right, pass along various pension assets and then take a left.

At the port: There is a sarcophagus behind the carpet shop at the pier. If you go behind the port on the right , you will then discover lots of cozy cafes with free of charge beach chair terraces. Delicious food and refreshing drinks are served and you have direct access to the sea and it's fresh breeze.

Olympos Beach: Take a car or Dolmus in the direction of the new port. Behind the port (direction of Kalkan) there´s a sand beach to your left. Along the whole stretch up to Kalkan there are some nice sand beaches, after Gökseki as well.

Kaputas: This is a famous and beautiful sand beach with stairs going down to the sea. Its a very popular beach and is located on the way to Kalkan.

Limanagzi: You can see this wonderful beach from the balcony of the villa to your left. You can go there only by boat. A round-trip ferry costs 10 Euros per person and it leaves from the old port every hour. Trips start from 10 am until the evening (latest version from 2011).

Old dolphin beach: was a dolphin domicile. Its a small and quiet beach on the way to Peninsula Yarimada while passing the new port on the left side.

Advice and tips on excursions and food :

Kas: Kas is an old, beautiful and a sleepy fisherman village which hasnt lost it's charm. There are plenty of nice corners, restaurants, beaches, cafes and shops if you want to have a look at or to stay for a while, comfortably. The small alleys are romantic and loving. A large number of sarcophagus from the long living ancient tradition of the Lycian culture, the amphi theater from the Greek era, the new and old port and the ancient city of Antiphellos should not be left inappreciated. During friday markets (at the new port) the town is vibrant and don´t ever miss the chance to experience it.

We recommend to you the following restaurants:

''Ora Kebab'' (Secret Garden) has a small hidden courtyard, a peaceful garden and delicious food. Ora restaurant is located between the old port and a small mosque , on the right side opposite the taxi rank.

The oldest cafe is ''Cafè Dennis'' in the village, by the big plaza above the spice street. Here, we would recommend a snack with fresh orange juice, such as ''Menemen'' (scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions and vegetables) or "Sigara Böregi" (see food).

On the street where our administrator lives, next to the pharmacy, which is opposite the small mosque and while walking up the mountain, past the amphi theater is Kas Camping to your left. You can have a swim, stay for a while and have a drink here in a peaceful ambience.

Büjük Cakil: Ada restaurant. It is romantic and directly on the beach.

Köfte Autobus: The road going down from the villas will lead you to a bus where you get very nice Köfte, even to take away.

Above Büjük Cakil beach, is Yesil Restaurant with a pizza oven located in an idyllic ambience on the mountain. Just follow the Lycian trail which shows a sign-post.

While leaving Kas drive towards Cerciler, Agullu, Antalya. Agullu is a village on the top of a mountain. After the second petrol station to your right, you will find a hidden garden with a restaurant and pizza oven. You will get the best Pide in the area, for a very good price.

Gömbe, Elmali

If you keep going in the same direction mentioned above, you will reach a crossing. Do not take the right following the sign to Antalya.Keep on going straight, towards Elmali. You will reach a beaautifull forest-mountain area. Gömbe and Elmali have still kept their traditional Turkish charm. The surroundings are wonderful, fresh and clear and you might even see turtles, wild donkeys and large herds of goats.

Do you enjoy mountains, water and forests? Then you should go to Ulupinar, may be on the way to or back from Antalya. Just after Kumluca in the direction of Tekirova, Kemer, & Antalya you will reach a hill surrounded by mountains and forests. On the heights there are plenty of restaurants and traut farm´s where you can have a break. Cool, romantic and delicious.

If you are above Agullu on a crossing and then drive towards Antalya,on your right it goes to Ücagiz (unfortunately this small sweet village has had manz tourists and the prices here are high, but is still worth a visit), which is a small village from where its possible to make plenty of boat trips . From here, you can visit the sunken city Kekova or to Simena, a moutain on an island , with a small village, lot's of tourist shops and the castle Kale Köy. You can see all this by making a boat trip. In case large groups of people we can always contact Kücük Yussuf, our admnistrator who can arrange something for you. The trip takes one whole day and you will visit Kekova and Simena, but also lots of uncovered swimming spots and a delicious barbeque will be organised for you on board.

In Ücagiz you can eat delicious food for cheap prices prepared by the best cook from the Mediterranian, named Hassan.

Tlos, Xanthos

There are overwhelming age old antiquities, old ruins, alot of history and a very well maintained castle Sakklikent.

There´s a big valley with a wild river where you can experience wild water rafting, which is a great adventure.

This village is nice where you can try traditional delicious food and bread baked by women. The huge sand beach is one of the best in the area. During spring the sea turtles lay their eggs here.

Opposite our villa, the Greek island (Kastellorizo) is frequented by the Meis-Express for 20 Euros round trip. Please consider your passport before going there.

Demre (befor Kale) , Myra

St Nicholas was originally from here. This village has a memorial church and many other sight- seeings.

Visiting the old town Kaleiciwith, with it's wonderful buildings, corners, ruins, shopping spots, port and restaurants is highly recommended. But outside the old town there are other good shopping possibilities such as on the big bazar.

The famous lime stone terraces.

For all fish lovers, there´s the big fish market. You choose a fish, then select any of the restaurants around the market and for almost „no costs“ the fish will be cooked for you, including the supplements. Highly recommended.
