Villa Sedir

About the home
I didn’t want to build just another ordinary concrete house, as an engineer, I wanted to reflect aesthetics of buildings (artistic, beautiful and still functional) which were built in the grandeur of our Ottoman past. ..through using special techniques, materials, workforce…and with art in mind.

BookThe Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Situated in the skirts of Taurus montains with easy access to clear and unpolluted Mediterranean waters, Kas is a charming town and one of the few places that hasn't changed much over the years. History, sea, sun, fine cuisine, simple and honest local people as well as Turkish artists and writers from big cities make Kas a desirable holiday destination.
Things to do: sea-kayaking excursions to the sunken city of Kekova, jeep safaris into the mountains, scuba diving/snorkelling, walking the Lycian trail, paragliding, mountain-biking with many downhill trails, Saklikent Gorge for canyoning, visiting St Nicholas-Santa Claus museum at Demre and also seeing Elmali Treasure consisting of 1,900 silver coins (inc. 14 extremely rare decadrachms) from the Delian League which is on exhibit in recently opened Elmali Museum, visiting Patara, famous for being a place of St. Paul’s missionary work and birth place of St. Nicholas aka Santa Claus. 12 km-long Patara Beach, voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times Online - Best of 2005.

We arrived at Villa Sedir in darkness and therefore did not experience the lovely views from the villa until the next day which was fantastic to wake up to. It did not bother me that the villa is... more |

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Sedir at the beginning of September. The villa is beautifully designed and everything about it is of a high standard. We were also very pleased to meet and talk with Sema about the villa which she designed and built, and to learn more about her story. As there were only 2 of us there was plenty of room. The living room is very spacious and comfortable and the kitchen is of a very high standard and well equipped with Bosch appliances and quality crockery, cutlery, and pots and pans. The master bedroom on the top floor was comfortable and has a balcony with possibly the best views in Kas. It was a great place for watching the wonderful sunsets and the lights of the town below. The bathrooms with walk in showers were very luxurious and as there were only 2 of us we were able to spread out into the adjoining second bedroom and have a bathroom each (there are 5 – one with a large Jacuzzi bath!). For a larger family the lower level would be great for kids. The pool is small but is ideal for cooling off in. It is fairly deep so people with small children should take care. The area around the pool contains sun beds and a sun shade and a shaded area has comfortable seating and a table which is ideal for breakfast on the patio. It also has great views. In order to get those great views you have to be up a hill. As we did not hire a car we walked it every day. Since we were last in Kas they have put steps alongside the road which does make it easier. Try to avoid it in the heat of the day. Walking down is fine. We used to walk up in the evenings with our daily shopping. A good bit of exercise after a day of relaxation. If you have fitness or mobility issues then you may prefer to hire a car. There is also a dolmus service from the town which stops about 250 metres above the villa. You must take a boat trip from Kas. They are great days out. We did our usual Kekova trip. The views from the castle in Simena are well worth the climb (and the entrance fee). They also seem to have discovered steps since we were there last. We also did a day trip to Meis (Greek Island). It is only a 30 minute crossing and is a very nice day out. It is very pretty and we had a great lunch there. Make the effort to climb to the castle for outstanding views. The colour of the water is incredible. Much of the time we just relaxed by the pool, admired the view and got a great tan. So we will be back and hopefully we can stay at Villa Sedir again. On our first day my partner asked, “can we come here again”. On our last day, she didn't want to go home! Thanks Sema. |
