The Kyrenia District

Northern Cyprus enjoys a typical Eastern Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and short mild winters. The northern coastline, which borders the Girne (Kyrenia) mountain range, is accepted as one of the most beautiful areas in the world in which to live. The natural beauty of the island, the lovely climate, the warmth and generosity of the Turkish Cypriot peoples and the abundant selection of fresh foods make Northern Cyprus an unspoilt and non-commercialised haven. Thiscountry is reminiscent of UK standards long lost, where hospitality, politeness and the general enjoyment of life are the daily norm.

Girne has many attractions, the castle frames its charming and tiny harbour, full of yachts and fishing boats. With the chique pavement restaurants, the backdrop of the jagged mountains behind and the calm sparkling sea in front, the harbour has an intoxicating serene atmosphere not bettered in the Mediterranean.

Karsiyaka area

The villa is on the outskirts of the picturesque and much sought after village of KARSIYAKA, with its fish restaurants and lovely local beaches (within easy walking distance) it is well placed to explore the numerous delights that North Cyprus has to offer. A short distance to the West lies the rugged, beautiful scenery of Korucam Burnu, where you can park and walk down to find numerous secluded coves and beaches, which you may often have all to yourself. To the East is the pretty, tranquil harbour town of Kyrenia (Girne). Further to the East are deserted beaches, which are home to nesting sea turtles, and monasteries lying hidden in cool pine forests

How to get there

Flights to North Cyprus (Ercan Airport) depart from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow (depending on departure dates) all are schedule flights and hence tend not to experience long delays. Currently, they all have to land in Turkey to refuel and drop off/pick up passengers- you will stay on the plane for what normally is about 50mins.

The villa is about 45mins from the airport, a taxi can be arranged or you can pick up your Car Hire at the airport and make your own way it is quite straight forward.

Taxi fares are good and Car Hire rates are very competitive (Ford focus Nov - March £12/day, April - June £15/day, July - Oct £20/day, fully inclusive including pick up & drop of at airport - at 2006 prices).


Alternatively, you can fly into the South (Larnaca airport is best) and we can arrange for a Taxi to pick you up. It takes about 1hr 45mins depanding on time and boarder crossing.
