Northern Cyprus is still relatively undeveloped for a Mediterranean island and there are many beautiful and historic places to see and explore. There are ancient ruins at Salamis, Soli and Vouni, mountain top crusader castles at St. Hilarion, Buffavento and Kantara, the old town and boat museum in Girne (Kyrenia) as well as the old towns of Lefkosa (Nicosia) and Gazi Magusa (Famagusta). Belapais Abbey, a 14th century monastery, sits fabulously on the cliff edge overlooking Karaman and is also a must on any visit.
The beaches and scenery along the Karpaz, or "panhandle" are spectacular and the drive all the way to St. Andreas' monastery, almost at the tip of the island, is well worth it. Many of the beaches are for turtles and early risers can join volunteer groups who clean the beaches, ensure the eggs hatch and the baby turtles make it to the sea. The sea is crystal clear and offers excellent swimming and snorkelling.
From Karaman, several walks are possible. For the more energetic, Ilgaz is about 5 kilometers away to the west and Zeytinlik is about the same to the east. There are also tough trails up the mountains and along to St. Hilarion Castle, through the pine forest. For the less adventurous there is always the option of a walk around the village with a stop at the local pub!

"A luxury home with all you need for a great holiday."
We stayed for two weeks. All the contacts with the owner were handled quickly. When we arrived we were extremely pleased with what we found. The decoration and upkeep was of a very high standard. The 'welcome pack' was excellent, several bottles of beer, some cans and two bottles of wine plus milk, bread, butter etc, all you'd need for the first breakfast. Plus there were lots of condiments , sauces, herbs and spices. This meant the shopping and cooking was easy. The rooms are airy and spacious and very well kept and furnished. The huge living area was great plus the kitchen was large. The outside areas were also great. Every room had balcony access. The pool area was good and, most importantly there were fantastic views northwards over Kyrenia and east and west along the coast and the Kyrenia hills which formed the backdrop to the village. There poolside loungers were good, only four though, and there was one parasol. The pool was in the sun all day and shade might be a consideration for some visitors. No buildings overlooked the property to any extent, except at the front, so there was privacy and the views over the tree tops and a few rooftops. The low level negatives are 1) the illumination in the lounge was rather dim. We found it difficult to read in there in the evenings and 2) if there were more towels it would match what is provided in many Florida rentals. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend the villa for people who do not want to be right in town with all the noise and bustle. It is not a basic rental which cuts corners to make money.

"The loveliest villa in Karmi"
We have stayed in Karmi for a number of years but this was our first time in Villa Zamani, what a treasure it is. From the first minute of pulling up outside the villa looked fantastic just like a castle. When we stepped in the well chosen furnishings and pictures were shown off by the streaming light from the windows it was like a top class hotel but with real homely feel. Everything had been thought of and the villa is well equipped with all the necessary kitchen equipment, there were even spices and herbs to use and a wonderful welcome pack of wine, bread, butter cheese and cooked meats. Then we stepped out onto one of the many balconies and the view was breathtaking the pool, the mountains and the sea, we spent many hours sitting drinking wine watching that view. We loved it and will be booking again for next year. The pool was a great benefit in the heat of mid june and there are not many in the village of Karmi, it was also a safe depth for us as not great swimmers. Karmi is a pretty village and has a real community feel and strangers are welcomed as new friends in the bars and restaurant.

"Zamani, perfect in every way."
We arrived late at night but knew before we even entered the villa that we had made the right choice. Zamani is not your average holiday let but a very beautiful home which we were so happy to have had the chance to stay in. Your every need has been taken care of and more, and we spent many hours just sitting on the terrace and never tiring of the amazing views, most evenings we had the company of "Olly" the owl (as we named him) The smell of melissa was heavenly, such a peaceful haven for us and if that's what you need then Zamani and Karmi are for you. Even though the villa is so spacious we never felt lost in it as it is beautifully furnished and is really homely. We were very sad to leave and hope to return, our best holiday yet, A special thanks for all your help in making this a very special holiday.

Beautifully appointed with lovely swimming pool. You need transport and there are plenty of beaches and places of interest to visit. Not suitable for small children.

"Breathtaking views in superb location"
The perfect villa to unwind after a busy year. The village of Karmi is beautiful - quiet, quaint, picturesque and extremely interesting. The views from the villa are spectacular - difficult to read with the surrounding visual feast to distract you! The villa is well appointed and we appreciated the comfort and quality of the beds. Lots of space for everyone - we had everything we needed. The pool was used daily and a great hit. with us all Karmi may not be for everyone but if you want stunning countryside, fabulous wildlife, walks from the door and a slow pace of life, it's the perfect place. We hope to return and would not hesitate to recommend Zamani to friends and colleagues.

"Villa Zamani - splendoured thing !"
We were pleasantly surprised that this villa is far grander than the photos online suggest. It is enormous- we even had a large dressing room with our main bedroom. Fixtures and fitting were of a very high standard. The views surpass those in any of the multitude of villas we have previously rented. They are truly amazing and 360 degrees!! Being so high near the mountain there were extra breezes which were welcome. It was also cloudier than the coast, though we really enjoyed this respite from the relentless July sun. There was a village shop, pub ( Crow's Nest) and an excellent restaurant (Levant) within two mins walk . Any further selection of services would require a car. The village is beautiful and reputedly one of the prettiest in Northern Cyprus.

Zamani is a beautifully designed and thoughtfully furnished villa that we enjoyed immensely. It is also very welcoming and homely - we felt as if we were staying in a friend's house rather than a holiday home. The accommodation is very spacious and well appointed and the views just stunning. We didn't want to leave and hope very much that we will be able to stay again. Thank you for sharing such a gem of a place. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who will treat it with respect.

"A luxurious house in the most picturesque mountain village of Karmi."
A very roomy, well designed house with exceptional 160 degree un-interupted views of the coastline, some 1000ft below and about 5/6 kilometers away at the closest point. All that is explained in the website is true without exageration and we would thoroughly recomend A Zumani to anyone who are prepared to treat this very well equipped home with respect.. Accvess road from the lower coast road is rather steep in places therefore a low powered car might be ill advised for this journey. This is the second time we have stayed at A Zumani and will be dis-appointed if we are unable to stay there again. The help we received from the agent was cheerful and first class.

"A great location"
The villa is fantastic and very well equipped - The location is also fantastic. North Cyprus has developed very rapidly, but this little village still has much charm and is very peaceful. A good location for activities with teenagers.
