Kaprun area
Kaprun and Zell am See are very close together and both towns have many shops, cafes and restaurants. The après-ski is lively and typically Austrian, there are many bars to choose from and several discos. There are over 40 restaurants in the area.
Kaprun:
The valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains and very attractive scenery. Kaprun Castle is ideal for sightseeing, dating from the 12th century and mentioned for the first time in 1280. The castle festival is one of the highlights of the summer programme of the Europa-Sportregion. Lasting two days, you are transported back to medieval times with parades, jousting, witches, jugglers, and magicians.
Zell Am See:
Nestling on the scenic shores of Lake Zell, Zell am See is a charming small town. You will find a wide range of shops, restaurants, cosy pavement cafes and off-slope activities in its medieval traffic-free centre. In midwinter the lake freezes over and can be used for ice skating and curling.
All year round activities & facilities include boat trips, golf, leisure centres, walking - with plenty of marked trails. There is also bike rental, tennis & squash, horse riding, sailing, surfing & other water sports, paragliding and aviation. For the less energetic there is a spa & sauna.
This is a great location from which to enjoy sightseeing flights as well as day trips & excursions to places throughout Austria & beyond.
