The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region

Great for skiing all year round because the Kitzsteinhorn glacier guarantees snow 365 days a year. Therefore in July , for example, you can ski on the wonderful powder snow on the mountain in the morning and sunbathe by Lake Zell in the afternoon.

Also great for Walking holidays, Mountain biking holidays with Bike rental, Après-Ski & Night Life, Aviation, Boat Trips, Climbing, Children's programme, Excursions & Day Trips, Horse Riding, Golf, Ice Sports, Leisure Centres, Mountain Guides, Paragliding, Sailing & Surfing, Sightseeing flights, Spa & Sauna, Tobogganing, Tennis & Squash, Water sports, Nordic Walking, Winter Hiking.

Zell am See and Kaprun are only 10 minutes apart by bus, and one ski pass covers both resorts and bus transfers. The bus stops are 1 minute walk from the flat. Kaprun and Zell am See form ‘Europa-Sportregion’.

There are 2 ski areas:

*Kaprun is near the Kitzsteinhorn glacier an it has a great range of runs and all-year skiing for the intermediate and beginner. There are plenty of ski schools & ski rental shops in Kaprun.

*The Schmittenhöhe mountain behind the town of Zell am See has 80 km of piste. This has some excellent terrain for the advanced skier.

Great for an active holiday anytime of year

In fact about 40 different kinds of sports are on offer - everything from walking and biking to more extreme sports like canoeing and rafting, as well as skiing and snowboarding.

Kaprun area

Kaprun and Zell am See are very close together and both towns have many shops, cafes and restaurants. The après-ski is lively and typically Austrian, there are many bars to choose from and several discos. There are over 40 restaurants in the area.

Kaprun:

The valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains and very attractive scenery. Kaprun Castle is ideal for sightseeing, dating from the 12th century and mentioned for the first time in 1280. The castle festival is one of the highlights of the summer programme of the Europa-Sportregion. Lasting two days, you are transported back to medieval times with parades, jousting, witches, jugglers, and magicians.

Zell Am See:

Nestling on the scenic shores of Lake Zell, Zell am See is a charming small town. You will find a wide range of shops, restaurants, cosy pavement cafes and off-slope activities in its medieval traffic-free centre. In midwinter the lake freezes over and can be used for ice skating and curling.

All year round activities & facilities include boat trips, golf, leisure centres, walking - with plenty of marked trails. There is also bike rental, tennis & squash, horse riding, sailing, surfing & other water sports, paragliding and
aviation. For the less energetic there is a spa & sauna.

This is a great location from which to enjoy sightseeing flights as well as day trips & excursions to places throughout Austria & beyond.
