Apartment Glockenspiel is a family owned apartment located in the beautiful year round Alpine resort of Kaprun. Easy access for all skiers from Ski School to Off Piste.

Situated on the first floor of the apartment block. Access by lift or stairs, unrestricted use of laundry and ski room in the basement.

It is centrally heated and comprises of an entrance hall, the sleeping arrangements are very versatile and comprise of a bedroom that sleeps 2 / 4, bedroom alcove for 2, and bed settee in lounge that sleeps 2, kitchen and a balcony. In total 56 square metres of space.

We are just a 2 minute walk to the Lechnerberglifte, ski schools and ski bus stops servicing runs at the Maiskogel, Zell am See and the magnificent Kitzsteinhorn (second highest mountain in Austria). Within walking distance is the village of Kaprun, supermarket, apres ski bars, restaurants, shops swim / fitness centre.

The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region

Zell am See is a short bus ride away with beautiful tree lined runs and breathtaking scenery. Zell am See's 80 km of trails are largely located on the Schmittenhohe Mountain behind the town. The easier blue runs are at the top of the mountain.

Intermediates will enjoy Zell am See's skiing with more than 50km of red and blue runs including a 6.5 km trail, the Schutt, descending the full 1200 metre back down to the resort. Advanced skiers have several long medium steep black runs descending through the forest.

Cross country skiers have up to 200 km of trails around the valley including 10km track on the frozen lake at Zell and illuminated tracks in Kaprun.

There is a 2 km long toboggan run in Kaprun. All 3 areas are connected by a bus service which runs every 20 minutes in the winter season.

Kaprun area

Kaprun is part of the Europa Sports Region a world class ski location with excellent après ski and friendly bars and restaurants. The region with its 130 km of piste which includes three ski areas all linked by a ski bus which is free with a ski pass.

Firstly the Maiskogel 780m - 1700m ski area is situated in the centre of the village. This is a great area for families and intermediates. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier 1950m - 3029m has guaranteed snow from October - June for year round skiing and has a wider range of piste from gentle sloping blue runs to more challenging mogul runs, off piste and powder for the advanced skier. There are three snowboard parks for all abilities. This area is reached by a high speed gondola system.

Kaprun and its neighbour Zell am See make the perfect summer destination. There are countless activities to choose from whether you prefer a slow paced mountain retreat or an action packed adventure. From the peaks all the way down into the valley you can choose from a wide range of sporting and relaxation activities. Hiking, rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing there are endless activities on offer.

You can enjoy the mountain panorama while taking a leisurely boat ride across the crystal clear water of Lake Zell. There are hiking trails as far as your feet can carry you, a mountain tour to the Kitzsteinhorn or Schmittenhohe is a special experience for active holiday makers.

There are 83 routes with breathtaking scenery. If you don't fancy hiking you can also conquer the mountain comfortably in one of the many cable cars. Once at the top take a break in one of Austria's typical huts, Alpine cabins or Inns.

Salzburg is the nearest airport an hour and 15 minutes drive. Various low cost airlines fly to Salzburg from the UK and Ireland.

By car: From Salzburg by via A1, A10 then B311.

By rail:

Salzburg's main rail station is in the centre of the city easily reached from the airport by shuttle bus or taxi. The nearest railway station is Zell am See, there is a regular direct service from Salzburg the journey takes 1 and half hours. From Zell am See it is a short taxi ride to Kaprun.

By coach: Airport Express and transfer bus operate a scheduled coach service from Salzburg Airport to Kaprun.

The lounge is well fitted and includes a pull out sofa bed and dining area. There is a bedroom sized alcove in the lounge (see photos) which is given privacy by pull round curtains.

The Apartment Glockenspiel is close to the town centre of the pretty Alpine village of Kaprun in the resort of Kaprun - Zell am See (Europa ski region).

Moments away there is a ski bus which takes you to guaranteed snow on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier with year round skiing or to the beautiful Schmittenhohe ski area at Zell am See. Ski bus is free when you purchase a ski pass.

If you prefer cross country skiing the track starts right next to the apartment, the track is lit so you can enjoy it at night. Other useful facilities such as supermarket, ski hire, shops, restaurants, bars, bank, post office, swimming pool and sauna are all on your doorstep.

The Optimum Swimming pool and Well Being Centre has indoor and outdoor swimming pools with a sauna, steam rooms etc. all you need to soothe your tired muscles.
