The Famagusta District
Famagusta district or Ammochostos in Greek, is located on the Eastern coast of Cyprus and is a region rich in history. This land, dotted by windmills, is the main potato producing area on the island and is known as 'Kokkinochoria', which means 'red soil villages'.
The major town in the Famagusta region, Paralimni, is centred on an attractive square lined with shops, cafes and a picturesque church. Here you will find a good range of shops, tavernas, restaurants and bars, which are worthy of exploration. There are also a number of large supermarkets in the town.
The popular holiday resorts of Agia Napa and Protaras provide excellent facilities for anyone who loves the sea and water sports as well as great nightlife.
Places of interest include: The old town of Famagusta – frozen in time since the Turkish invasion. Agia Napa – old fishing harbour and the mediaeval monastery Cape Greko – for its beautiful sunsets, great snorkelling and diving and the nature trail through its 390 ha National Forest enabling you to get away from it all. Sea Caves – for spectacular coastline where arches and caves have been carved into the limestone cliff faces by the sea. The villages of Deryneia, Sotira, Liopetri, Frenaros and Potamos Liopetriou - interesting for their handicrafts, churches and traditional celebrations.
Regular boat trips are run, enabling you to see Cape Greko, Protaras and Famagusta from the water.
Kapparis area
The Protaras area, which stretches along the east coast from Kapparis down to Cape Greko, is well known for its beautiful beaches with miles of golden sand and its glassy clear waters. It is best viewed from Prophet Elias church, which sits atop a hill 100 metres above Protaras town and can be reached by climbing the 300 steps that lead to it.
Protaras is a family oriented resort with many tavernas, restaurants and bars offering a wide selection of choice and, if one is seeking to party all night, Ayia Napa is 10-15 minutes away. At the centre of Protaras is Fig Tree Bay where the water is so clear, you can actually see the fish swimming by and there are plenty of water sports to try.
At the northern end of the resort, Kapparis has all that you need for a truly relaxing holiday. Here you will find numerous coves which are perfect for bathing, the most well known being Fireman’s Beach. There is a selection of shops including a bakery, supermarkets, bars and restaurants that open all year round, making this the ideal location for a holiday at any time.
No matter what season you choose to visit Protaras, there is so much to do and see. Summer it is the ideal season for swimming, sunbathing and a whole range of water sports. Autumn is the time for excursions to villages and vineyards for wine tasting and you could even enjoy the traditional cheese making. In winter the Troodos Mountains and the ski resorts are perfect. During Spring, the countryside is breathtaking with the beautiful fresh green meadows and flowers in bloom. This is an ideal time for nature hikes.
Due to its exceptionally good weather and location, the area offers holidays that will suit all ages and types of visitors; from families with small children to those who look only for privacy.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Larnaca, which is about 45 minutes drive away although it's only about 2 hours from Paphos.
Flights to Larnaca are available from the national airlines (BA & Cyprus Airways) as well lower cost carriers such as Monarch (ex Luton), Thomsonfly, Thomas Cook and XL (from various airports). Flying time is normally about 4.5 h
Alternatively, sometimes the major airlines such as Lufthansa offer return fares from around £130 return inclusive.

Further details indoors: You needn't worry about about keeping cool because fly screens allow you to leave doors and windows open. Alternatively we have air conditioning in the bedrooms and a fan in the lounge.
To ward off any chills on those winter evenings, we also provide oil filled radiators.
Welcome packs can be provided on request - just let us know what you require. Car hire or transfers can be arranged if required and are payable locally on arrival.

Further details outdoors: The main balcony is large and will be your main living area. The main table easily seats 6 people in our comfortably padded chairs with plenty of room for guests. A gas barbeque is provided and there is an electrically operated sun awning that will provide you with all important shade at the touch of a button.
The second balcony is provided with its own table, chairs and sun loungers.

The main sofa in the lounge converts to a small double bed enabling the apartment to accommodate up to 6 people.
