The Central Province region

City of Kandy is just 28 km away from the house and is famous for The Temple of Tooth and for annual Esala Perahera, the Asia's most colorful pageant that is held in August.

The city of Gampola was made the capital of Sri Lanka (1345-1412 A.D.) by King Buwanekabahu IV and his successor Buwanekabahu V ruled for 29 years. Among the remnants of Gampola era are the most famous temples of Lankathilaka, Gadaladeniya and Embekka Devalaya. The Ambekka Dewalaya possess a large collection of wood carvings. No other temple in Sri Lanka owns such a high quality collection.

Atabage is bordering Kothmale, which was home to King Dutugemunu before he assumed the throne.

Kandy

The gorge along Mahaweli River, which is joined by Kothmale Oya at Ulapone. The mountainous terrain mostly covered by forest reserves that protect the water source. There arescattered villages with small populations. The main occupation of the residents is agriculture, spices such as pepper and cloves being the specialty crops while tea is grown both in small and larger scale. The landscape provides wide vistas highlighted by the Nature Reserve at Ambuluwawa off Gampola.

Elevation being around 900 meters (3000 feet above sea level), the climate is close to Mediterranean with average temperature being 20C.

"“Wonderful and relaxing hideaway... set in the hills!”"

If you want to enjoy the calm and peace of central Sri Lanka, and succumb to all its charms, do stay in this B&B. Warm & friendly host, and exceptional tasty food (ordered main meals for a nominal price). Clean & comfy room with great views of the surrounding mountains from the balcony and the flow of the Mahaweli River reverberates.
Sadly our stay was too short we'll go back again soon… as this B&B is centrally located we plan to stay here and do day-trips to Kandy (Temple of the Tooth Relic), Horton Plains (National Park), Nuwara Eliya (central city in the hill country) & Adam's Peak (sacred mountain).

Dear Lucky,

Thank you for your nice review. Hope you'll stay with us again.

Regards,
Chinthaka & Kumari

"Nature and tranquility, the ultimate holiday spot"

I visited this holiday B&B with family members while on a vacation in Sri Lanka, and I left this B&B feeling that it was not a long enough stay. What I liked best were the views from the balcony which were amazing, and all you hear are the sounds of nature. After living in the busy city life, you feel such a sense of peace, when you arrive. Great place to de-stress, and also see a little bit of Sri Lanka. We got to visit the kothmale hydo dam, the Mahaweli river and the historical city of Kandy during the stay with relative ease. The food was good, and the rooms were beautiful. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Please visit us again some time.
