"Clean, relaxed & warm with a garden and a view"
Papaya guest house suited our needs perfectly. We were travelling in a large group comprising family and friends, including kids. Florence Ochola and her staff made us feel welcome and at home in the large 1960s style home, and did a great job to meet our specific needs. Papaya guest house is not located in the centre of town, which makes the need for transport arrangements very important. On the plus side though, Papaya guest house was able to assist with that all our travel arrangements. (The pick-up from the airport was a god-send, for example). While the location is not right in the centre of town, it is closely located to a strip of sprawling garden-setting restaurants, offering a wide range of food choices and a very relaxed experience (ranging from Italian, to Eritrean, Indian etc.) The wifi and internet facilities at papaya were excellent and always working. Breakfast was fresh and offered in a relaxed setting. One of the highlights was a culinary evening with beautifully cooked authentic Ugandan dishes cooked under the careful supervision of Florence. Do not skip this opportunity - we had some of the best food on our trip. The bedding and bathroom facilities are clean and comfortable and the rooms spacious. The most important thing to remember is that this is not a typical hotel-type stay. It has less of the glamour of the contemporary hotel experience, but it has a far more anchored and relaxed feel. Regular travellers to Uganda will always return and we will not consider staying anywhere else.
We are proud to get a thumbs up from our first South African family guests. Papaya Holiday Home is a family friendly home the reason we have maintained the original spacious features of the 1990's family home. Our hosting style is flexible and led by the needs of the guests whether families with childrem, couples on honeymoon or business people or those on working visits to Uganda. For outside guests looking for an amazing dining experience in Kampala, book a table with us at eatwithafrica.com

"Comfortable and very friendly home from home"
I stayed at Papaya as I regularly travel to Kampala for work. Florence, Betty and Stella were all so friendly and made it feel less of a "guesthouse" and more of a home from home. Bedroom was very comfortable and the grounds are really beautiful and restful to look at in the evening with a beer! Florence is also an amazing cook so nice to have opportunity for a home cooked evening meal when not going out. Highly recommended.
We love to see guests coming through our doors, and it is our pleasure to offer the best hospitality we possibly can. We all enjoy our work at the Papaya, and it is a humbling experience not just to be awarded high marks but also to be appreciated for doing our job. Thank you.

"Excellent value for money"
I stayed at Papaya Holiday Home for 5 weeks and had really good time! It feels like coming home after a working day and not like a Hotel. My room and ensuite bathroom was cleaned every day and my laundry was done at no extra cost once or twice a week according to my needs. The breakfast was great and included cereals with milk, bread with butter and jam, spanish omlette or fried eggs and fresh juice, fresh fruits and tea or coffee! It was served on the nice veranda in front of the house with a nice view to Nakivubo wetland and port bell, the day can't start any better than that! When I came home from office in the evening Florence provided me tea with milk to relax after hard work. She also offers a range of local meals which can be prepared on request. The food was delicious and the portions large enough to make me happy. The Italian Restaurant Cafe Roma is in a walking distance and the Muyenga Club or the Hotel International as well if you like to use a gym or a swimming pool to refresh your brain. Bugolobi where my office was located is reachable in less than 10 minutes of driving (at least if it is not during rushhour). Even a key for the backdoor wa given to me, so I could also enter the bulding late in the evening when there was no staff on duty escept for the watchman opening the gate to the property. Altogether I can highly recommend Papaya Holiday Home, you'll hardly find better value for money in Kampala, where prices for basic and mediocre Hotel rooms use to be ridiculously high as in other East African cities (like Dar es Salaam!) as well.
Thank you so much for giving a true summary of our services. At Papaya Holiday Home, we are flexible and we try as much as we can to accommodate the personal preferences of our guests, in order to make them feel at home.We welcome guests staying for short periods and for longer periods we have good offers

"Home away from home like place"
Papaya Holiday House is a real home away from home. It is a very tidy place the staffs and the owner’s hospitality make me comfortable in my stay at the beautiful Kampala. It is a simple to locate place from the main/old taxi park to Nwuwenga-Bukasa road that everyone can use the Mini Bus Taxis which are reasonably affordable. The House is very quite, has a wonderful Kampala view from the veranda including the garden in it. I really enjoy having my breakfast served as a package here at the veranda. The rooms are clean and everyday there is a room cleaning service handled by those hospitable staffs. The owner Mama Florence is an expert cook who really enjoys cooking and I have the chance to test some of the uniquely made Ugandan foods during dinner times. I really love them. It has a good WiFi connection 24/7even at room level. It cannot be easy for me to leave this place and would recommend all to check it when you get the chance to come to Kampala, Uganda.
You are one the guests who loved our cooking. We enjoyed the discussion about traditions of Africa and the skills of preparing meals passed down in families. We hope to stay in touch and to continue the conversation on traditional and modern African cuisine

"My Second Home"
The view from the balcony is beautiful. The food is very good, and they cook it according to your taste. Florence and her staff do their best to make you feel at home. This was my second time to stay at Papaya Holiday home. If I ever came to Uganda I'll definitely come back to Papaya
We are pleased that you were not disappointed when you decided to 'try Papaya Holiday Home' Even though we serve a standard English breakfast, you shared with us the typical egyptian breakfast which we took on board and with special ingredients you brought in from Cairo, we were able to serve you a breakfast to your own tasts.Thank you for adding Egyptian to our cooking skill.

"A home away from home in Kampala"
I regularly stay at Papaya while I am in Kampala for work. It's a great place, and Florence and her staff are very wecoming and helpful. It's well situated in a quiet neighbourhood with a lovely view, and has a couple of good restaurants (Cafe Roma and The Veranda) within 5 minutes walk. If you fancy eating in, Florence is also a great cook if you give her a little advance warning. The rooms are very clean and airy with reliable hot water. I've stayed in a couple of other places in Kampala but none beat Papaya.
It is a pleasure welcoming you back at Papaya Holiday Home. You are approved for a 5% discount on next visit. (Owner / Manager)

"Papaya a home away from home"
Papaya is a spacious place; the interior with 8 large self contained bedrooms and living rooms. The exterior with big gardens and parking yard, a big verandah to relax on and a good view to expand your imaginations. The place is convenient for large groups, with 8 self contained rooms you cannot find a better place at a generous cost. The staff is humane and very respectiful. The breakfast at the verandah still images in our minds. Many thanks for making our vacation and stay memorable.
''Convenient for large groups''. Other large groups searching for accommodation in Kampals should have no doubts about Papaya Holiday Home; the services and the comfortable spacious indoor and outdoor spaces. We appreciate these lovely comments from this group who stayed over the Christmas and New Year Holidays.

"Made to feel at home, good value"
I stayed at Papaya for one week while in Kampala for work. The rooms are very large if fairly basic (which I expected given the price). The service from Florence and her team was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and the home-cooked dinners very good. The location is peaceful. It may seem slightly isolated but its relatively quick to get into town. I was made to feel at home, very good value by Kampalan standards.
Thank you Peter for your honest comments on 'The guest feedback form'. The suggestions you made were very helpful and we are now implementing them. Florence (manager/home owner)

"Peaceful, welcoming home with brilliant food - great value!"
I stayed at Papaya for two weeks on a work trip to Kampala, and it was perfect. Florence and the girls are really welcoming and cater for your every need. My bed was huge and so comfortable. Meals were great. There is the option to self-cater, but the food was so delicious and such great value that I didn't bother. The portions are huge, and there are loads of tasty vegetarian options! The location is also good. It is in a quiet area, but it didn't take long to get into central Kampala, especially with the great driver Florence recommended. Thank you for providing such a relaxing and welcoming environment after my busy days of meetings, and at such great value!
At Papaya Holiday Home, we try to do our very best with what we have to meet the needs of our guests. Positive comments like these make us feel so rewarded for the services we deliver and we will continue to work hard to keep up the standards that we have achieved. Thanks, Florence (manager/home owner)

This was my second stay at Papaya Holiday Home after a first stay in mid-2013. I made the reservation by mail. Customers are treated with spontaneous and natural courtesy and simplicity. They make you feel at home. I felt like being a member of the PHH family. My room was clean, with beautiful flowery curtains, white bedsheets and towels. A gorgeous breakfast welcomes you when you get up in the morning. Portions are varied and so large that you find it hard to eat your lunch. A splendid shade tree stands in front of the building, at the edge of a well maintained garden and from the balcony, you can enjoy a magnificent view of hills around and a peep of Lake Victoria at a distance on a sunny day. The place is so secure, the staff so hospitable, and the rates so affordable that you cannot stay there once and not come again.
I am overwhelmed by your kind words. Papaya Holiday Home offers a different product ''Sweet Home'', and you have appreciated our Home away from Home atmoshpere. Florence (owner/manager)
