A mountain retreat in the Kamnik Alps of Slovenia. Ideal for holidays at any time of the year whether for a month or a few days.

The house is located in the Kamnik Alps at around 3000 feet above sea level in a peaceful location with a stunning view over the valley below. It has three bedrooms, the master bedroom has its own south facing balcony, bedroom two has a double bed and bedroom three has a comfortable single bed but with a pull out mattress to allow two people to occupy the room. A folding bed is also provided and is stored in the hallway next to the shower room on the ground floor.

Other rooms are a bathroom with shower, a second shower room,a modern fitted kitchen, a living dining room (with an enormous south facing balcony suitable for sunbathing and alfresco living) and a utility drying room.

The house enjoys central heating and satellite television. In winter the house is extremely cosy with a log burning stove, in summer it is remarkably cool. The house is set in over an acre of garden which is visited frequently by deer and other small animals. The house is comfortable and cosy but not super luxurious and this is reflected in the price which even at the peak of the season is around £60(€70) per night for a three bedroomed house!

The Ljubljana/Central Slovenia region

There are many cities in the world distinguished for their size, importance, location, beauties, and history. To compare Kamnik with any of these is a difficult task since Kamnik is a small city standing on the banks of the Bistrica River, where the patina of the roofs, church steeples, and castle ruins merges with the green neighbouring high hills and plains, and its margins with the chain of the Kamniške Alps. These are the components that give the city its soul and bear witness to the rich history of the small nation that succeeded in preserving its language and culture at the meeting point of Romance, Germanic, and Hungarian influences. Kamnik lived and still lives at a crossroads, which enables it to remain an important piece in the mosaic of our country.

Stay at Studenca.

Studenca is a small hamlet about 6 kilometres from the Slovenian City of Kamnik (actually although its called a city it is smaller than most towns in Britain). Kamnik is a preserved medieval settlement with three castles and a traffic free paved shopping street. It is about 9 km from Slovenia's main airport and about 18 kilometres from the capital Ljubljana itself. Kamnik is served by a railway which runs every hour Monday to Friday into Ljubljana's main station. It has all the facilities you would expect including shops, supermarkets, an open air swimming pool (summer) and even an arts centre. You can enjoy a pleasant drink at many of the pavement cafes (such as the world famous Cafe Veronica) looking up at the mountains all around.
