The Phuket region
Phuket, which is approximately the size of Singapore, is Thailand’s largest island. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by a bridge. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoyed a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism.
The villa is situated in a compound approximately 200 metres from the clubhouse with a pool, sauna, billiards, a small restaurant and a gymnasium. The villa is situated under 1km from mini-marts, travel agencies and small café/restaurants. You can also visit Phuket’s biggest tourist attraction within a 5-minute drive, Phuket FantaSea theme-park, which is only open at night. Kamala beach is about 700 meters walk or 1 km drive to farend, or nice secluded Laem Singh Beach just slightly more to the north. Kamala is fairly quiet but liberal village, with some small lanes and bars/massage shops on way to beach, only 15 minutes drive south to livelier Patong and 10 minutes north to upmarket hotels in Bangtao. Under a 30 minute drive, you can be at Phuket International Airport.
