The Western Province region

This region enjoys tropical warmth of 29.5 degrees with long hours of sunshine – up to 9 hours daily. May and October bring heavy monsoon showers late afternoon. Kalutara is more than an hour's car journey south of the capital Colombo and conveniently placed not too far south on the coast line of Western Province. It is central for trips to the Pinnawella Elephant Park, Kande Hill Capital and the Temple of the Tooth, Botanical Gardens, spice Gardens, National Parks, Elephant spotting and river safaris, turtle farms, gem mines and Galle an ancient port in the south now famouse for its great new cricket ground. . There is luxury shopping available as well as local markets. Clothes, luxury handbags and jewellery are all at very keen prices. The people are kind and friendly and enjoy their British Heritage as well as the Dutch and Portugese influences. There are temples to visit, beaches to enjoy and all that luxury hotels have to offer too.

How to get there

Fly to Colombo. We can arrange to meet you at the airport and transport you to Villa Jasmine at only 7,000 Sri Lankan Rupees for your whole party of up to six people with cases. Transfer takes 90 minutes to 2 hours. Kingfisher, Quatar, Kuwait and Emirate Airlines offer reasonable prices from UK. Sri Lankan Airlines fly from Heathrow Terminal 4 to Colombo. Night flight leaves 21.25 arirves 13.30 next day. From Cyprus, Larnaka, to Amman, Jordan on Royal Jordanian offer best prices.

Villa Jasmine is newly built, spacious, light and airy. It is exceptionally clean and registered by the Sri Lankan Tourist Board license 154. All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom/wc. large private balcony over looking the rain forest and tropical birds, airconditioning, mini fridge, satellite TV with English programmes, phone for 24 hour rooms service, new interior sprung mattress, wardrobe with locking draws all in beautifully crafted local hardwood. There is a tea and coffee making facility, laundery service, an in house menu with special prawn curries and lobster as well as international dishes. There is a small gift cupboard for souvenirs, newspapers, phone cards, post cards and stamps at your request.
