The South India region
A convenient hop away from cities like Bangalore, Calicut and Cochin, Wayanad is the perfect weekend getaway. Still uncrowded, clean and friendly, the district offers a host of options for those looking to just relax away from the stress and bustle of city life.
The hills, rocks and valleys which contribute to the very unique terrain of Wayanad provide for exceptional adventure experiences. Mountains and forests intersperse to create numerous outback trails, trekking routes and opportunities for other adventure sports. With vast areas still unexplored, Wayanad is truly an adventures cape waiting to be discovered!
Sulthan Bathery, earlier known as Ganapativatom, is a quaint town in the Wayanad district of Kerala. The place became known as Sulthan Bathery after Tipu Sulthan of Mysore invaded the region and used the Jain temple here as a battery. During Tipu Sulthan's invasion in the 18th century an imposing fort was built here; unfortunately no remains of it stand today. This picturesque town is situated at an altitude of 1000 meters above MSL, flanked by majestic hills with patches of cliffs, valleys and plains interwoven with the mountainous terrain. Present day Sulthan Bathery is not only the largest town in Wayanad but also the hub of all tourism and commercial activities in the district. The regional population predominantly comprises of tribals and the economy is essentially agrarian in nature.
Watch the scenic beauty of the place unfold before your eyes as you take a drive from Kalpatta to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary at Muthanga. The historic town lies close to the Kerala - Karnataka border.

"A REAL RETREAT"
AYURYOGA ACADEMY , the best retreat center , their professional attitude is highly appreciable. I was experiencing the real panchakarma and detoxification as part of my recovery from alcoholism. I was introduced and initiated in the hathayoga and still i am feeling the energy and vibration even after a week, as now i am returned in the busy polluted city in Kolkotha . Special thanks to Suneer the PRO of the resort, and Roopesh and finally my dearest doctor Tony and yoga master Prajit. The only and only complaint is
the center is mainly focusing westerners , as the price is not affordable to an average Indian. Their luxurious amenities are acceptable to Westerns and upper class Indians. I strongly recommend this center for those wish to undergo a traditional and authentic ayurveda and yogic retreat. hari om
