The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and warm wet winters. The sea water rarely drops below 16°C (60.8°F), therefore allowing swimmers to have an eight to nine months bathing season.
The hottest days of the hottest months are cooled down by the "Meltem" that is a breeze which blows every afternoon.
Nevertheless, people who have problems coping with the heat are recommended to visit the region during spring, early summer, or in the autumn.
Kalkan is situated in the heart of the Lycian region in South Western Turkey which is home to many ancient sites and places of interest. These are just a few example of some of the places to see - day trips can be arranged via various agencies in the village
· Xanthos -Xanthos was the political capital of the Lycian Federation and a splendid example of Lycian Civilisation. · Letoon- Letoon was the religious centre of Lycia, dedicated to the goddess Leto. It lies 4 KM from Xanthos near Kumluova village.
· Kekova, -see the remains of an ancient sunken city beneath your boat.
· Saklikent Gorge/Canyon is an incomparable natural wonder, at a distance of 50Km from Kalkan. 300 metres deep and 18km long, · Patara-known for its 18km long huge white sand beach
Kalkan area
KALKAN, the jewel of the ‘Turquoise Coast’, is an idyllic fishing village with a charming marina where modern yachts mix with traditional fishing boats and gullets in a postcard pretty setting, where peace and tranquillity are guaranteed. The cobbled streets have that special ambience of old world charm and retain their lovely, traditional Turkish character. Kalkan offers an extensive range of delightful and atmospheric restaurants, from the relaxed simplicity of local home cooking, to the sophistication of the fabulous harbour-side and rooftop restaurants. There are supermarkets (offering delivery service), butchers, bakers etc. Visitors never tire of meandering through the pretty streets leading to the harbour with their wide range of local crafts, antiques and fashionable jewellery and clothing shops. There is also a bank for money exchange and an ATM machine for local cash.

How to get there
How to get there - Fly to Dalaman from major UK airports - Transfer arrangements can be made if necessary and start at approx £45 each way from Dalaman airport - (approximately 1hr 45 minutes transfer time to Villa) - Assistance/advice given with flight arrangements. Winter flights now available to Dalaman airport. - Car hire available from airport. - cheap local taxis in Kalkan - good network of public Transport Dolmus/Coaches

Further details
As is quite usual in Turkey the swimming pool does not have a shallow end and varies in depth from 1.4 to1.5 metres. Guests should be aware of this if intending to bring small children or are non swimmers.
Guests must take out personal insurance for health ,personal accident, cancellation etc which covers their personal needs. This is a condition of booking.

Pets not allowed
A deposit of 20% is required to confirm a booking. Payment of balance 8 weeks before confirmed holiday date. A refundable security/breakage deposit of £250 payable with balance.
The property has a number of steps from the car park to the main entrance and may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm.
