Kalkan offers a holiday away from the crowds and ravages of mass tourism. To many it is the archetypical Mediterranean harbour village, with pretty cobbled streets, boutiques and craft shops and roof top terrace restaurants serving an array of tempting dishes to suit all tastes. Nestling at the foot of the dramatic Tauraus mountains, Kalkan is built around a sheltered bay. Its sophisticated atmosphere has made it a firm favourite with discerning British guests, as well as Turks seeking a special place to holiday.
Komurluk Apartments were completed in 2004. There are 9 spacious and tastful apartments built into the hillside which lead down to a lovely pool and sun terrace. It is very peaceful here and the views over the bay are probably the best in Kalkan! A perfect location for a perfect holiday!

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan benefits from many days of sunshine making it an ideal location for those seeking golden rays! The temperatures in July and August can reach 40 degrees centigrade. May, June, September and October are poplular times to visit where the daytime temperatures are comfortable thirties and the evenings are warm and pleasant. January to March is the rainy season and probably best to avoid.
This area of Turkey is stepped in historical and cultural places of interest including Xanthos, Thlos and the ancient city of Patara (also the birth place of Santa Claus!) Fethiye and Kas are local towns also worth visiting.
Kalkan / Komurluk area
The town is a fifteen minute walk downhill where you will find the shops, restaurants and bars, supermarkets, bank and post office. There are some fantastic bargains, as well as glass, jewellery, carpets and kilims, fashions and of course, Turkish Delight for sale. You can eat very cheaply here, as well as eating like a king! There truly is something to suit every taste from carnivours to vegetarians, all cooked using local produce. Guaranteed it will be fresh and tasty.
There is a small beach in Kalkan which has an area exclusively for swimmers. The beach is pebbly, but about twenty minutes away by dolmus (the local bus) is Patara beach - 18 miles of sandy beach which is home to the endangered loggerhead turtles. Definitely well worth a visit. There are also beach clubs around the town. These are man-made swimming platforms where you pay an entry fee which includes use of sunloungers, umbrellas as well as having facilities for food and drink. They are very well maintained and are great for getting straight into the sea.
There are several dive companies here offering anything from snorkelling to SCUBA diving. The sea around this area is great for diving and if you are thinking of learning to dive, the schools are PADI certified. Ask us for more details if you are interested.
How to get there
Dalaman or Antalya airports serve Kalkan, although Dalaman is the closest. (approx 1.5 hrs). easyJet, Thomson Airways and Monarch have regular scheduled services from many UK airports. We can arrange airport transfers and we often have special offers, sometimes offering FREE transfers depending on length of stay - ask us for more details. The apartment is an easy 15 minute walk into the centre of Kalkan, although taxis are always available for those wishing to take the easy option!

Further details indoors: The apartment is light and airy, decorated in a contemporary style. A large, open plan lounge/kitchen/diner gives way onto a balcony with dining table and chairs. Each bedroom has a dressing table, large mirror, hairdryer and double bed. They are both en suite. All the main rooms are air conditioned and are tastefully furnished and decorated. A further shower room/WC is located off the living room together with a utility room for storage. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided for the pool terrace together with beach towels.

Conditions
Children are more than welcome at the apartment. However, its design does not lend itself to very young children in pushchairs. Regrettably, infirm elderly or wheelchair bound persons would find this property unsuitable.
