About the home

Villa Sahin is a place to be, a place to unwind and complety relax in style, with spectacular elevated views over Patara Beach and down to Kalkan, which is a ten minute drive away. The villa is beautifully interior designed with a well equipped contemporary kitchen, outside shade and sun areas, outside dining terrace, five double bedrooms, four with en-suite bathrooms, comfortably sleeping ten, private top floor Sultan terrace, BBQ, and broadband internet access if needed.

Spend your days by the pool, or exploring the many classical sites. Riding, diving, watersports, quadbiking and sailing are just some of the ways to spend your time. You can drive into Kalkan for restaurants and nightlife, wander around this friendly town or eat at one of the local trout restaurants, where fish are caught and delivered to your table. For most people, once they have visited Kalkan a love affair begins...

Although the villa is set in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, it is easily accessible without any steep drives.
Sun areas and shady areas with large white shade umbrellas so you can choose to eat and relax either in the shade or in the sun
Private grounds with olive, lemon and orange trees, please help yourself to the fruit!

Further details

In common with most other villas, Villa Sahin has marble floors thoughout, which does become slippy when wet, care should be taken with younger children if they run in and out of the house from the pool.

Villa Sahin operates a no smoking policy inside the villa, we would appreciate your cooperation - it is of course fine to enjoy your smoking outside in one of the many lounge and chillng-out areas.

Conditions

A hire car is important as the Villa is located a ten minute drive from Kalkan and 1km from other amenities.

The Private and Sparkling Pool

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

There is so much to see and do if you want to leave the beach or the pool. There are many classical sites of interest, watersports (get your PADI diving cert fast,) canoe down the Patara River, horse ride along Patara Beach, explore the sunken ruins of Kekova (a must) or drive to Saklikent Gorge to raft, mud bath and eat pancakes in the river. You can indulge in a traditional Turkish Haman - a blissful unforgettable experience for both men and women. Haggle in the markets, shop in Kalkan and Kas for ceramics, rugs and silver jewellery or buy all the 'designer' names and belly dancing outfits at the local market.

For intrepid walkers the villa is set a short way from the famous Lycian Way. Also, a visit to the 12 mile Patara Beach with its fabulous 2,000 year old ruins is highly recommended. Bustling Fethiye with its fresh fish market - choose your fish and one of the restaurants will cook it for you - is just an hours drive away. Or just relax, read, write, paint or unwind - it is a perfect place.

The climate is Mediterranean with temperatures rising to the late 30's C in Islamlar, but this temperature can increase in Kalkan and on the coast. Generally speaking Islamlar is a little cooler than the coast and benefits from a wonderful cooling soft mountain breeze.

The Kalkan / Islamlar area

Islamlar is famous for its trout restaurants and meze. Amazing organic ingredients and very friendly service make this a must in your stay.

Drinking tea with the locals in the afternoon sun is also a wonderful thing to do.

From Kas Harbour you can take a boat day trip to Mais - a Greek Island . From Kalkan Harbour there are wonderful boat excursions to be taken, even a night time BBQ and star gazing trip!

Lots of nightlife in the form of bars for all age groups, although clubs have not come to Kalkan so far.
Great Thursday market in Kalkan, fun to go to watch the traders shouting their wares and for fabulous fruit and vegetables

Treat yourself to a Turkish Bath - suitable for both men and women. This is a really pampering experience
You can sail, ride, fish, walk or visit one of the many Kalkan Beach Clubs or Patara Beach -you won't get bored!

Villa Sahin is just over an hourand a half beautiful scenic drive from Dalaman Airport. There is a wide choice and range of carriers to choose from. On arrival, we recommend you have organised your airport transfer and car hire in advance. This is very simple to arrange - just email abi@abitravel.net (attention Linda) and they will organise an efficient airport transfer and a hire car will be awaiting you at the villa. We have found them to be most helpful, but there are other airport transfer/car hire companies in Kalkan if you prefer.

“Wonderful place to relax! Felt at home from day one.” We came to Villa Sahin for the second time and stayed for three weeks. We loved the secluded location in the hills, away from beautiful but touristy Kalkan. The house is very spacious with all the comforts one could want. When travelling with small children, having a roomy house is such a luxury, especially when the weather requires indoor vacationing. The kids loved the pool and of course the wonderful beach at Patara. For the grownups, the sultan terrace on top of the house was one of the highlights with morning sunshine and a view all the way to Rhodes (on very clear days). A very friendly young man came by every day to clean the pool and the terrace. Had lots of wonderful experiences with locals in Islamlar and Üzümlü. We will definitely be back!
