The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
There are many places to visit within easy travelling distance of the Su Apartment. Kas, a medium sized town is 20 mins drive or Fethiye is approx 1 hr away by car. Car hire is possible or taxis are very cheap and readily available. There is also a reliable bus service. Patara beach, often sited as one of the world’s top beaches, with its 18km of long isolated golden, unspoilt sands is only 20 mins drive away too. Other places of historic interest include Saklikent Gorge; Kaya (Greek ghost town, subject of Louis de Berniere's 'Birds without Wings'); Kekova; Lycian rock tombs; Xantos; Letoon; Pinara and Tlos. All are within easy reach of Kalkan.
Kalkan is renowned for its superb restaurants, the best to be had in coastal Turkey. Here, you will find menus to suit all pockets and tastes and surroundings to suit all moods. These are mainly situated along the harbour front or on roof terraces offering excellent views over the sea, superb fresh fish and seafood. A wonderful evening can be enjoyed in a relaxing ambience soaking up the atmosphere of the village at night. Many of these restaurants feature annually in reports provided by national newspapers in the UK. Although sophisticated and chic, these have still retained their Turkish charm. Shops are very good quality with a range of merchandise available from arts and crafts to ‘designer’ handbags. There is a range of boutique style bag shops that hold many bargains compared to UK prices. There is also an excellent weekly Thursday market providing many opportunities for bargain hunting from t-shirts and jeans to spices and local farmer’s food produce. There is bank with ATM machine and a Post Office both in the village.
Kalkan / Central Kalkan area
Kalkan village is only a genuine 5 minute walk away. Kalkan has its own village beach which is pebbly while Patara beach, with its 18km unspoilt golden sands, is only a 20 min drive away. There are also many other small sandy coves within 5 mins drive ie. Kaputas beach which is a beautiful secluded cove.
Kalkan is a small fishing village on the south west coast of Turkey with winding cobbled streets and alleyways, which has expanded gradually over recent years. The ancient old town retains its original character, surrounded by the awesome Taurus mountains. At its centre lies the harbour with a mix of local fishing craft, traditional gulets and visiting yachts.
Kalkan harbour provides gulet trips for a 'lazy day at sea' around the bays which are great for relaxing and sea swimming at various stops around the bays.
There are also many beach clubs close by, which offer free taxi services. Kalkan has 5 beach clubs, including Kalamar beach club and are excellent, with sunbathing platforms, direct sea access & great lunches at on site restaurants.
How to get there
How to get there - You can fly to Dalaman from all major UK airports, with a huge range of tour operators. Some suggestions are provided below. - Transfer arrangements can be made if necessary. These cost approx £45 each way from Dalaman airport for 3 people and luggage. The journey is approximately 1hr 45 minutes transfer time to the apartment and the journey is beautiful. We can provide assistance/advice with flight, transfer or car hire arrangements. Winter flights are now available to Dalaman. - Car hire is available either from Dalaman airport or in Kalkan. - Taxis in Kalkan are cheap and plentiful. - Good network of public Transport Dolmus/Coaches which run very regularly to and from Kas, a neighbouring town, to Fethiye and to the beautiful Patara beach. Further details indoors: Modern and impressive, the apartment is built to a very high standard and has antique marble flooring throughout. Air conditioning is provided in all rooms, not just the bedrooms, which can be used to heat as well as cool. The light & airy open plan lounge and dining area are tastefully decorated in a contemporary Turkish style and feature a traditional limestone wall. A dining table and chairs are provided in the dining area and there are comfortable sofas/sofabeds, for guests to relax in the living area. There is also an LCD TV, Satellite TV and a DVD player for the ultimate guest relaxation including many English speaking channels. Wide French doors lead onto the private patio which also has a large antique mosaic table and wrought iron seating with comfortable cushions. The fantasically equipped kitchen has many wall and base units and is complete with solid granite worktops. Modern appliances include dishwasher, stainless steel oven, hob and extractor fan, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer. An iron and ironing board are also provided for the use of guests. All crockery and utensils are included with everything from chopping knives to champagne flutes. Guests will also find many luxury gadgets from an electric juicer to state of the art ice crusher. An ipod docking station is also provided. The ground floor also features one of the apartment's two large, walk in power showers and fully tiled w.cs. An attractive, solid beech spiral staircase leads upstairs.
Bedroom one is a spacious king size master suite with hand crafted king size bed, wardrobes, dressing table and hairdryer. There is also a comfortable seating area with sofa. Doors open out onto private balcony with superb sea views. Bedroom two has twin beds (can be made as a double), wardrobes and dressing table. Air conditioning throughout. A further large, fully tiled bathroom is provided upstairs, again with walk-in power shower, making the Su Apartment ideal for couples sharing.
Further details outdoors: The apartment is located on the ground floor, the most enviable position of all, directly in front of the large, impressive swimming pool with spectacular, uninterrupted views of Kalkan Bay. French doors open onto a spacious private patio, where you can take an al Fresco breakfast or enjoy the early morning sunshine. The patio leads on to one of the Emir’s two large, private pools, which are each surrounded by spacious sun terraces with sun loungers and parasols - a perfect place to sip that relaxing evening drink and enjoy watching the sun set. There is also a second pool, again with spacious sun terraces to the left of the property.
The apartment is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, filled with cascading bougainvillea fragrant bushes and vibrant shrubbery. There is an onsite management team providing a 24 hour point of contact and security for guests' peace and mind.

An English speaking 'meet and greet' service will welcome you to the Su Apartments, providing an on-site point of contact. A convenient welcome hamper will also await you, complete with a good, chilled bottle of wine, whatever time of day or night you arrive. This also provides guests with some essential provisions until you have an opportunity to shop. Bedlinen and towels provided. Please bring your own beach towels. Twice weekly cleaning and linen change. The apartment has its own individual boiler to ensure a constant supply of hot water. There is also a back up generator for electricity supplies if necessary.
Conditions
A 25% deposit (minimum £150) is required to confirm a booking, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to departure. A refundable damage/breakages deposit of £150 is also payable 12 weeks prior to departure. This will be returned on clearance by local agent, approx one week after departure.

We had a great time. The apartment just looked as we expected based upon the website pictures - very spacious. The views were stunning. The airconditioning was also great as it became very hot outside particularly during the last few days of our stay. We also found the pool to be lovely and peaceful.
