About the home

Olive Tree accommodates 6-8 in air conditioned comfort. Set over 3 floors, the ground floor consists of open plan living space, fully fitted kitchen/dining area, atrium and WC. On the first floor there is the master bedroom with king size bed and en-suite and another double bedroom also with en-suite. Both have personal balconies. The top floor consists of 2 single bedrooms with shared shower room and each have balconies to view the stunning views of Kalkan and Kalamar Bays. It is the ideal villa for families, couples or friends looking for something a little bit special.

A "Welcome pack" is provided upon arrival. We have a daily maid service for light cleaning with a complete linen change and villa clean twice a week. An English speaking agent is available for advice and assistance. transfers can be arranged along with car hire.

There is a cabana/BBQ area with seating for 8. The plunge pool is serviced twice daily and it should be noted that it has no shallow end. A gardener tends the plants every day. Sun beds and parasols are provided for our quests.

Because Olive Tree has an open spiral staircase some families may consider it inappropriate for small children however there are hand railings on eitherside of the staircase for support. The house is in a elevated position so is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Conditions

A damage deposit cheque of £250.00 is required before departure when final payment is made. I am sorry no pets are allowed.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Kalkan has a climate not disimilar to that of Southern California with sea water temperatures hovering around 25oC in summer. There is a seasonal wind called a "Meltem" which flows down from the Taurus mountains over Kalkan in the early evening bringing a welcome breeze. July and August are the hottest months with temperatures touching 31-32oC. The ancient sites of Xanthos. Letoon, Tlos and Saklikent Gorge are all easily accessible from Kalkan so if your interest is cultural or historical you will spoilt for choice.

The Kalkan area

Kalkan has long been considered the prettiest of the small coastal towns along Turkey's Lycian coast. Nestling in the foothills of the Taurus mountains with its maze of cobbled streets, white washed houses and flowered covered allyeways, Kalkan has the charm of a tranquil fishing village where the simple houses have been lovingly restored to create the sophisticated atmosphere of an up-market resort. The town is full of enchanting shops which stay open until midnight, a lively harbour, cafes and roof-top restaurants to excite the discerning diner, jazz bars and a very smart marina where beautiful "gulets", the traditional wood-built fishing boats moor after day trips or stunning full week cruises. The only local pebble beach is man-made but there are many "beach clubs" which are open to non-members. They offer sunbeds, swimming, watersports, restaurant and bar facilities. There are 2 sandy beaches in the immediate vicinity of Kalkan. The first being Patara (voted one of the world's best beaches by "The Times") which is 19kms. away to the west and Kaputas which is found at the bottom of a ravine down a 100 steps but with the most beautiful turquoise sea only 6kms. drive east.

“Lovely little villa in a lovely little town” A small, simple but perfectly hospitable villa with everything you could need, including some essential and very efficient air-conditioning and a well-stocked kitchen. The pool was small but immaculate. We also became very fond of the local stray cats - who were clean and friendly. Kalkan itself is a manageable walk down the hill, but the taxis are affordable and worth while. The town itself is idyllic, with plenty to do and superb bars and restaurants.

“Kalkan and Olive tree villa are worth a stay and located in a quiet spot” We have rented 4 villas in the last 5 years this villa is very close to the top of the range The pool at first we thought would be 2 small for 2 adults and 3 teenagers but we found that it more than met our needs The interior of the villa was well presented we needed for nothing The viila is located at the end of a lane although like all of turkey the roads are challenging We walked to town aprrox 10 mins and got a taxi back 7 Lire We did not hire a car as the bus station to go to the beach Etc is within 10 mins walk Shops / Banks are within 10 Mins Christines agents are very good they organised our airport tranfers plus a couple of trips If you are looking for a quiet villa some friendly people please look at this villa

Changeover day is usually a Monday – Monday or Friday – Friday, however as more flights become available some flexibility can be allowed subject to existing bookings and availability. Please contact us to check.

Check-in is after 2pm. The villa may not be ready until 2pm on arrival, however, by pre-booking the night before, and subject to availability, would guarantee early entry. Check-out is before 11am. Should you require the villa until 6pm a half day rate will apply. After 6pm a full day rate is applicable. All subject to availability.
