9-23 July 2012. Many thanks for a marvellous relaxing 2 weeks. The apartment is really well equipped, and the wonderful view from the balcony meant that we ate in on several nights. We learned to dive at the Kalamar Beach Club, and also went on Abi Travel trip to Xanthos, Tlos and Saklikent gorge. We also took a realxing boat trip on Yidiz 2 with Captain Osman.

June 2012. Thank you Ian for your lovely apartment. It had everything we could wish for and in a beutiful setting.
We have really enjoyed our holiday with a mixture of sunbathing, swimming and sightseeing. Kalamar Beach Clun was really good and the highlight for Andrew was a water skiing lesson.
We found the local Turkish people to be friendly and helpful. To finish off our holiday we went for a meal to Sofra which we thought was rather special. We will take many special memories back to Scotland.

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
This is probably the easiest area of Turkey to get excited about. From Marmaris to Antalya the coastline is gorgeous, the weather is reliably excellent and there are lots of things to do and see. The Turquoise Coast at its finest has become the destination of first choice for many first time and repeat visitors to Turkey. Turquoise seas and pine-clad mountains make this one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world. Combine this with a lovely climate and friendly people and you have an unbeatable combination for the perfect holiday.
Kalkan – a small peaceful resort and fishing village with immense charm, has changed little over the years and offers a taste of traditional Turkish life. The narrow cobbled streets wind down through the village of whitewashed houses, shops, and restaurants until the small harbour is reached.
More sophisticated than the usual resort town, Kalkan appeals to travellers looking for more than a ‘sun and sea’ holiday.
The town itself is full of quality restaurants, bars, boutiques and shops selling hand-made goods. In the evening the local restaurants come alive, and the rooftop terraces provide a perfect setting from which to admire the beautiful scenery.
Kalkan by day is fun. The town centre of Kalkan becomes surprisingly empty during the day as guests set off for daytime activities. Popular activities include beach-going, relaxing at beach clubs or swimming pools, water sports, exploring the ancient lands around Kalkan, and boat and gulet trips. Don't forget to stop by Kalkan's Thursday market for some great bargains. The boat trips are not to be missed, and often turn out to be the highlight of the holiday. Go to the harbour and talk to the boat captains. Some boats to look out for are Sunset 1 and 2, and Moby Dick. Boats leave at 10.30am and arrive back around 5pm.
Many places of natural beauty and historical interest - Lycian Way, Saklikent Gorge, Kekova sunken city, Tlos, Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, are all within easy reach. The delights of the Xanthos valley are 20 minutes away to the west, and include the 15km of sand at Patara as well as the Lycian ruins scattered between Tios and the coast.
Our apartment is within easy walk of the village, local beaches and beach clubs. It is fully maintained during your holiday with people on hand to welcome you and help you with any problems you might have.
The apartment is situated midway between Kalkan town and Kalamar Bay, along Kalamar Road.
A 10 minute walk takes you into Kalkan town, or for the less active, a taxi can be ordered.

It is clear to see that this is actually a well loved home and from the washing machine, dishwasher, iron, cooking facilities through to the enormous family fridge my family felt at home right away. The water cooler is a definate plus!!
There is no end of places to eat out and we didnt have a bad meal while we were there. I also recommend venturing into the butchers and greengrocers in town and collecting some spices from the Thursday market and cooking a family meal for a minimal amount of money.
The cost of the airport transfer needs to be taken into account when booking and it would be worth considering hiring a car for the duration of the stay - the roads are good and there are many places to visit.
The 20 minute walk into town down hill is pleasant with a number of welcoming hotels and restaurants to try out. Set some spending money aside for the taxi trip up the hill from town usually around 12 Lira.
Buy spirits at the duty free shop as imported spirits are expensive to buy in resort.
Fabulous freshwater pool although it is quite deep for children who are non swimmers.
Be sure to try out your haggling skills in the shops and markets!
Hire a car and visit some of the Roman ruins; Patara, Letoon and Xanthos are all within half an hour of Kalkan. My personal favourite visit was Salinkent Gorge - the gorge walk was thrilling but even if you while away your time drinking a refreshing Apple tea on the hammocks and Ottomans around the cool mountian pool surrounded by beautiful flowers and attentive waiters.
We met some lovely families around the pool who come back to the resort time after time and I could keep going about the good things about this resort and these apartments - Suffice to say we had a fabulous holiday!

"A little piece of heaven!"
This is our second visit to the Olive Grove apartment, and it won't be our last. It provides everything we need - superb views, close to restaurants, and only a10/15 minute downhill walk into Kalkan town. The apartment is well equipped and very comfortable with very efficient air conditioning.. We really couldn't ask for more.
