About the home

Villa Kingfisher has an unrivalled position in Kisla which is one of Kalkan's most favoured locations. Situated one mile from the centre of Kalkan there are several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. There is also a water taxi service into Kalkan which is 3 minutes walk away and free if you enjoy a drink in the beach club on the way home! The villa is open planned and offers four bedrooms, all en suite, two of which are doubles and two are twin-bedded. It has its own roof top terrace as well as patio and BBQ areas and private swimming pool with sun loungers. There is always shade provided throughout the terrace at different times of the day.

The ground floor is open plan with cloakroom, hallway, working open fire place, armchair, three seater sofa (converts to single sofa bed), dining area which accommodates eight, satellite multichannel TV, kitchen (all white goods and utensils provided) and doors leading onto the patio, gardens and swimming pool. The patio has a granite-top table in the shade again seating eight and split level barbecue. We have a terrace heater for early/late season bookings.

The first and second floors are identical. Both floors have double and twin bedrooms which share a balcony. All the bedrooms provide fantastic panoramic views of the sea and mountains. The rooms have built in double wardrobes and table lamps. All bedrooms are ensuite.

The villa is also on mains drainage which drastically reduces the chance of being bitten by a mosquito. We provide a mobile phone for local use which saves you money when ordering a taxi, restaurant bookings etc. Karyn, our local agent, will help you with booking local tours and with general information to help you relax and enjoy your holiday. She is always contactable by phone.

Directly outside the kitchen we have a shaded granite table to seat eight. If you want a rest from your sunlounger relax on our garden furniture for a sundowner! If you want a night in take advantage of our barbecue. Karyn will give you details of where to buy your koftas and kebabs. Our pool is 8 x 3 metres and has a shallow end with depth 1.3 metres. There are also 5 wide curved steps into the pool. Our roof terrace has sunloungers, granite-top table with 4 chairs and a fridge.

Our villa is three minutes walk from the sea and beach club and has uninterrupted views of the sea, something many villas cannot boast. In addition to the now expected TV, DVD and broadband we offer you state of the art Bose portable docking station, so bring your iPod/iPhone to enjoy music of your choice on the terrace! Many pools in Kalkan have a ladder as opposed to steps and no shallow end. We provide a free mobile phone for local calls to save you expensive calls via UK. You can enjoy a free sundowner cocktail at the lovely Kulahana hotel restaurant three minutes away on the seafront just to get you in the mood for your holiday!

Conditions

We welcome smokers but ask please that you do not smoke inside the villa. For most of the season this is not a problem - it's not likely to be a question of standing out in the rain or snow for a quick puff!

Hoş Geldiniz Kalkan!!!

Quoted in the Sunday Times as one of the “10 best views in the world”. Kalkan is an unspoilt fishing town situated on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Mass tourism does not exist in Kalkan and the town still retains its authenticity. It has a beautiful historic harbour with the Taurus mountains serving as a stunning backdrop. Narrow streets lead you down to the harbour where you will find a number of local shops. The town has also retained it’s distinctive Ottoman Greek architecture. Kalkan is surrounded by some fantastic beaches, including Patara and Kaputas, as well as having it’s own small pebbled beach. The sea is warm and clear, perfect for swimming, water-skiing, jet-skiing and snorkelling. There are also many other activities on offer, including horse riding and trekking.

The Kalkan / Kalkan Old Town area

The town is situated near the towns of Kas and Fettiye, both of which can be reached on a short bus ride. You can also visit the mud baths, where you can experience the ‘youth preserving’ mud. The traditional Turkish baths are nearby and you can guarantee that you will receive a massage to remember!

It has a wealth of restaurants many of which have roof top terraces – a foodie’s paradise! These are perfect locations to watch the sun go down or have a wonderful view of the town. There is a weekly market every Thursday where you can purchase beautiful pieces of pottery or handcrafted rugs.
Whether you are looking for an action packed water sports holiday or a relaxing holiday by the poolside, Kalkan has something for everyone.

Charter flights are the cheapest way to Turkey flying into Dalaman airport. Flights are now available from almost every UK airport, taking approx 4 hours. Transfer time from Dalaman to apartment is 11/2 to 2 hours
Flights via Istanbul are another option for those wishing to explore this city before transferring to Dalaman.
Flights to Antalya are another alternative; however the transfer time is 3 hours.
Car hire is available from Abitravel on www.abitravelkalkan.com or Enes Rent a Car on www.enesrentacar.net.
We can arrange the transfers for you to/from the airport. It is not necessary to hire a car for your whole stay as local buses and taxis are plentiful.

“Fab holiday, great location!” Had a great time in Villa Kingfisher in August. The villa was as described and spotless. Karyn the agent was so helpful at all times. Local people are very friendly and caring. We lost a camera and it was returned to us by the taxi man who found it in his cab. The local restaurants are really good and also remembered us if we went back more than once. The local beach club was close by, we also used Carretta club just opposite the bay ,which was my favourite.

All towels, including bathing towels, tea towels and bed linen are provided. Weekly cleaning is provided within the price but more if requested.
