The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Kalkan is a lovely small hilltop town that overlooks a tiny bay. Its quaint, traditional, white-washed houses, shuttered windows and balconies garlanded with brilliant flowers that cascade to the streets below, make it the ultimate in a peaceful holiday town in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. Narrow winding streets lined with souvenir shops lead down to the charming marina.

Every morning boats busily take tourists to one of the nearby beaches or small bays. As the sun sets it is Kalkan style to meet on the roof terraces for a drink before dinner and enjoy the comings and goings of the yachts, the business of the marina and the panoramic view.

Kalkan is situated on a beautiful small bay near Antalya province. Nearest airport is Dalaman (2 hours by taxi). You can enjoy a daily island excursion in a gullet (wooden hulled local boats), a moonlight dinner cruise, or go by minivan to the nearby villages of Patara and Bergin. Patara beach is a 20 km long, unspoiled white sand beach 12 km from Kalkan. There is another beautiful small sandy beach (Kaputas beach) 5 km from Kalkan.

Patara - 12 miles unspoilt sand - loungers, parasols, cafe both ends with wcs & showers - World Heritage Site.

HISTORY - The whole of this area is rich in archaeological history. Ruins from the Lycian, Roman and Ottoman period are evident all around and many are still being uncovered and restored.

- January ... Parts of the countryside are smothered in wild Anemones of all colours
- January / February ... Sit outside by a brazier fire for an after dinner drink
- January ... A trip to Gombe to see the snow in Mountains 3,000 mts high
- January / February ... Visit ancient Lycian sites - so much easier in temperatures of 20 / 25 Centigrade
- January / February ... Sunbathing!
- March / April ... Risk a swim or go to the mountains in Bezirgan (15 minutes) to see the Wild Flowers

“A view to Die For” We have just returned from a glorious holiday in Kalkan having stayed at the Villa Mediterranean. We received a very warm welcome from Abdullah and his Manager Ibo, who had already ensured our fridge was stocked up with the best Welcome Pack ever. Nothing was too much trouble and Ibo was always on hand if we needed him. The accommodation is huge and ideal for two families and as the villa is split meant our teenagers had their own space. There are steep steps leading to the villa which may not be suitable for the elderly or very young children. But best of all is the view; probably the best in Kalkan. We spent many hours on the large terrace with a glass of wine just watching the sun go down; completely uninterrupted views. There is a short walk into town approx 10 mins and it is hoped a proper footpath will be complete next year. Thank you Abdullah for letting us stay in your beautiful villa – we loved it.

We spent a wonderfull week here after visiting Istfanbul and Cappadoccia .
The villa was perfect for our family.We spent alot of time in the pool and arrounde it.Grilled sea bass outside on our last night.It is a great place to stay to well taken care of
Our trip to Patara Beach,Sakikent Gorge and Oludeniz Beach were great adventures.

Well, we are about to leave after a great week in the Turkish sunshine!
From the minute we arrived we were able to start relaxing - what a great villa, and so thoughfully equipped. We especially appreciated the groceries in the fridge - exactly what we would have needed to stock up on so saved us a trip to the supermarket on our first evening - thank you. We all loved the new and the pool. Spent a lot of time just hanging out at the villa (kids had a great time inventing all sorts of games - didn't mention TV once all week, a definite sign that they were happy and entertained enough just being here) but also ventured out to Patara, Kapulta and Kalkan beaches to Saklikent gorge ( probably better with slightly older kids, but still stunning and we loved the little restaurant on the road back, great gozleme!!) and toIslarmlar - Marmaris restaurant was one of the highlights of the week - definitely recommended

We would not hesitate to recommend both Kalkan and the beautiful villa to friends, and we hope to come again one day!

What a truly wonderful holiday in such a beautiful villa in a truly fabulous location. Everything was perfect and every little thing catered for. A true home from home. The villa exceeding our expectations and more fantastic than we thought.
The immaculate housekeeping and Ibo's friendly nature made it complete.
Kalkan is truly a special place with beautiful and kind people which made our holiday so much more magical. We will be back to Meditteranean House to add to our special memories in the future

We had our best holiday ever in this place. It was absolutely wonderful. The villa had everything that one can imagine from basic amenities to luxury goods. Design was not only practical and convenient but also very tasty.The pool was what they called infinity pool and it gave you the idea of connecting with the sea. The view was beyond paradise One can stay there and would never wanna leave. It is a perfect getaway for couples who need some privacy or for families with children who would like have great fun feeling like one big family. Locationwise since the villa is a bit isolated, it is also pretty good for older people, who seek for quiteness. Still getting to downtown is pretty easy, only a few minutes walk. We highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to spend a holiday to remember for a lifetime.

This was our first visit to Kalkan, but will not be our last!

Mediterranean House gave us superb accommodation and fantastic views that we hardly ventured away from the villa.

We have spent many evenings admiring the view as well as experiencing the wonderful food cooked by Ibu's sister. Ibu has also taken excellent care of us as well as keeping our 5 year old son entertained!

We have be so impressed that we have already booked again for next year.

Stayed here for a week in May and had a lovely time. The villa is perfect and a real home from home with some lovely touches (candles, flowers,towels, etc). The pool was excellent and we didnt even make it to the beach as we just stayed there every day.

The owner is a real pleasure to deal with and answers any queries very quickly. Details on the villa, how to find and access were brilliant and we had a totally hassle free holiday.

Brilliant and would definitely go back
