Villa Maya is situated in Akbel we are on the doorstep of the resort of Kalkan. We are in very easy reach to local amenities, supermarkets, cafes and transport links. You will be spoilt by the stunning mountain views from villa Maya. Each week there is a local market offering traditional Turkish produce. Villa Maya is run by a young English family who live on site. Villa Maya is ideal for families whether your child is under 5 or over this villa is very suitable for almost anyone. There is a beautiful large private garden with play area for young children and a large private pool. There is also a gym on site for the fitness fanatics! We are a couple of minutes drive from Kalkan where you will be spoilt for choice with fine restaurants/bars and beautiful boutique shops. We are a 5-10 minute drive from the wonderful fish restaurants in Islamlar, where you will experience beautiful scenery whilst enjoying your catch of the day.
Villa Maya is an all year round good location. In Summer it is ideal for a beach holiday, sight seeing, boat trips etc and in Winter it is ideally located for the Lycian walks which are very popular for the enthusiastic walkers. Either way you cannot go wrong if you want to escape from the busy resort for some stunning scenery and peace and quiet we are just a couple of minutes drive away.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Lycia has to be the most scenic and most beautiful region of Turkey's Mediterranean coast, with the towering Taurus Mountains plunging straight into the sea, forming a coastline of jagged rocks and rugged islands. Built high into the mountains ancient tombs can be seen. There are many places of interest and one of the most popular excursions is the boat trip from Kas to Kekova (sunken City) this is only accessible by boat. Many people like to visit places of interest like Saklikent gorge, this will be an experience you wont forget. Access to the gorge is by a suspended wooden catwalk. For the less intrepid, restaurants at the base of the gorge are known for their fresh cooked trout. Turks often come here to escape the gruelling heat. Lycia is also famous for The Lycian Way which is a coastal walk from Fethiye to Antalya apparently voted one of the ten most beautiful long distance hikes. Many people like to do this in the winter months when the temperature is mild.
Kalkan / Akbel area
Kalkan is one of the prettiest of the small coastal resorts. Built down the side of a deep valley, its narrow, bougainvillea-draped streets tumbling into a beautiful harbour which is now a smart marina. Kalkan is a very up market place with excellent food and shopping and easy access to numerous historic sights,The local beach is man made, the nearest sandy beaches are Kaputas which is between Kalkan and Kas and vast Patara beach which is (19km - 11 miles west). From Kalkan harbour there is a vast choice of boat trips all offering excellent food and wonderful sight seeing. There is also a good choice of beachclubs some you can reach by water taxi. Kalkan comes alive at night and the shops stay often stay open until midnight. You will be spoilt for choice with the restaurants and the bars. This is definitely a place to people watch. Within a very short distance you can catch the local Dolmus which runs often during the day this will take you in and around Kalkan and there are local dolmus services to Patara beach and Kas. If you want to travel a bit further afield there is the Bati bus which is an air conditioned bus which will take you as far as Fethiye and Antalya stopping in Kas also. From Kalkan bus station you can also catch the big luxury coaches which will take you to Istanbul. The bus and dolmus prices are very cheap and its a great way to enjoy and experience the beautiful scenery and see more of Turkey.
How to get there
The nearest airport to Kalkan is Dalaman. It will take you approximately 1hr 30 minutes to get to Kalkan from Dalaman. I would recommend the following airlines who fly regularly to Dalaman in the high season. www.thompsonfly www.thomascook - fly all year round www.Onurair www.first choice www.monnarch I would also advise either arrange a transfer from the airport Adda travel have some good deals or alternatively Hire a car from Dalaman airport which could work out cheaper.
