Beautiful Turkish villa owned by an artist from New Zealand. Very cute and fully equipped and spacious with its own fresh water swimming pool and a quiet garden for relaxed enjoyment. With the Mediterranean Sea just a 2 minute walk away the Villa benefits from sea swimming on the doorstep. Although located in a quieter location in Kalkan the villa has a beach club on the doorstep with amenities for swimming, food and regular boat access to the village. The village is a 30 minute walk or by car 5 minutes. Plenty of available day trips are available without going to far from home.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan is situated in the Lycian area South West of Turkey, close to the Greek Islands. Only recently discovered as a tourist location Kalkan has been developed as a more upmarket area of Turkey . The village hosts over 200 restaurants plus assorted shops but still maintains a relaxed and extremely friendly atmosphere, typical of the Turkish way of life. Plenty of short day trips are easily accessible from Kalkan and the mountains behind host an array of cooler trout farm dining and the opportunity to explore the exciting uninhibited Turkish way of life.
Kalkan / Kisla area
Kalkans whitewashed Ottoman houses tumble down the hillside through narrow streets and small cobbled alleyways to the sea. There is a small pebble beach in Kisla, however, most holidaymakers prefer to use one of the many beach clubs cut into the rocks at the water's edge around Kalkan Bay, and all provide a wide choice of water sports, food and drinks facilities.
Throughout the day Kalkan is a sleepy relaxed place as many visitors choose to relax in the sun, swim or visit one of the historical sights. As the sun sets Kalkan comes alive and visitors have a seemingly endless choice of restaurants from traditional Turkish to modern and chic. Many tucked away down the narrow streets or on roof terraces affording magical views of the town and moonlit bay.
Kalkan is a very special place blessed by absence of mass tourism and yet having something for everyone. Kalkans beauty is well matched by the genuine warmth of its people who simply want you to enjoy their town as much as they do
Activities in and around Kalkan:
Day cruises: Ferry from Kalkans small yacht harbour to the wonderful, hidden Kaputas Beach and onwards to a swim in the incredible colours of the Blue Cave, the largest sea cave in Turkey. If you’re lucky you’ll spot the nearby dolphins or have freshly harpooned fish for lunch.
Moonlight cruises: arranged via local agents
Patara National Park and Beach: Patara’s stunning 12 km-long beach was voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times Online. The park includes the ancient site of Patara, the major naval and trading port of ancient Lycia. An extensive city with many ancient structures, including what may be the world's oldest lighthouse; it is a key biodiversity area, with rich birdlife and the protected breeding ground of the endangered loggerhead turtle.
Pinara: One of the most spectacular sites in Lycia. A large red cliff dominates the site and hundreds of caves dug into its East façade make it look like a honeycomb.
Xanthos/Letoon: UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sacred cult centre of Lycia. Three side-by-side temples to national deities Leto, Artemis and Apollo
Tlos: best-known for the Ottoman feudal lord’s castle which sits on the top of the promontory with a spectacular 360° view of the Xanthus Valley. Also Roman era baths and necropolis with its carved house and temple type tombs.
Kekova-Simena: An area with beautiful scenery and underwater ruins accessible by boat.
Hiking: The Lycian Way is a 509 km way-marked footpath around the coast of Lycia, rated by the Sunday Times as one of the ten most beautiful long distance hikes of the world. Mild temperatures mean it can be walked through the winter.
Horse Riding at Bezirgan: The authentic Turkish village of Bezirgan comfortably nesting on an ancient mountain lake bed 17 km. away from Kalkan is a MUST.
Saklikent canyon: Half an hour from Kalkan is a canyon accessed by a spectacular narrow foot path suspended from the rock wall. Rafting also available.
Shopping: Kalkan market day is Thursday. Markets also available at Fethiye (Tuesday) and Kas (Friday).
Sea swimming: available from the beach club a 2 minute walk from the the villa, or in Kalkan from tiny decks set on the sea. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are nearby along the coast.
