Home description
Hidden up a narrow side street among the pretty cobbled lanes of the old quarter of Kalkan, you will discover June Un' Evi, (June's House) a traditional Turkish Town House with a small balcony overhanging the lane below. What makes the apartment even more special beside its central location is that it is light and cool. It is ideal for a couple of any age. A romantic, restful or activity filled holiday is guaranteed.
All of Kalkan's many attractions are within walking distance; the maze of cobbled streets with their quaint little shops selling souvenirs, numerous harbour side taverns and the pretty town beach are just 2 minutes walk away. Kalkan is serviced by an excellent bus service.
The apartment has a friendly Turkish family for neighbours - Ramazan and his charming wife Ayshia. A delicious breakfast may be eaten on the roof terrace (with stunning views of the harbour) of Ibo Restaurant, which is just 15 metres down the Lane. Opposite the apartment is an upmarket restaurant with a piano bar.
The apartment is large, has high ceilings, is well equipped (including a safe for your valuables) and tastefully furnished. Please bear in mind that this is a town apartment - situated in a sought after area of “The Old Town of Kalkan” and in the evenings some laughter and music may be heard from the master bedroom.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The climate is compared mainly with Southern California. Kalkan has got a typical Mediterranean Climate; hot and dry in summer and rainy and lukewarm in winter. The sea temperature drops down to 16 degrees in winter; swimmers may bathe in the Mediterranean 9 months of the year. The best season in Kalkan is comprised between May and November. However there isn't anything like walking in winter whilst sunny as temperatures in winter vary between 20 and 22 degrees.
Other places to visit in the area include: * Patara a stunning & underdeveloped 18km stretch of soft golden sand * Bezirgan an ethnic unspoilt Turkish Village * Letoon where the half-submerged remains of Leto's Temple are still inhabited by frogs * Xanthos set in a beautiful location with spectacular remains from the Lycian Capital which was besieged around 540BC.
Kalkan area
Kalkan descends to the sea in terraces of white-washed houses, its steep cobbled streets are colourful and sleepy under the midday heat.
Once the sun has set, the pretty seafront and picturesque alleys come alive as locals and visitors stroll along to their favourite café or restaurant, or wander around the Aladdin's caves that line the back streets. Diving down the narrowest of alleyways you soon find yourself in the tiny intricate maze of old houses – some crumbling and some restored.
During the day Kalkan is laid back as visitors choose to enjoy the crystal-clear waters lapping the Lycian Coast . The pebbly beach next to Kalkan's picturesque harbour is a fine place to swim or sunbathe. Three beautiful beach clubs are a short distance from the apartment. A 5/6 minute ferry ride will take you to the beach clubs “ Patara Prince “or “The Mahal” and a short walk leads to the “Yacht Beach club.” Visiting any of Kalkan's 3 idyllic beautiful clubs is a wonderful way to spend a day.
In the heart of Lycia , Kalkan offers easy access to many of the great classical sites all of which are set in stunning natural surroundings. It is easy to go into the mountains to explore, and enter a lush region of lakes and streams, pastures and alpine villages. Why not try a Jeep safari, or sky diving at Kass?
However you chose to spend your days, no one can resist being back in Kalkan for the evening for the variety and quality of eating places which are on offer. The back street cafes, roof- top or enchanting harbour restaurants are just the place to enjoy delicious and genuine local cooking.
Magical surroundings and a seemingly limitless variety of places to discover make Kalkan irresistible.
The Market comes to town every Thursday and sells a wonderful mixture of products.
A memorable day can be spent on board a local boat - captained by an experienced crew. Visiting deserted beaches is a wonderful experience and the swimming, snorkelling, sea fishing, and eating is heaven . Boat trips can also be taken to one of Kalkan's beach clubs where you can snorkel in crystal clear-water water off the rocks, or even take a deep sea diving course.
