Home description
Cicekli Ev (Home of Flowers) enjoys one of the best locations in Kalkan. It is centrally located in the bay so you can see straight out to the islands. It is slightly elevated, so you get the panoramic views across the entire bay, yet it is within VERY easy walking distance of the Old Town - so no major hikes are needed. (5 minutes stroll - we timed it!). So you can easily enjoy the many wonderful restaurants that Kalkan is rightly famous for & all amenities are close by.
Set in one of the smallest & most well regarded developments in Kalkan, with just 7 other villas, each villa is divided into 3 apartments and each villa has it's own gardens & pool. The apartment is furnished in comfortable contemporary style with a few turkish quirks. The accommodation is set over two floors so it is more like being in your own villa than an apartment , offering a total of 140m2 space (compare this to the more usual 60m2 of a standard 2 bedroom apartment).
Cicekli Ev is perfect for total relaxation - enjoy leisurely breakfasts on the balcony , laze poolside and watch the sun go down from the roof terrace. Sleeping a maximum of 4 people with accommodation over 2 floors, this apartment is ideal for 1 or 2 couples or parents with children over 9yrs.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
History - The Turquoise Coast around Kalkan is steeped in history going back to Alexander the Great with old Lycian rock tombs, Roman amphitheatres and even a sunken city to explore. Popular places to visit include Tlos, Sakklikent Gorge, Kekova (sunken city), Kale (ancient Fort), Pinar and the ruins and amphitheatres at Patara, Letoon and Xanthos. Patara is the birth place of Father Christmas (St Nicolas) and is currently undergoing excavation work to uncover its well preserved ruins underneath the sand. You can see the top third of the lighthouse visible above the ground...in it's time reputed to be the tallest structure in the Mediterranean.
Beaches - Kalkan has it's own sall beach but is also situated between two of the best beaches in Turkey. Kaputas, with its crystal clear emerald water and white sand (10 minute local bus ride), and Patara (30 minute bus ride) is a natural conservation beach where endangered Loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs (so you have to leave at 6pm t give them some privacy).
Scenery - The Turquoise coastline boasts spectacular views of the Mediterranean sea against the beautiful backdrop of the Taurus mountains. As you travel around it is hard not to notice the abundance of olive and pine trees, pomegranate, eucalyptus and cotton. Ancient Lycian tombs are randomly carved into the cliffs and tortoises roam freely (some in our garden!). The drive to Kas takes in the the most spectacular stretch of coastline with views over t the greek island of Meis. Sakklikent Gorge is stunning with its natural beauty and refreshing mountain water.
Shopping - Fethiye (1 hour by road) has a large market every Tuesday, Kalkan on a Thursday and Kas (30 minutes by road) every Friday. The nearby town of Kas has a relaxed bohemian feel to it and is definitely worth a trip.
Watersports - A full range of water sports, snorkelling, diving and kayaking can be found in and around Kalkan.
Boat Trips - Daily boat trips can be booked each morning from Kalkan or Kas harbour. Longer Gulet tours can be booked through a local travel agent.
Kalkan area
Kalkan is a hidden gem in the ancient region of Lycia on the South-West coast of Turkey, known as the Turquoise Coast. It is a charming, sophisticated bougainvillea covered fishing village with traditional Ottoman-style houses nestling in a breathtaking landscape between the Taurus mountains and the azure sea. Once a Greek fishing village called Kalamaki, it maintains its charm to this day with rows of cobbled streets that meander down through the whitewashed Ottoman style buildings to the harbour.
By day you can explore the quaint gift shops and galleries of the old town, have a Turkish bath or massage, take a boat trip from the harbour or have lunch in one of the many restaurants that provide excellent fresh and locally produced cuisine. There is a small white pebble beach as well as a number of stylish beach clubs which are accessed by boat or free taxi service from the harbour. If you prefer to escape the heat of the day, a taxi ride to the cooler mountain village of Islamlar is recommended to explore or have lunch at one of the freshwater trout farms.
At night Kalkan comes to life with shops, bars and the sounds of live jazz or Turkish music playing from candle-lit roof terrace restaurants that look out across the glowing white dome of the mosque and the harbour.
Kiziltas is one of the best locations in Kalkan as it benefits from not being as built up as in some of the other areas of Kalkan, yet is in close proximity to the Old Town. Because of it's central position in the bay, it affords the most spectacular views of the sea, the islands and the old town spreading over to the hills behind Kalamar.

"I just wanted to say thank you for giving us the chance to stay in Kalkan! We had a fantastic holiday, the most relaxing I’ve had, (also the hottest!). Your apartment is absolutely gorgeous, and we were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves for the first ten days. Kalkan is a lovely town, we loved trying out all the restaurants and doing boat trips too." L Moffat
"Your place was a real 'home from home', everything we needed and so convenient for the old town without feeling that you were in the middle of the hustle and bustle. We will certainly be recommending your place to our friends and family." T Lunn
"Absolutely beautiful! I couldn't believe the view when I woke up the first day! The place is beautiful, the beds were comfortable and the whole place was like a home from home. It was like a dream. I can't wait to go back" J Waterhouse, Bournemouth
A quick note just to let you know how impressed we were with you apartment, we have had holidays in this manner for the last 20 years including 8 visits to Turkey. Your apartment is at the top of our list and I would use again and recommend to friends and family. The presentation is most impressive as is the service from your onsite provider. A & G Polkinghorne
