The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Turkey's Turquoise Coast earns its name from the seemingly endless stretches of stunning azure waters which adorn its coastline. This region attracts increasing numbers of visitors who are drawn to its fascinating mix of sustained hot weather, lively culture, beautiful landscape and ancient history, not to mention the delicious cuisine. One trip to this area is never enough to do all the activities on offer. Favourite for a really hot day has to be a trip to Saklikent Gorge to walk waist deep in the icy waters to cool down or enjoy kayaking. Another option would be a trip to the endless sandy Patara beach stopping off to see the ancient ruins nearby or a boat trip to the sunken city of Kekova, lazy days at sea with lunch, spending days at the many beach clubs or simply sunbathing and swimming on Kalkan beach. Opportunities for watersports abound - scuba, sailing, water skiing and sailing are all on offer.
Kalkan / Central Kalkan area
To start enjoying your holiday simply walk out of your door and down the hill into the village where you can start sampling the delights of this former fishing village. Kalkan is known for its tightly knit centre of winding cobbled streets offering a delectable choice of jewellery and art shops, home accessories stores, stalls selling turkish delight and spices and of course a fantastic choice of places to eat. The restaurants and bars spill out near the harbour front and offer the irresistible opportunity of whiling away hours over lunch watching activity in the harbour and enjoying the sunshine.
Boat trips are always on offer whether it be on the larger wooden gulets or smaller water taxis to one of several beach clubs around the bay. Thursday is market day and attracts many visitors every week. The nearby harbour town of Kas is a short drive away on the dolmus bus, taxi or car and has further shopping on offer - enjoy the ride which hugs the coastline and affords really beautiful island and ocean views en route. There are beaches en route too which might tempt you to stop for a cooling swim, perhaps the most famous and dramatic of these is Kaputas beach.

Further details indoors: Some of the villa's elevations are cream stone which gives a very warm welcoming appearance on arrival. All internal living spaces are light and open. The accommodation in Villa Ottoman Garden is arranged over two floors and incorporates all the practicalities for a supremely comfortable holiday with stylishly decorated living spaces. The following is an overview of the accommodation:
The main entrance door opens into a lovely open-plan living space which affords gorgeous views from the living area to the Mediterranean beyond. Furnishings are understated, combining contemporary oak dining and occasional furniture with hints of rich reds in the soft furnishings. There is ample space here to lounge, eat, watch TV/DVDs,enjoy music, read or play games. One area of this space is dedicated to a large well equipped classic cream painted kitchen with double doors onto the front terracing.
All bedrooms have access to outside areas and are arranged as follows:
The master bedroom is on the first floor and has beautiful open views across the bay both from the room itself and from its own private balcony. This is a comfortable but elegant room with antique style black iron bed, fresh white linen and hints of warm reds and orange and with pine wardrobing. This room has a very generous en suite shower room.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed and benefits from Mediterranean views from Juliet-style double doors. Also furnished with black iron bedstead, this room has hints of turquoise to reflect the pool and the sea. Once again the dressing table, wardrobe and bedside furniture are finished in pine. En suite shower is adjacent.
Bedroom 3 is a twin room and is situated on the first floor. It too has en suite shower facilities and has the additional bonus of a side balcony with pool and terrace views. Again the beds are locally made in ironwork.
Bedroom 4 is a ground floor twin room with immediate access to the pool through a private door. The adjacent shower room conveniently serves this bedroom.
The large downstairs shower room serves as a downstairs cloakroom and shower room for Bedroom 4.
There is a generous first floor landing accessed by an open tread wooden staircase which incorporates a laundry area and access to the first floor bedrooms.
Further details outdoors: The villa is as spacious outside as it is inside. Guests have plenty of choice as to where to spend their time in the sun! Lounging by the pool is a favourite option where you can sunbathe with intermittent dips into the water and then maybe enjoy poolside dining. The poolside terracotta mosaic tiled terraces are fringed with pretty pink and red oleander and fragrant bay trees. The Ottoman area, from which the villa takes its name, is situated on the other side of the villa away from the pool. This is a luxurious chillout space complete with floor cushions where one can sit and eat, read or simply enjoy the Mediterranean views beneath the welcome cool shade of a leafy canopy. This is an enjoyable retreat both day and night. The Ottoman area is accessed directly from the living room.
