Home description
Villa Manzara is situated on the hillside just above the delightful village of Kalkan with spectacular views over Turkey’s Turquoise Mediterranean coast. It is a 10 minute walk down to the village, with its multitude of restaurants, many on rooftops, small shops, supermarkets and marina.
The Veranda apartment has three bedrooms, two of which have twin beds and one a double. All bedrooms are air conditoned. The kitchen is fully equipped and leads to a dining balcony with views over bay and mountains. The lounge is large and airy and also contains a dining table and chairs, though it is very rare that one would wish to eat inside.
There is a spectacular view from the roof terrace, and lime, lemon, apricot and plum trees, and flowering bushes, provide shady areas around the pool.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan lies at the heart of Lycia, between Fethiye and Kas, and surrounded by the Toros mountains, and is in an area . of outstanding natural beauty.
It is within easy reach of many historic sites - such as Patara, also with its Turtle beach and 18 kms of sand, Tlos, Myra, Xanthos to name but a few.
Kaputas has a sandy beach at the bottom of a ravine a 15 min drive away with a frequent Dolmus service, or by boat from the harbour.
Kalkan area
Kalkan is a beautiful little Mediterranean harbour village, full of character, charm and hospitality. Bougainvillea covered, wooden balconied villas line the cobbled streets leading down to the harbour. There are many excellent and reasonably priced rooftop restaurants and pavement cafes abound. Fascinating shops selling wonderful Turkish rugs, silver, jewellery and other interesting items are perfect for browsing – and buying !! The local shopkeepers are always helpful but there is never any hassle - you are more likely to be offered a glass of Turkish tea and a chat!! There is always time for both in Kalkan.
For the more energetic there are some wonderful boat and swimming trips and visits to ancient historical sites, which can be organised from within the village, and are well worth doing. Historical sites and trail walks in the mountains are easily accessible. There are numerous outdoor sports available in the area, including canoeing, snorkelling, sailing, para-gliding and scuba diving. Family horse riding treks can be arranged in the mountains with the opportunity to meet local Turkish families.
There are 3 supermarkets, mini markets, pharmacies, 3 banks, ATM, post office, doctors, dentists and much more.
Kalkan has a clean pebble beach with sparkling blue water 15 minutes easy walk from the Villa. Water taxis will take you to nearby beach clubs, with bathing platforms for swimming and with restaurant facilities. There are boat trips to outlying islands.
How to get there
Fly to Dalaman. There are many Charter flights from most UK airports, and we can provide advice by telephone.
Transfer time from airport by car is 1 1/2 hours on good roads. We arrange transfers at cost. For 2008 rates are £50 each way for private car for up to 3 persons, and £60 each way for up to 8 persons.
Car hire is not necessary but we can arrange it at a preferential rate if required. Detailed directions are provided on booking.

Further details indoors: In addition to the Roof and Vine terraces, the pool terrace has sun loungers, tables and chairs. The mature garden surrounding the pool provides shade and has a variety of fruit trees and vines. For serious swimmers !! there is an Apartment Hotel just 100 yards away with the largest pool in Kalkan, and with an outside bar/restaurant and which allows free unrestricted access to guests at Villa Manzara.

The Villa itself is divided into three completely self contained luxury apartments of one, two and three bedrooms. All apartments are furnished and equipped to a very high standard and are used regularly by our family and ourselves. They each have their own roof terrace or veranda or private patio, and the use of the small pool and the garden terrace.
Please do contact me if you are interested in the other apartments. We do not normally rent out more than two apartments at a time unless the whole Villa is booked by one family, in order to preserve privacy.
The rate for the Rooftop penthouse apartment, one bedroom with twin beds, is from £250 per week, and the Garden apartment with 2 bedrooms sleeping 4 people is from £300 per week.
