The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan lies on the Turquoise coast of Turkey 1hr 30mins south drive of Fethiye.Kas lies a 40 min drive to the south. The village is encircled by the Taurus mountains which stretch out into Kalkan Bay. There are many ancient historical sites within easy reach of Kalkan ; Xanthos, Tlos, Pinara and Kekova which are well worth a visit.plus the gorge at Saklikent and the beach at Patara.Visit the traditional mountain village of Bezirigan and call in at a trout farm at Islamlar.
There is no shortage of activities in the area which can be booked at local agents, from boat trips from the harbour (a must) scuba diving and water sports including white water rafting to organised walks, horse riding and even paragliding.
Kalkan is a small Turkish/Greek fishing village with ancient white washed buildings and narrow streets that tumble down to a pretty little harbor. These streets are filled with many shops bars and cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by.There are three banks with numerous ATM machines around town and a Post office which stays open until midnight.
The local market day is Thursday where you can buy everything you require (fruit and veg are a must) and have fun bargaining for t shirts and watches etc. The village comes alive at night with over 150 restaurants and bars to choose from (many rooftop) serving fantastic Turkish and International cuisine at very reasonable prices. Helped along by the wonderfully friendly locals, the atmosphere can only be described as “magic”

"Lovely relaxing holiday with everything you need and an amazing pool"
Dolce Vita was a gorgeous villa with everything you need. Inside the villa and the pool area were frequently cleaned. Fully equipped with everything.
The outside area and pool was amazing and the best feature especially with our 2 young children aged 5 and 8. Although there were a few steps leading up to the villa this didnt affect our holiday, as we probably needed the exercise after all the lovely food we ate.
The views from the roof terrace were amazing too, a great sun trap and a quick place to dry your washing.
2 very good supermarkets nearby and down in the centre of Kalkan there are numerous places to eat. Although we favoured to stay in a couple of times and had a bbq and the kids loved late night swimming.
One of our favourites was the Cafe del Mar for milkshake and pancakes and hunkar ocakbasi for kebabs.
There are a few little hills to walk up when walking back from the restaurants/bars but there was a free shuttle service provided by the hotel nearby that took to and from the supermarket.
Although the local beach is pebbles, the sea was gorgeous but if you prefer sand go to Patara beach where there are also a old ancient ruins to have a look round.
Also the owner of the villa was very helpful with any information we needed prior to arriving.

"excellent property with views and all amenities"
We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this villa. It was cleaned to a high standard and was light and airy. We were very grateful for the fans and air conditioning available as temperatures reached 40+ degrees. The different levels gave amazing views across the town and Kalkan bay. The pool and loungers were beautifully kept and made the time spent at the villa, both comfortable and relaxing.
As the villa was on a steep hillside there were 81 steps to climb up to the property however it was worth it!
