Fantastic all round!

This is a wonderful villa, in a great location, with a stunning view.We really couldnt have asked for more. Evren was brilliant at sorting any queries and questions we had both before and during the holiday we will be back! Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Romantic Getaway

This is a great villa in a beautiful location and is also really good value. You can easily get into the town but it's nice to be just outside as it's more peaceful. The villa is well equipped - we had everything we needed - and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

The website and its photos really don't do Villa Safiya justice. It is a spacious villa, with fantastic views from every room and a terrace for every bedroom overlooking the sea and Kalkan. The furnishings and fixtures are very stylish and of high quality and the property was clean and well-maintained both before we arrived and throughout our stay. We were a party of two couples, which meant we had loads of space (a floor of the property per couple in fact!), yet it was still very affordable, and certainly good value for money.Rahmi was really helpful and his English is great. He quickly answered several questions we had before going on the trip and helped us with everything we needed while we were there, including airport transfers. The villa is so wonderful it was hard to leave, and we spent many lazy days lounging out on the terrace, looking at the always mesmerising view and slipping into the private pool when it got too hot. There is an outdoor barbecue, which made staying in to eat more of an experience.Villa Safiya is in a great location, just on the outskirts of the town of Kalkan, so very peaceful at night, but close enough to walk into the town centre where there are loads of fantastic restaurants and bars. The people of Kalkan are extremely warm and welcoming and always give a very friendly service, which helped to make the holiday even better.Kalkan is a beautiful little town in a picturesque bay, with the Taurus mountains encircling it and in close proximity to lots of interesting places to visit. I particularly recommend trips to Saklikent Gorge and Tloss. There are numerous companies running regular trips to these places, but car rental is so reasonable (around £25 per day) that we hired a car and visited these places under our own steam. To sum up, I can't say enough good things about Villa Safiya and Kalkan, but I would highly recommend anyone visit both and I will certainly be returning as soon as I can.Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Wonderful Kalkan and a convinient Villa

We stayed in this villa for a week - three adults and two children. The view from the villa is simply amazing and the pool is a very welcome addition. It was so hot in Kalkan that week, that a regular dip in the pool was like a medicine. Both Evren, who manages a booking, and Cuma, who is a property manager, are very helpful and rsponsive. Evren helped us with booking a car, following it when the driver got lost on delivery, rescheduling the pick up and getting a driver for a transfer back to take us to Saklikent Gorge. Cuma was on hand always - there was an electrical problem in the house on Sunday, and both Evren and Cuma did everything to fix it very quickly despite it being Sunday.Or only issue with the house was airconditioners that did not seem to blow cold air (and it was almost 40 outside). Evren and Cuma did everything to fix them and finally an air conditioner company serviced them with more freon and they started working. I was very glad to see that our requests were not ignored and things were getting attended to.The villa is very close to the old town and the port, but the road is not yet finished (parts of the road were being asphalted when we were there, so perhaps this is coming soon). I would recommend renting a car while you are there for both getting into town (parking in town is never a problem) and for taking trips to a beautiful Patara beach that is only 15 minutes away.Enjoy!

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Southwest of Turkey is The Turquoise coast. The rich green descending mountains meeting clear blue waters and indenteded coast line with gulfs and coves are making the area truly magnificent and naturally mystique and beautiful. There are many beautiful beaches in Turquoise coast. Ölüdeniz, Patara, Kaputas are some of the well-known ones.

The history in this area takes you 2000 years back to Lycians who are believed to be the first civilizations to apply democracy. The region was always an appealing place for settlement in the history that many different colonies lived here. The Lycians built over 23 cities in the area and today the most famous and visited ones are Patara, Xhantos, Pinara, Olympos, Myra and Tloss.

Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans also have left their cultural marks in these soils after the lycians. There are fascinating mixture of rich factual and mythological history and stories about kings, heroes, saints and worriors.

Kalkan is a sophisticated little village near Antalya in South of Turkey. It was discovered by some greek merchants travelled from Meis Island about 150-200 years ago and became a safe little port for trading.

Kalkan lays on the skirts of high hills where meets the sea and its location, presents an amazing view during day and night for its visitors.

With its stone village houses and their shutter windows surrounded by beautiful fuchsia colour climbers' line down on narrow streets creates a charming and romantic place to be in.

Kalkan especially well-known by its elegant rooftop bars and restaurants that serves wide range of drink and food selection. Popular Italian, Indian and Chinese food along side of traditional Turkish cuisine can be found in company of a wonderful atmosphere.

Although with its quietness Kalkan is in an area that there are many attraction and places to go and see in short distance.

This pretty village was chosen and recommended as the best place to go for a holiday by the English newspaper, The Independent in 2007. Kalkan is one of these places that one experience would be enough to make visitors to go back to this attractive place again and again.
