The swimming pool does not require to be heated during the high season but if you wish it is possible to heat if requested for an additional charge.

It is a 15 minute walk along the Kalamar Road into Kalkan and a 5 minute walk down hlll to the Kalamar Bay Beach Club. If you can tear yourself away from the peace and quiet of the villa, the beach club has the best water sports in the area, including a dive centre with a restaurant and very friendly staff. They will also pick up and return guests to the villa if requested. On the Kalamar Road there are a variety of shops, restaurants, small supermarkets and a pharmacy.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

This beautiful region of Turkey has dramatic, breathtaking views and is steeped in history. Few places can rival it for unspoiled natural beauty with pine covered mountains plunging into the sea, secluded coves, fine sand beaches and the whole region sprinkled with picturesque ruins.

At the southwest corner of the Turkish coast (Turquoise Coast) lies one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of the Mediterranean. Kalkan was once occupied by the Greek Ottomans and their legacy has left an old town full of character. It has steep cobbled streets that wind down towards the harbour and the locals are exceptionally friendly.

During the day Kalkan is almost disarmingly laid-back, as visitors choose to enjoy the crystal clear waters lapping the Lycian coast. The public beach next to Kalkan's harbour was recently extended and is more than adequate for swimming and sunbathing. However you choose to spend your days, no-one can resist being back in Kalkan in the evening, for the variety and quality of eating places on offer is quite astonishing for such a compact town. There are little restaurants that are so low key that many visitors never notice them; just the place to enjoy delicious and genuine local cooking.

Magical surroundings, a dash of relaxed sophistication and a seemingly limitless variety of places to explore make Kalkan irresistible. The restaurants in Kalkan offer an exceptionally high standard of food and service (some of the best prepared and freshest food we've tasted on our worldwide travels). Many restaurants have romantic roof terraces looking out over Kalkan. Eating out is excellent value and the Turkish wines are surprisingly good. The pretty cobbled streets of the old town are an Aladdin's cave with an abundance of shops selling clothes, jewellery, handbags, gifts, etc. There is also a weekly market on a Thursday. There are a number of bars that stay open through the small hours and play music but no loud nightclubs.

"Our best villa holiday ever!"

The villa exceeded our expectations in both quality and location. The villa is equipped to a high standard and is very well maintained.
You are looked after by a very efficient maintenance team who look after your villa during your stay and deliver water for an automatic cooler and fresh daily bread should this be required.
You overlook Kalamar bay and enjoy stunning views from most rooms and terraces of the villa.
The villa is situated in a quieter part of Kalkan with several good restaurants and a couple of well stocked small supermarkets within a 5 minute walk. However, the lovely harbour town of Kalkan is only a £5 taxi ride away or a 20 minute downhill walk. Would recommend a taxi ride home though - which is no problem at any time of night due to the excellent taxi system.
Kalkan has an upmarket feel with over 100 great restaurants (minimal sky TV bars with all day football), so need to ever eat in the same place twice. Many are situated on rooftop terraces and our experience of the food was never a disappointment. Great food for vegetarians also - you can enjoy genuine Turkish food without having to eat pizza and pasta if prefer not to!
The locals are very friendly and seem genuinely pleased you are there.
Our teenagers discovered the 2 'clubs' and spent several nights in town until the small hours, making their own way back by taxi. It felt very safe.
There is plenty to do if you want a day away from the villa. Canoeing, tubing, historic sites, great beaches (pebble and sand) and water sports. Trips can be easily arranged locally and you wouldn't need a car to enjoy the holiday. We did hire a car for a few days and went further afield - the roads were surprisingly good and quiet.
The owner is very helpful and gave us plenty of useful information. She also arranged taxi transfers from the airport for us which were excellent and good value as well as arranging our hire car to be delivered to the villa.
The only 'negative' comment would be that I don't think that the location would be that ideal for the very elderly or very young due its hilly nature. However, for us this was no problem with older children and of course is why the views are always so great.
All in all a fantastic holiday and the first time we have had a unanimous vote to visit the same place twice!

"We would definitely like to go back to Kalkan Retreat."

This is an excellent villa with very good views out to sea to Mouse and Snake Islands. Our family of seven was easily accommodated with spacious en-suite bedrooms. The property is very well maintained inside & outside and is cleaned every day. The terrace outside is spacious and you can cool down in a good sized swimming pool or take advantage of the air-conditioning inside. We had fun playing table tennis most days and found the WiFi access very useful.
There is an approximate 15 minute walk down into the town but most of the time a taxi back uphill is advisable (14TL and there were taxis that accommodated 7 people for the same price).
There are lots of restaurants to choose from but our favourite was The Fish Terrace (a roof top restaurant with lovely views over the harbour and bay) which is run by Korsan Ltd who maintained our villa. They give a discount for people staying at the villa.
When we ate at the villa the best food could be sourced from the butcher near the roundabout and the fisherman's shack down the stairs from the taxi rank (big fresh prawns for 2TL each).
There are a couple of convenience stores within 5 minutes walk of the villa for everyday purchases such as drinks and ice-creams.
The owner of the villa was excellent. She made sure we were provided with a welcome pack of drinks and some food items. She also arranged transfers to and from the airport (ENES car rental).
We would definitely like to go back to Kalkan Retreat.
