The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
Kalkan is a place to fall in love with.... It is a small Mediterranean resort and fishing village on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Kalkan Bay will cast a magical spell from the minute you approach Kalkan via the winding mountain road. It's crystal clear turquoise water and sublime Taurus Mountains that rise steeply behind it provide a dramatic and beautiful backdrop in which to enjoy your stay.
Reminiscent of the Ottoman Empire the narrow cobbled streets lead down to the quaint harbour, through the historic town and are lined with whitewashed villas with shuttered windows, their balconies garlanded with baskets of tumbling bougainvillea.
More sophisticated than neighbouring towns Kalkan boasts a good selection of boutiques offering jewellery, glass, pottery, clothes, leather goods, and carpets, not forgetting the delicious Turkish Delight. Many do not close till past midnight, giving you a perfect browsing opportunity following dinner.
During the day Kalkan is quite sleepy as every morning the boats take tourists to one of the nearby beach clubs or off on excursions. Relax over coffee while watching the boats slip in and out of the harbour. Most people choose to swim or explore the multitude of beautiful ancient Lycian and natural sites of the area.
In the evening its all change when Kalkan bursts alive for long warm evenings. Good dining is a way of life in Kalkan. It has over 100 roof terrace and harbour-side restaurants and bars which offer a wonderful views of the town, sea and stars and serve delightful Turkish, Mediterranean and International dishes.
Historic sites of Xanthos and Letoon are a short distance away, as are the beautifully dramatic beaches of Patara, Kaputas and the mysteries of Kekova island. Or take a Gulet trip, walk the longest gorge in Turkey, enjoy mountain excursions or just stay in the Villa and enjoy the spectacular mountain and sea views - whatever kind of holiday you want - choose Villa Surya and Kalkan.

"A magical, mystical and extremely comfortable time in Kalkan - a home away from home!"
Just want to say what a lovely place Villa Surya is and how important it was to have this luxury and comfort for refreshing soul and body! All of us on holiday are usually hardworking, busy and extremely productive people, and it was just so easy to settle into the villa without missing home. All the beds had high quality mattresses, the sofas too, in fact everything reflected standard and quality! Plus the infinity pool was magnificent. In fact, many times, we did not feel the need to visit other attractions as the view was so beautiful from the terrace and the sun waltz around us all day! Thoroughly recommend Kalkan and Villa Surya! Thank you Shashi and Family for opening your home to the likes of us!

"Everything we could have hoped for and more"
Have just returned from our stay in villa Surya and will definitely return, the views are spectacular. The villa provided everything we needed and more and was exceptionally clean. Spent most days relaxing around the pool, having BBQ's and enjoying the sunshine - there is plenty of shade when it gets too hot. Nice touches were the water cooler and the welcome food pack , since we arrived quite late at night we were able to enjoy breakfast on the patio whilst planning our day. The town of Kalkan is a pleasant walk downhill although we prefered to take a taxi back up (around £4) and there are numerous roof top restaurants and bars to enjoy along with some lovely shops.

Fantastic place to stay. Loads of space. The pool and the spa really have to be seen to be believed we made full use of them both day and night. Great for the kids. Kalkan is really charming, great food, friendly people and so much to do. Kids aged between 5 and 9 and all had a fantastic time. Kids all good swimmers cos pool is 1.7m deep so maybe not for toddlers. Everything we needed was there.
