Manzarali is one of 9 apartments in a modern, well kept block in the select Kormurluk area of Kalkan. The apartment is spacious and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. There are 2 bedrooms, the master with a double bed and the second with twin beds. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge so the apartment comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. The dining table seats up to 6 guests and leads onto the comfortable lounge with its 2 settees, armchair, TV and DVD player. The kitchen is well equipped and has a microwave, fridge with freezer. There is also a washing machine. The apartment benefits from 3 shower rooms – one en suite to each bedroom and one off the hallway.
The large, private front balcony really provides the wow factor. Most properties in Kalkan have sea views, but few can match the close up uninterrupted views of the bay looking back towards Kalkan 'village' - a 15 minute stroll away. On the balcony is a marble table with chairs, sunloungers, sun umbrella and modern gas BBQ. In addition, the apartment has a side terrace which provides shade. The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
There are numerous reasons why holidaymakers return to Kalkan time and time again. If you want to 'chill out' you can dine on your apartment balcony, swim in the apartment pool and wander down to town in the evening to eat at your chosen restaurant. However If you want to be more active there are numerous things to do and interesting places to visit:-
Swimming, Beaches and Watersports
The many beach clubs dotted around the bay including The Palm Beach Club directly below the apartments Diving and snorkelling at Kalamar (2k) and Kas (29k) Kaputas beach with its 188 steps and wonderful turqouise sea (4k) Patara beach - 17 km of uncrowded sand and warm sea (10k)
Places to Visit Kas - Catch the regular bus or dolmus and enjoy the magnificent 29k coast road scenery Fethiye - a one hour car journey will get you to this large town with its scenic waterfront, casbah shopping area in the old town, ancient rock tombs and modern supermarkets. Sakilikent Gorge - the second largest gorge in Europe - magnificent, wade through the icy cold water at the head of the gorge The markets - buy your excellent fake copy Tshirts, watches, shoes etc from the markets at Fethiye ( Tuesday ) Kalkan ( Thursday ) or Kas ( Friday ) Olu Deniz and Karakoy ( The 'Dead City' ) Ephesus and Pammukale - two day trips run from Kalkan
Kalkan / Komurluk area
Once an old Greek fishing village Kalkan is now a friendly, sophisticated resort rich in traditional charm and character. A network of narrow streets and alleyways winding down to the harbour make Kalkan the prettiest resort along the Lycian coast.
Quiet by day the resort comes to life after dusk. For many visitors dining out in the evening is the highlight of the holiday - with a large number of excellent roof top and other restaurants, cafes and bars catering for all tastes and pockets. After your meal try shopping at the numerous boutiques and small shops which litter the alleyways. The resort has several mini supermarkets, banks, chemists, a Turkish Bath. and a post office. Whilst I have no experience of the Turkish Bath I can certainly recommend both the men's hairdressing and the local dentist, both of these services being much cheaper than in England.
Komurluk has developed as the most select area of Kalkan, boasting a relatively small number of expensive properties. The Komurluk apartments have superb sea views which are neither distant nor patially obstructed and Manzarali, which is Turkish for 'with a view', allows guests a wonderful view of Kalkan harbour.
How to get there
Fly to Dalaman airport.
British Airways operates scheduled flights from Gatwick on Thursdays Fridays and Mondays during the summer ( book early for better fares ). Charter flights are available most days from Thomas Cook, Thompsons, First Choice, Excel - try web sites such as AI Travel, Travel Republic, First Choice Travel, Cheapest Flights.com
The transfer time to Kalkan is approximately 1 hour 35 minutes.
