Manzarali
About the home
Manzarali is one of the largest of the 9 individually designed apartments in the select Kormurluk area of Kalkan. It has everything needed for the perfect relaxing holiday. The double and twin bedrooms both have en suite facilities and there is a separate double sofa bed with a third shower room located in and off the main living area. The recessed kitchen area is fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine whilst In the lounge there is a TV/DVD player and an Ipod docking station - with a wi fi facility planned for the beginning of the 2012 season.
The major attraction of the property however has to be the large, private front and side balcony areas which span the entire width and depth of the apartment. Whether you want to sunbathe, eat, BBQ or just sit and read in the comfortable side shaded area you will enjoy one of the best sea and sunset views in Kalkan.
Finally the apartments enjoy a shared swimming pool with a large sunbathing terrace, sunbeds, parasols, two poolside showers and WCs ( SEE GUEST REVIEWS )

There are numerous reasons why holidaymakers return to Kalkan time and time again. If you want to 'chill out' you can dine on your apartment balcony, swim in the apartment pool and wander down to town in the evening to eat at your chosen restaurant. However If you want to be more active there are numerous things to do and interesting places to visit:-
Swimming, Beaches and Watersports
The many beach clubs dotted around the bay including The Palm Beach Club directly below the apartments
Diving and snorkelling at Kalamar (2k) and Kas (29k)
Kaputas beach with its 188 steps and wonderful turqouise sea (4k)
Patara beach - 17 km of uncrowded sand and warm sea (10k)
Places to Visit
Kas - Catch the regular bus or dolmus and enjoy the magnificent 29k coast road scenery
Fethiye - a one hour car journey will get you to this large town with its scenic waterfront, casbah shopping area in the old town, ancient rock tombs and modern supermarkets.
Sakilikent Gorge - the second largest gorge in Europe - magnificent, wade through the icy cold water at the head of the gorge
The markets - buy your excellent fake copy Tshirts, watches, shoes etc from the markets at Fethiye ( Tuesday ) Kalkan ( Thursday ) or Kas ( Friday )
Olu Deniz and Karakoy ( The 'Dead City' )
Ephesus and Pammukale - two day trips run from Kalkan
The Kalkan / Komurluk area
Once an old Greek fishing village Kalkan is now a friendly, sophisticated resort rich in traditional charm and character. A network of narrow streets and alleyways winding down to the harbour make Kalkan the prettiest resort along the Lycian coast.
Quiet by day the resort comes to life after dusk. For many visitors dining out in the evening is the highlight of the holiday - with a large number of excellent roof top and other restaurants, cafes and bars catering for all tastes and pockets. After your meal try shopping at the numerous boutiques and small shops which litter the alleyways. The resort has several mini supermarkets, banks, chemists, a Turkish Bath. and a post office.
Whilst I have no experience of the Turkish Bath I can certainly recommend both the men's hairdressing and the local dentist, both of these services being much cheaper than in England.
Komurluk has developed as the most select area of Kalkan, boasting a relatively small number of expensive properties. The Komurluk apartments have superb sea views which are neither distant nor patially obstructed and Manzarali, which is Turkish for 'with a view', allows guests a wonderful view of Kalkan harbour.

We couldn't believe it when my sister and I (both 20 yoa) awoke, having gone to sleep in the dark after a late flight, to the view we were welcomed with from our large and private balcony. We were met at the apartment by the Guest Relations Manager of the apartments (Enes) who let us into the apartment and showed us around, despite it being the middle of the night. He showed us all we needed to know and spoke excellent English and was very friendly. Enes then visited us every morning to check we had no problems and was very knowledgeable of Kalkan and the surrounding area: recommending specific shops and restaurants and places we may find of interest. The apartment itself was superb. It was immaculately cleaned and kept that way throughout our week stay by the maid each day. She was very friendly also. She changed our beds and towels half way through the week too. The apartment was so well equipped with the kitchen fully capable of a self-catering holiday with everything you needed and a washing machine. Air con was throughout, including the bedrooms and living areas and the bedrooms were particularly spacious with an ensuite in each. The balcony was very big with dining area, 2 sunbeds and a seating area with shade around the side of the apartment (all connected into one). The seating area was especially pleasant and comfortable. Also a BBQ which we used twice, with no problem. The sun rises behind the apartment in the morning, so you don't get the morning sunshine, however it is still very warm and by midday it reaches the balcony and you have it for the rest of the day and to watch it set behind the snake and mouse hill in front at around 8pm each night. The pool was always very quiet with no more than 3 people being in the pool at once! Very clean with it being cleaned daily. Great sunbeds around the pool too and the pool had the sun from early morning as it is lower than the balcony. Kalkan itself was a 15 minute walk along a rather difficult temporary road - Enes suggested that this was only for the this season and we were warned about it. Taxis are only 7-10tl (depending on driver!) to and from the apartment so when it was too hot, taxi was always a good option. The beach is lovely, though the sea a little chilly due to the under-water springs! However, very refreshing when the weather is so gorgeous! Also the beach club was only a 10minute walk down steps from the apartment or even a free taxi ride if you phone Palm Beach Club and request if you so wish (suggested for the return to the apartment as a lot of steps or very steep hill!!!) Such a perfect holiday: perfect apartment, perfect service and staff and great organising from Graham and his wife at their end to make sure our stay was enjoyable. |
Guestbook for Manzarali
I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you for you allowing us to stay in your wonderful apartment. It truely was a relaxing break ( even with two daughters, one being a teenager!! ) and exceeded our expectations.
Kalkan is a pretty resort with wonderful locals ............... anyone who has visited Turkey before ( myself & my daughters ) will know that you will come across the hassle and tacky music bars!! Kalkan was a world away from this and has kept is charm. No hassle, just genuine locals being friendly .......... it was wonderful.
We went on a boat trip one day which was lovely and the girls caught fish. It was so nice to take the fresh fish back to the apartment and cook them on the BBQ.
Patara is a fantastic beach, the sand goes as far as the eye can see and some wonderful ruins to look around, we went there by local mini bus, we found it easy enough.
The local beach club ( we went nearly every day ) was lovely and the food was nice enough. The girls loved to snorkel there.
When we could tear ourselves away from the apartment we would eat in town ............ we would walk down in the evenings and get a taxi back. The prices did vary on depending how fast the driver was!! They were inexpensive!
The choices of places to eat were amazing ............... "Small House" was quirky as it was in someones house. The kebab shop ( where Robbie William's gets his from ) were amazing!
We also ate in a few times as the balcony was wonderful and it seemed a shame not to sit there and enjoy the view. We found the local butchers helpful and he made up chicken shish kebabs for me. The local grocer had fresh fruit and veg, we often bought everything then walked up to the supermarket to stock up on water and get a free taxi back to the apartment.
The apartment was kept very clean by the maid who was in daily to sweep up and empty the bins, she worked extremely hard in what was very hot conditions. I can only thank you once again for what was a wonderful family holiday .............Kalkan .........The real Turkey!!!
Regards,

We had a wonderful holiday. The apartment was fantastic. Julie Walton Sept 2010
Returned home last night after a lovely stay in Manzarali. Unfortunately the week just flew by. The apartment has been really comfortable & we can honestly say that it was a real struggle to prise ourselves away from the balcony, even in the evening, a super location. The management team were friendly and helpful and looked after us. Thank you for letting us use your apartment - we had a cracking week.

We have just returned from holiday and what FANTASTIC time we had! We were bowled over by the apartment, the unbelievable view, the friendliness of the Turkish people, the sights, the food (shall I carry on?!!) The infomation pack you sent us was invaluable and everything worked out perfectly. We visited both Patara & Kaputas Beach, Saklikent Gorge, the ruins at Tlos, Letoon & Patara, the markets and quaint shops in Kalkan & Kas. We sampled the local cuisine at a few very good restaurants and went for an evening meal at an hotel which included traditional dancing in which we al participated! The girls did a 3 day diving course in Kalkan I bought 2 carpets in Kas - I can carry on ad infinitum! Our only complaint was that we were only there for 10 days. Would love to go back next year, but for at least 2 weeks. Thank you so much for the use of your lovely apartment and all the touble you went to to make our holiday so special. When I close my eyes I still see the breathtaking views and the beautiful sunsets!

Just to let you know we had a fantastic holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the apartment., albeit that the weather was so good that we mainly lived on the patio!. We must say that Omer and Umit are a great asset to the apartments and both were extremely helpful. We both fell in love with Kalkan and the Turkish people and will be in touch in the future for a return visit.
