The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Kalkan bay is set below the Taurus mountain range. During the summer months the weather is very warm with almost no rainfall. The season begins in May until the end of October with the hottest months being July and August when temperatures can really soar.

There are many historical sites to visit within easy distance of Kalkan such as Xanthos which once was the capital of Lycia and has ruins of an amphitheatre, a temple ruin and also the remains of a christian church and well worth a visit. AlsoTlos which has a Turkish fortress from the Ottoman period of Turkeys history.

The gorge at Saklikent is a fascinating place to visit, and a trip to Patara beach is a must and was named a few years ago by the Sunday Times as one of the best beaches in the world. There are very reasonable car hire charges to these places should you wish to drive yourself, or bus or taxi services again at very reasonable rates

Kalkan area

Just a few steps from the villa is the hotel Samira whose facilities are open to our guests. There they have pool tables, plasma screen film nights, a Turkish dancing evening where you can join in if you are feeling energetic!. A large swimming pool, outdoor restaurant and bar.

There are many very good restaurants in Kalkan serving international cuisine, and the old town, just a 10 minute walk away is full of traditional shops with a market on Thursdays which lots of bargains, especially beautiful Turkish cotton. There are many sites of historical interest within one hours drive from Kalkan, or why not visit Olu Deniz again a short distance away to try some hang gliding.

Many boat trips are offered from the bay, with whole day trips with an on board meal, or shorter trips around the islands also available. There is a free ferry boat which sails all day to and from the beach club across the bay.

How to get there

We have found that the most useful websites to get reasonable air fares are www.cheapest flights.com, or Thomas Cook airlines sometimes do some very good deals, you could also try www.travel supermarket.com
There are two or three good car hire companies in Kalkan, or you may like to travel on the local buses which are very frequent and cheap to use.

There is never a shortage of taxi services which are again very reasonable and will even do day trips for you to many of the wonderful historic sites around Kalkan, we have done this ourselves and it is great as the taxidrivers will take you wherever you want and will never mind how long you stay at each destination.

Dalaman airport is about 1hr 30mins from Kalkan, and we would be happy to arrange transfers to the villa and back through our agent if you would like us to - the price for the transfers depends on the number of people travelling

After a lovely evening down in the old town of Kalkan a taxi ride back up to the villa will only cost the equivalent of £2

Guestbook

My family and I stayed in Syeem Villa last July, the villa was everything we could have wanted in comfort, facilities, location, and the views over the bay are simply stunning!. It was our first visit to Turkey. and we can't wait to go back - just hope Syeem Villa is available during my holiday dates!

We visited the Villa in October 2006 the weather was still great, and the town was very much still open for business with an excellent choice of shops, market day's and restaurants, most with rooftop dining as the views are stunning.

The transfer transport to and from the airport was very friendly and efficient, the Villa agent was waiting for us on arrival at the villa, again very friendly and welcoming.

The villa itself had everything we needed to enjoy a really relaxing holiday. Its was very clean, bright and fresh. The bedrooms were both of good size with very roomy en-suites. The views from all floors let you lose yourself in the beauty of country. The kitchen was really well equipped and everything has been thought of. The lounge area had plenty of seating along with TV & DVD. The outside of the villa and pool again really well equipped with sun-beds and parasols with easy access back into the kitchen or lounge. Although there are villa's either side you did not feel overlooked. The pool and villa cleaning services was very unobtrusive.

Everything about our holiday was better than we expected from the re-arranged pick up from the airport to the welcome pack of essential supplies. The villa itself was well equipped to a high standard from kitchen to bedding, TV package to poolside furniture. The cleaners were inconspicuous efficient and courteous. The setting of the villa gave us exceptional panoramic views across the bay and of the town below us. We found the local shops and restaurants only too willing to deliver, the baker arranged to visit each day, fresh bread at breakfast is highly recommended! Many congratulations on your villa you should be rightly proud of it

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in Kalkan at the end of August 2007.We stayed in Syeem villa and were delighted with the fact that everything was there for our comfort. The villa was well appointed and clean and nicely maintained. The views are absolutely beautiful, lying by the pool looking over the bay was amazing. We went on trips to the nearby historical sites, and even at that time of year we were spolt for choice when eating out. Highly recommended.

We would like to let you know what a wonderful time we had in your Kalkan Villa. The only disappointment was that we booked it for oneek instead of two!
The villa was everything we could have wished for and Kalkan was equally wonderful, as yet unspoilt.
Thank you both for our best holiday to date.
