The Stone House
from £58 /night help
Villa | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The Stone House is a wonderful traditional Turkish house with shuttered windows, thick stone walls to keep the inside cool (although it is also fully air-conditioned), and wooden, canopy covered balconies with superb sea views. A mere 100 mtrs to the beach and harbour, breakfast on the roof terrace can be enjoyed whilst watching the boats leave the harbour for a day at sea. Inside the villa is spacious and modern, and spread over 2 floors; the ground floor dedicated to the open plan lounge and luxury kitchen, with the lower ground dedicated to the bedroom and bathroom. Outside are the well kept gardens, small terrace, and large roof terrace. The Stone House is a truly unique property.
We have tried to provide everything to ensure you have a superb holiday, such as those all important Beach Towels, hairdryer and full length mirror. As well as a welcome hamper to get you started, there is a coffee perculator in the luxury kitchen, free wi-fi, satelite TV, DVD, ipod docking station. Inside the house has been recently renovated and restored to its natural beauty, The Stone House is a unique property in the Old Town of Kalkan. With some of the best views in Kalkan and with a very large roof terrace (top of the house), this is truly a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. There is no pool, but the pebble beach and Kalkan's nearest beach club is a mere 100 mtrs away. No car is required as Kalkan restaurants and shops are all within a minute's walk away. As we also own the 4 bedroom villa next door which is called Villa Kismet (ref 1360046), The Stone House is also useful for additional guests for larger groups. (Both can be rented separately).

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
Situated along the Mediterranean Coast, also known as the Turquoise or Lycian Coast, Kalkan is frequently referred to as the Turkish Riviera. Surrounded by the Tauras Mountains, Kalkan combines the stunning sea views with an equally stunning mountains as a rugged backdrop. 30 mins East is the small town of Kas, or 1 hour West is the larger town of Fethiye. The whole coastline is dramatic due to the mountains and sea.
Formerly a small fishing village, Kalkan unlike many other resorts has retained its charm and character which is its main attraction. Kalkan mainly attracts couples or families with older children, and is suitable for anyone who is looking for rest and relaxation. As well as the local pebble beach, there are a number of beach clubs with full facilities and steps directly into the crystal clear warm seawater. So you can either top up the tan in peace, or get out there and enjoy the watersports. Horseriding, canoeing, scuba diving and gorge walking are all available locally, as well as local boat trips which are a must for anyone wanting to relax on the open water.
As the sun goes down, most people head into the small, quaint centre to browse the boutique style shops and eat in the many many restaurants. The food in Kalkan is simply out of this world and with views to die for either along the harbour front or on the many roof top terraces, you'll be in heaven. Night life is limited to a few tasteful bars, each catering for different age groups. But for anyone who's never experienced Turkey before, the hospitality of the Turkish people is second to none. So whether you're looking for a holiday around the pool or something more energetic, there is something for everyone in Kalkan.

"Good enough to return to"
A remarkable transformation has been undertaken to turn an old stone dwelling into a luxury house for two. It's plenty large enough for 2 people and roomier than the photos depict. It's been… More

"Superb property, stunning view."
We decided on this property after visiting Kalkan twice over 4 years but staying in hotel apartment style accomodation. It cost more but was certainly worth every penny. There is far more space in bot… More

"Quality accomodation with probably the best roof terrace view in Kalkan!"
We stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of September and had a really good time. The house is in a great location, about 100m above the town beach, up a path to the right of the storm channel that runs down to the sea and a couple of minutes from the harbour and the centre of the town. Although very central it's also very quiet and we could hear none of the music or bustle from the town itself.
The house is rectangular in shape with three floors. Access is to the first floor which contains the well equipped kitchen, with fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and oven and hob. This floor also houses the comfortable integral living area, with sofa, two chairs, table, TV and video and dining table. There are also two balconies off, with table and chairs on each.
Accessed from the first floor via a spiral staircase down, is the bedroom and toilet/bathroom, which is on the ground floor. The bedroom is large with a comfortable king sized bed and storage. There is a separate w/c with hand basin, and a large shower room with a very efficient shower. Both floors have very effective A/C units, which we didn't need to use a great deal as the thick walls and shuttered windows helped keep the heat out.
But the crowning glory of the house is the roof terrace. Reached from outside, it is the same size as the building footprint and has superb views over the whole of the bay and the islands. Every morning we could see turtles coming up to breathe in the sea below and at 10am we could see all the day trip boats leaving the harbour. At night, the sun set over the hills to the west, a perfect spot and time for a G&T!
