The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Kalkan is part of ancient Lycia. There are many remains of Ancient Lycia scattered around this part of Turkey. Tlos, Pinara, Zanthos, Sdyma and Letoon are but a few of the Lycean sites. The weather is sunny and mild from mid April to the end of October, with the hottest season being July and August.

There are many beaches within reach of Kalkan. Nearby Patara beach ranks as one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean. Another fine beach, about 6k towards Kas is Kaputas beach, across from Kaputas Gorge.

There are many sights of natural beauty. Saklikent Gorge is spectacular, as is the famous Olu Deniz beach. You can take an all day boat tour from Kas or from Ucagiz, going around the bays and islands to see Kekova and Semena and the sunken Lycian remains just under the water.

The charming village of Kalkan has steep narrow lanes climbing down the harbour.

On the way down to the harbour, you will pass a variety of shops and restaurants. With so many restaurants to choose from, you can’t go far wrong. One of our favourites is Belgin’s Kitchen—near the small amphitheatre in the middle of town.

There are also all day boat tours from Kalkan which take you to the nearby Snake island and Mouse island for a whole day of swimming and relaxing.

"Great villa and town"

Well appointed villa with great views across the bay in a good complex. I didn't try the restaurants in the complex because there are lots of good ones in the town, 10 minutes walk away. The large balcony is great for meals if you cook in the villa, or just for sunbathing. Nice swimming pools, with one of them being adult only. No beach but you can swim in the sea from platforms - there is a small beach in the town. I hired a car and the wonderful Patara beach is just 15 minutes drive away. There are many other worthwhile places to visit by car.
Not suitable if you're averse to steps or hills.

"Another Fabulous Fortnight"

This was our third visit to Villa Bellevue and hopefully won't be the last.
We had a fabulous holiday, the villa is just perfect for us as we like the quiet life around the adult pool during the day and getting a taxi into Kalkan each evening for a lovely meal and drinks! If we were lucky enough to have our own place in Kalkan, Villa Bellevue would be our dream! It is so well equipped, everything we need is there!
We did the boat trip from the hotel twice this year. It was good value for money and really enjoyable.
Would love to return.
Thank you Lou for letting us stay again in your beautiful villa.

"Lovely villa in beautiful surroundings"

We stayed in Villa Bellevue in early May 2014 and had a wonderful holiday there. The villa is all we could have asked for......very comfortable with all amenities and with a view to die for. We were there very early I the season so the resort was quiet but most of the facilities were open and there was plenty of room around the pool.
We booked our car hire and day trips through Define tours who had excellent rates and were very reliable for the day trips. Would highly recommend them.
All in all a great holiday and look forward to returning sometime soon.

"This villa is lovely and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday"

Beautifully kept and clean with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The villa is spacious and furnished from local sources and has great views from the balcony across Kalkan. Beach towels are supplied (saves packing them) and there's a small supply of books and DVD's. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The Patara Prince Resort has 2 pools and steps (lots of steps - 362!) down to a platform for access to the sea. We didn't use the pools as it was end of season, but were lucky enough to have fantastic weather and swam in the sea most days.
We enjoyed a Turkish bath and massage at the resort too.

Kalkan itself is about 20 minutes walk away mostly along an unmade road (they have built a main road nearby and it's not advised to walk along this). There are several supermarkets, banks and a market on Thursdays. It's easy to get money out and you can pay in Turkish Lira, £'s or Euros just about everywhere.

It has some lovely gift shops and the locals are friendly but not too pushy. There are lots of restaurants - worth checking out several before you choose as they sometimes offer discounts. Some of the best food we had was at a cafe; much cheaper! (Look out the places where the locals eat - always a good sign.)

We hired a car for a few days. Saklikent gorge is well worth a visit (take some dry clothing!) and we loved the boat trip from the neighbouring town of Kas along the coast to the sunken city. It was a great day out and the food on the boat was excellent. Oh, and the boat was called Dennis!

"A delightful stay"

I had a lovely week staying at Villa Bellevue. The villa was of a high standard and close to the village - Kalkan (a 20 minute walk away) which was delightful. Lots to do and see and plenty of places … More

"Just gorgeous"

We stayed at Villa Bellevue on our honeymoon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It was absolutely beautiful, stunning setting, and we had a fabulous week there. Lou was really helpful in making sure everything was set up for us so we had some food and drink in the fridge when we arrived in the early hours, and even had flower petal hearts on our bed! Lou also gave us some great recommendations of things to do in the area, restaurants to visit etc.

"A fabulous villa in an amazing location"

This was our first ever visit to Turkey, and we have to say we are absolutely smitten!! Kalkan is truly an enchanting place, and the resort of Patara Prince is magical. What a view from the balcony of Villa Bellevue! We'll never forget arriving that first night and seeing all the twinkling lights across the bay!
The service we received was excellent. The owner of the villa was courteous, friendly and efficient, and Hamza (her agent in Kalkan) was always on hand to help us if we needed it. He also arranged reliable taxi transfers to and from the airport, which made life run very smoothly indeed!
The resort of Patara Prince is exceptional, and offers everything a family could wish for during their stay, from a mini supermarket to tennis courts and no less than 4 swimming pools, and - best of all - beach platforms which give you direct access to the sea. We had no need to hire a car as we easily walked into town and back (20 mins each way), and tour operators offered a door to door service.
We had amazing sunny weather every day, temperature in the 30s. We managed to fit so much in even though we were only there for just over a week. We went on 3 separate tours, and would highly recommend AbiTours to future visitors - we found their service excellent. We visited Xanthos twice (a firm favourite), went river rafting (great fun), climbed through Saklikent Gorge, saw the ruins at Tlos, swam at Patara Beach, went on a full-day boat trip, visited the sunken city of Kekova and the Crusader castle at Simena, and sampled local produce at a trout farm restaurant in Islamlar! Apart from all that, we explored Kalkan, relaxed by the sea or the pool, or lounged on the lovely balcony (often late into the night, gazing up at the stars).
We would highly recommend this holiday destination to friends, although it may not be suitable for very young children or for any with mobility problems, due to the steep steps. There is, however, a regular minibus service which gives you free rides from the top of the resort to the bottom and back.

"Fabulous vllla with a view to match"

Situated in the upper part of the Patara Prince Resort, Villa Belleview is ideally located. Just a short walk from the resort entrance, it is very convenient for anyone eager to explore the environments. Access to the sea is through a scenic walk down some steps (260 of them!). The return journey for the lazy or less able is via a very frequent shuttle bus which stops right at the villa. The villa itself is very comfortable, well equipped with a large sitting room. WiFi is available at the resort hotel and at both seaside pools, with further coverage to all the villas "imminent", according to local rumour.

"Another Great Holiday in Paradise"

This was our second visit to Villa Bellevue! A bit different for us this time as it was just my husband and myself and not our 2 daughters and one boyfriend!!! The villa was just as we remembered it, perfect. We had a lovely relaxing time, lots of lovely meals. Hoping to return next year if possible!

"A truly relaxing oasis, beautifully furnished and with panoramic views"

We so appreciated this lovely place. It was spacious, tastefully furnished, and had a very large scenic balcony looking out onto the bay. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. It was also well situated in the Patara Prince Resort, avoiding difficult flights of steps by being located just by the shuttle drop off point. We would most definitely recommend it .
