Kalkan Secrets: Moonlight
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Location is just about everything in this town. Regulars will tell you that you should avoid being stuck out on Kalamar Bay or in the Patara Prince resort, where you have to either get an expensive taxi or suffer a long hot walk to get to Kalkan's wonderful restaurants & bars.
Moonlight's location is superb - very peaceful, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere... but a quick, easy stroll to the town centre, so you can enjoy Kalkan's delights to the full and still get back in one piece!
The studio is set in its own grounds next to a small block of five apartments (we also own two one-bedroom apartments in the block, and the two-bedroom penthouse apartment, any of which may be available for rent if Moonlight is booked). All of the apartments are privately-owned and share a huge, spotlessly clean pool.
Moonlight's cooking facilities are limited to a microwave and a twin electric hob, so Moonlight us ideal for people who want a cost effective place to stay in Kalkan from which to sample all the town's fantastic eating places.

|Further details indoors|
- A self contained studio apartment, set apart from the main apartment block, with twin beds, separate wc/bath/shower room and a small kitchenette, ideal for preparing breakfast, tea/coffee or snacks.
- Air-conditioned and well-equipped, and only recently refurbished, this cosy and welcoming unit is perfect for guests wanting to get away from it all at relatively low cost.
- You can sit and read or sunbathe on the secluded garden terrace, or join the other apartment guests by the pool - it's entirely up to you!
- We haven't provided a TV in the apartment because, quite frankly, most visitors to Kalkan probably wouldn't use one! There are, however, a few bars in the town that have TV screens
- Cleaning: thoroughly cleaned to a high standard before each guest arrives and thereafter on a weekly basis; additional cleaning on request. Linen, bath towels and beach towels are changed regularly (normally twice-weekly).
-The pool and poolside terraces are kept clean and well-maintained by friendly, English speaking staff who are also on hand 24/7 in the event of any emergency
-In case of water cuts (an occasional annoyance in Kalkan) we have a huge reservoir which can supply sufficient water for all the apartments, for days if necessary.
-See our kalkansecrets website for more details and lower prices

NO fighting over sunbeds here... the magnificent pool is more than large enough to accommodate everyone in the small block, even if it's full. Moonlight studio has a large terrace and a garden area, and is allocated 2 sunbeds and parasol by the pool.
Please note that the kitchenette in Moonlight studio is just that... a food preparation area rather than a full kitchen. It is perfectly suitable for preparing snacks and hot/cold drinks but is not really intended for full self catering. From experience, our studio guests are typically either a) members of larger family groups that have the use of one or more of the other apartments for full meal preparation, or b) couples, whose idea of perfect accommodation in Kalkan is just somewhere to sleep and relax (main meals to be enjoyed in one of the many superb restaurants that Kalkan is famous for)!
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
At the centre of the Lycian region, Kalkan is well placed for visiting many historical sites such as Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos, Patara, Kekova (the Sunken City), Demre, Myra, Phaselis, Olympos, Aspendos and the Saklikent Gorge.
Kalkan is friendly, warm and charming, with an assortment of cosmopolitan restaurants and bars, many with rooftop terraces and superb views, crammed between boutiques and shops in amongst the cobbled streets. The locals are very welcoming and the whole town has a unique feel that attracts visitors back year after year. Most holidaymakers you meet in Kalkan have either been before... or, if it is their first time, they vow to return soon!
Kalkan is relatively quiet by day - most holidaymakers choose either to relax by the pool, or go to one of the many beach clubs; maybe take a boat trip, or go sightseeing, or just browse the many shops and boutiques in the cobbled streets. All very relaxed! However, the town and harbour area come to life after sundown, when the bars and restaurants (we believe there are over 100, but who's counting?) open up and offer their hospitality.
The food here is legendary; always of a high standard - thanks to the healthy competition - and the menus are extremely varied, from traditional Turkish recipes to international high cuisine; using fresh local produce and always prepared with tender loving care. These guys are very proud of what they do, and they do it very well!
We've never yet met anyone who doesn't love the place.
In the year 400 BC, Herodotus said of Kalkan: “It is the closest place to the stars on Earth” and, according to rumour, one who drinks from Kalkan Spring can never leave…we don’t actually know if the Spring still exists, but it is easy to see why the rumour has persisted. One visit and you are hooked!
