"Faultless ."

We stayed at Koonoopee 2 for two weeks and loved it! The villa was exactly as advertised and felt welcoming from the minute we walked through the door. It is beautifully furnished, giving a homely feel, and is equipped with everything you would need for a holiday. It was clean and tidy on arrival, and the owners were great to deal with during the booking process. The pool and garden area is delightful and very well looked after, we had a a bbq one evening using the outside stone built bbq,The pool and garden area were beautifully lit, which made for a lovely setting for an evening in.(we bought ready prepared bbq marinated chicken, lamb kebabs and meatballs from butcher in town, and salad, veg etc from the shop next door to it) . We went into Kalkan most evenings, and ate in some fantastic restuarants, Kalkan is a beautiful harbour and village with a vast choice of terrace style or harbour setting restuarants and nice bars. The walk into Kalkan took us approx 20 minutes, 10 minutes down to the nearest large supermarket,,,,we always got taxis back to the villa because the hill upwards from the town is undeniably a big hill :-) however taxi's are cheap, and plentiful..... and well used to transporting most holidaymakers in Kalkan safely back and to to their accommodation .Kalkan is full of hills, which is how you get the beautiful views. Most accommodation is set on a hill of some description. We would highly recommend Koonoopee 2 villa, it was faultless, as were the staff who look after the villa and offer any help you need during your stay too. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday!

Koonoopee 2 is a fully air conditioned luxury 3 bedroomed villa, with it's own kidney shaped pool enjoying beautiful open sea and mountain views with good privacy. The main ground floor is of open plan and comprises a shower/wet room, lounge furnished with two sofa bed settees (one three seater and the other for two people), coffee table, satellite TV, stereo player (with Aux input) and DVD player. Wi-fi is available.

Please search Trip Advisor for reviews of our wonderful villa, Koonoopee 2.

The ground floor kitchen/diner comprises a fully fitted kitchen with all of the usual facilities together with a large dining table and chairs.

The mature gardens have many banana and citrus trees, including orange, lemon and grapefruit. There are also rose and jasmine bushes whose perfume lends a tropical relaxing feel to the gardens, pool and terrace.

Outside a stone BBQ and undercover dining is provided with a dining table and chairs. Alfresco meals are a must in the warm Turkish summers.

Koonoopee 2 has a safe in which you can keep your valuables plus a good selection of games, DVDs, cds and books all designed to enhance your holiday experience in Turkey. Now that the gardens have matured the terrace and pool areas afford a high level of privacy - with the chance of picking olives, bananas, limes or lemons.

To assist on your arrival a welcome pack will be provided to help you settle in and start your holiday on the right foot.

On the first floor in the villa are two bedrooms - one with a double bed, the other has two single beds. Each is en-suite and have a balcony with views of the Mediterranean.

On the second floor is an amazing bed room, with a double bed, again en-suite with a balcony.

Towels, hair-dryers and bedding are provided and the villa is serviced once a week. A cot and high chair are available.

We have a management company in Kalkan who take care of the villa, servicing the pool twice a day and watering the gardens. Cleaning of the villa is carried out once a week. If there is a problem with the villa let them know and they will arrange for it to be sorted.

NB The pool is two metres deep and is for the sole use of guests.

On day of departure guests should vacate the Villa by 10am to enable the Villa to be prepared for the next guests. On the day of your arrival the villa is available from 3pm, NB These times are usually flexible depending on the workload of the maintenance company.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Situated at the foot of the Taurus Mountains on Turkey's turquoise coast Kalkan is a pretty former Greek fishing village. The small harbour is surrounded by a bazaar and numerous shops, restaurants and bars which cater for all budgets.

The views both out to sea and towards the mountains are truly stunning and the pretty cobbled streets of the old town add to the peaceful atmosphere.

Additionally Kalkan has a small pebble beach with crystal clear water adjacent to the harbour. There also a number of beach clubs all within a short water taxi ride. Nearby is the magnificent 15 kilometre long Patara beach. With it's beautiful white sands Patara is the breeding ground of the world famous Loggerhaed Turtle.

The coast road to Kas, an attractive harbour town some 20kms distant, is reputed to be one of the world's top 20 coast drives. As an added bonus en route is Kapatus beach withit's gorge and stunning sandy beach and Azure seas.

Kalkan is situated in once was the ancient Lycian Empire and as a result there are numerous historical sites. The site of Lycia itself is less than a 15 Kilometre drive. There is also the beautiful Saklikent Gorge, a fantastic place to cool off in it's swift flowing icy waters.

Hire a car or take one of the local buses, you are sure to be impressed by both the coast and mountains. As an added bonus the Turkish seem to have a motto of 'we are here to help' - nothing is too much trouble.

Kalkan by day is fun. The town centre of Kalkan becomes surprisingly empty during the day as guests set off for daytime activities. Popular activities include beach-going, relaxing at beach clubs or swimming pools, water sports, exploring the ancient lands around Kalkan and boat and gullet trips. Don't forget to stop by Kalkan's Thursday Market to pick up some great bargains and see local life.

Kalkan by night is exciting. The town centre transforms at dusk as it begins to bustle with activity - there is much to do: shopping, dining, cafés, excellent bars, or just going for a stroll along the twisting active streets or by the peaceful harbour.

There are plenty of shops in Kalkan, all of which open early in the day and stay open until at least midnight. And unlike other resort towns, shopping in Kalkan is completely hassle-free. An evening spent strolling about the winding streets and alleys while window shopping can be very rewarding as there are so many things to see and buy in the many speciality shops.

You can find almost anything in Kalkan, from carpets to t-shirts and boxes of Turkish Delight and the traditional blue-coloured glass "evil eye" for warding off evil spirits. Gold and silver jewelry is a great buy in Turkey as it is sold by its weight. Lovely antiques, collected selectively from all over Turkey during the winter months, are very attractive as well. Other items include:

intricately-decorated ceramics, hand-blown glass, hand-carved Meerschaum pipes and backgammon sets inlaid with mother-of-pearl.

Enjoy shopping for excellent clothing. Several tailors are ready to make you made-to-measure clothing of excellent Turkish cloth. Affordable boutiques offer high fashion clothing, hand-knit articles and leather goods (for excellent prices). You can even buy that belly dancing costume you've always wanted.

Beautiful Turkish kilims (hand-woven rugs) and carpets (traditional knotted rugs) are very beautiful and will last well over a century. Take your time to find the one which fits you perfectly. There is a vast number of types which come from many regions of Turkey with different styles and stories which your salesperson can describe to you in detail. If you can't afford a carpet or kilim this time, there are also shops which offer lovely high-quality articles made of kilims, such as cushion covers, bags, purses, wallets and slippers.
