We have enjoyed a lovely stay at this apartment. It was exceptionally clean and contained everything you could need to make it a home for a couple of weeks. Sorting out the details was managed with ease; Anne and William were very helpful and the communication with them was excellent. The location is wonderful - great views out to sea and just above the quiet town of Kalkan. Kalkan is very hilly so recommend having transport particularly if you have young children. We hired a car at Dalaman (company were super efficient and friendly and waiting for your arrival - quite cheap too considering it was high season. We paid 260GBP for 2 weeks rental with rentacardalamanairport.com) and had no problem following the route to the apartment with Anne's directions - very straightforward. We were able to get out and explore (Saklikent Gorge was the highlight - about a 25min drive from Kalkan), and avoid too much hillwalking in the heat of the day. So, I would definitely consider getting some wheels. We were impressed with the apartment, although we might recommend to Anne and William to supply a toaster to avoid having to use the big grill in the cooker. We were mindful of trying to conserve energy, particularly since fuel prices in Turkey right now are excessive, and petrol is even more expensive than it is at home. On top of that, the unprecedented summer temps (lows for us 36 degrees and highs of 43 - apparently it hit 47 degrees further inland) really made us think about how vital resources can be. So just a thought. Kalkan itself a very lovely place to be, extremely relaxed. People were just great, mellow, helpful. Lots of places to eat, and we would definitely recommend Oz Adana for a takeaway lamb wrap and pizza (it's the place nestling on the corner of the main road - out if the apartment down to the main road, turn left then first right). Delicious!! The swimming pool was very nice indeed, although it does have a uniform depth so I couldn't touch the bottom (but then I'm only 5'3''). My son (aged 5) had his arm bands on most of the time, until he learned to swim just towards the end of the holiday. I suppose just like any other time you are around water with kids, you just have be sensible and keep your eye on them, but your kids, unless they are basketball stars in the making certainly won't be able to stand up in the pool. We would definitely approach Anne and William again if were to think about returning to Kalkan for a holiday, which is, experience considered, highly likely indeed. We've had a superb time at the apartment and look forward to returning there. |

Super villa very clean and airy with wonderful views over Kalkan. Peaceful location great for the children. The walk down into Kalkan is okay but after just one attempt we never attempted to walk back up again - taxis were very cheap and easy to get. Would definitely visit again. |
