Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 9
The property is just perfect for families, as there is a walled, secure garden around the property, and is set in a cul-de-sac location. Right opposite are olive groves and a children's play area. Inside, the villa is spacious and has a homely feel to it. It is well stocked and we've tried to think of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, such as free wi-fi, DVD player with a selection of DVD's, TV, books and an ipod docking station. All rooms in the villa are fully air-conditioned.
The master bedroom has a decorative wooden ceiling, large dressing area and is en-suite. It also has a balcony.
The second double bedroom is also en-suite, and has a balcony overlooking the olive groves and play area.
The third en-suite bedroom is unusual as it has a double bed, single bed, sofa bed and cot! So for kids of all ages or another family, this is a great space! There is also access to the two roof terraces from this room.
Outside is the private swimming pool, surrounded by sunbathing terraces. To the rear of the villa is a large grassed garden which is great for the children, together with a swinging chair in the shaded area. There is a lot of outside space to this property.
Although not the greatest sea views, from the bedrooms and roof terrace they are open and not blocked by other buildings directly in front. The villa is set in a quiet area of Kalkan called Kalamar, with a grocery shop, cafes and restaurants all within a few hundred yards. The centre of Kalkan is about a 15 minute walk away, or a taxi would cost around £3.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan is one of the nicest holiday destinations along this part of the coast line, and has been quoted in the Sunday Times as one of the "10 best views in the world". With guaranteed weather for 300 days of the year, and a Blue Flag Award pebble beach surrounded by lush green mountains what is there not to like. Kalkan is uniquely situated along the Lycian Way so for anyone interested in walking, there are a number of self-walk routes or guided walks along the route. Patara Beach is about 10 mins away by car or bus which is 17 kms of sandy beach with various Roman ruins as a backdrop which you can walk around at your leisure. Kaputas Beach is also about 10-15 mins away and is a small but popular cove beach. The next nearest town along the coast is Kas which is about 30 mins away, and the bigger town of Fethiye is about 45 mins away. You don't need a car as there are plenty of local buses which are air-conditioned and cheap and will take you to most places.
Formerly a small fishing village, Kalkan unlike many other resorts has retained its charm and character which is its main attraction. Kalkan mainly attracts couples or families with older children, and is suitable for anyone who is looking for rest and relaxation. As well as the local pebble beach, there are a number of beach clubs with full facilities and steps directly into the crystal clear warm seawater. So you can either top up the tan in peace, or get out there and enjoy the watersports. Horseriding, canoeing, scuba diving and gorge walking are all available locally, as well as local boat trips which are a must for anyone wanting to relax on the open water.
As the sun goes down, most people head into the small, quaint centre to browse the boutique style shops and eat in the many many restaurants. The food in Kalkan is simply out of this world and with views to die for either along the harbour front or on the many roof top terraces, you'll be in heaven. Night life is limited to a few tasteful bars, each catering for different age groups. But for anyone who's never experienced Turkey before, the hospitality of the Turkish people is second to none. So whether you're looking for a holiday around the pool or something more energetic, there is something for everyone in Kalkan.
