The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The Lycian coast of Turkey stretches from Fethiye all the way to Kemer, Antalya, where ancient Lycian route can still be found. Lycian route is rich in archeological finds, ruins and remains of ancient civilizations.
Kalkan is a beautiful harbour resort surrounded by breathtaking scenery at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. The village retains an authentic Turkish feel with winding streets, colourful shops and an abundance of restaurants and bars.
Kas, 25 minutes drive east of Kalkan, is a beautiful natural harbour town with winding streets and many shops and a market. Here you can go swimming with dolphins too.
Nearby Kaputas Beach, is a dramatic white beach bordering a seductive turquoise sea. This is also a favourite stop for boat trips. The renowned Patara beach (20 km. long) is a 20 minute drive - home of protected turtles and noteable Roman remains.
Other interesting local sights such as Lettoon, Xanthos, Tlos, Patara and the Saklikent Gorge are easily accessible for a days outing, and are well worth the effort.
LOCATION OF VILLA, KILSA
Kalkan is a popular tourist, albeit retians its original charms & white-washed houses. Devolopment in Kalan has brought a vibe the town, however is far from a mass tourism destination. Recently descriptions include; The Guardian compares the town to the Italian Riviera - "minus the poseurs", and the Sunday Times has claimed Kalkan would appeal to those who enjoy Tuscanny or the Dordogne.
Kisla is a district of Kalkan to the left hand side of the bay directly facing the sea and with some of the most stunning views one can experience in Kalkan. There are several beach clubs in Kisla, mostly for public use and all with great facilities. Kisla is some 15-20 minute walk to Kalkan Harbour and an easy walk too.
Within approximately 5-10 minutes walk is the Villa Mahal, an acclaimed hotel with restaurant and beach club for both residents and non-residents. There is also a boat service from here to Kalkan harbour. Local beaches include Kaputas, Kisla Beach, Mahal, Club Patara Prince, Palm Beach, Kalkan Harbour and Kalamar bay. Bob's cafe/minimarket is 2 minutes away and will deliver take-aways, water etc. The centre of Kalkan takes 5 minutes by car/taxi, or a walk of about half an hour. Patara Prince has a spa with a free car collect and return. Palm Beach/Kalamar Beach both offer free car collect and return service.
Watersports. Three beach clubs offer waterskiing, scuba diving and other water sports. Hang gliding is also now available locally.

Myself and my partner stayed here for a week in October. The villa is just fabulous, so tastefully decorated and very spacious, everything you need is here. The views from this villa are just beautiful, especially from the roof terrace, you are so close to the sea.
The maintenance staff were lovely and friendly, the villa pool and terrace areas were cleaned daily and we also had a mid-week internal clean.
You can walk down to the beach club within a couple of minutes and from here you can also take a boat taxi across to Kalkan town for an excellent choice of sea front and roof-top restaurants.
Very close to the villa (a five minute walk) will take you to the fantastic Villa Malhal hotel and restaurant. The setting and the food quality of this restaurant is without a doubt the best in Kalkan. Tim the villa owner recommended this restaurant and we are very glad he did. We went twice, the second time we were seated right on the sea front, it was superb. It is unlikely you will get a seat without a reservation so booking in advance is advisable.
Tim the owner could not have been more helpful, with great communication before, during and after our stay. A week was not long enough, it will be 2 weeks next year and would love to stay here again.
Many thanks Tim for a wonderful stay.

"Fantastic holiday !"
We had an amazing holiday at Villa White Lycia , and I cannot wait to return ! It was our 2nd visit to Kalkan and we found the location of this villa perfect for us , we had a car and we able to get into the centre of Kalkan easily within 10 minutes. The Villa was beautifully decorated and at night there was a wonderful ambience with the various candles lit , sitting on the balcony looking out across the bay.The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the pool and surrounding terraces are attended to daily, it was immaculate. We had young teenagers with us ,ages 13-16 and Kalkan is a perfect destination for that age group, with the nearby beach clubs to visit offering water sports , hammocks and a trampoline in the sea ! The choice of restaurants in town is superb and most of them very reasonably priced, the only difficulty was which one to choose !! We visited Patara Beach which a 'must do' but would recommend going late afternoon when it is cooler, there is great surf there and the kids loved it. We also went to Saklikent Gorge , for the 2nd time and still enjoyed it just as much, another great one for the kids , as after the hour or so walk thought the gorge you can go on ringos down the river which takes about 45 mins, such a laugh! Another great day was the boat trip, unfortunately the one suggested previously on reviews was full so we went on 'muddy boat' ,I can also highly recommend this, the food prepared in the tiny kitchen was amazing , and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly . Thank you so much to Tim for allowing us to experience your lovely villa, as stated in all previous reviews your efficient handling of our booking and attention to detail made the whole process so simple and stress free. Hopefully we will be back !!

"An amazing time in a stunning villa located in a beautiful cove"
We arrived late at night to be greeted with the keys and an introduction to the stunning villa.
Our mornings were spent at 3 of the local beautiful beaches all offering something different in the way of surrounding ruins, amazing sand or pebbles (which actually the girls preferred) -the waters were just incredible in clearness and colour - it was all totally stunning and we were never let down by the weather - sunny, hot and perfect! We also took day trips out to various ruins, markets, kas and kalkan with the evenings spent eating in the harbour of Kalkan - using the boat service at the local beach club to arrive and return - it was all totally idyllic and extremely beautiful.
An amazing holiday we will never forget - everything everyone could want with a bit of history by way of the impressive ruins thrown in for my children to enjoy..and that's not forgetting the great pool that they also loved!
Thanks Tim & Bec's so much, for our truly memorable and wonderful holiday!

From start to finish we have had a great holiday in this lovely home. We were a family of 4 (2 teenagers) and we had more than enough room to find our own space. The house is tastely furnished and w… More

"Stunning view and a lovely house"
We stayed two families in this lovely house. It has a stunning wiew over the ocean, and the terrace on the roof was perfect for drinks in the evening. Good wi fi made the teenagers happy:) the kitchen is very well equipped, the villas interior design is tasteful and full of details that makes it nice and comfortable. All contact with the owner and Ergun hwos responseble in Kalkan is easy and service minded. You live close to the beach club and walk easily to nice restaurants. Kalkan is a magic town, nice lounges and mojitos, no sportbars. Beautiful beaches in short distance as Patara. If you like activitys like we do you can do horse riding, canoing and canyon climbing. We higley recommend the villa!

"I wish I could say something bad!"
If I could, I would say that everything was perfect. That the landlord, Tim Bowring, made everything great. If I could I would say that the White Lycia Villa was astonishing and that Kalkan is definitely an ideal destination for a great Holiday in Turkey.
People in Kalkan are so kind, prices are so reasonable, the sea water so clean, the sun so certain (15 days in a row of sunshine), the spots to visit so many and so various.
If I could I would strongly recomend it. But I cannot, because I am afraid someone, next year, will book it before us!

"Fantastic villa, fantastic holiday!"
We stayed in Villa White Lycia for two weeks in August 2012. We were a party of eight, two families each with two children, and we were accommodated really comfortably. The villa is well furnished and equipped in every aspect, including bedding, bath and pool towels as well as the kitchen. The pool is super, and is cleaned daily. Tim was really helpful prior to our trip, in advising on taxis to meet us and take us to Kalkan from the airport (approx. 90 minutes), boat trips (we can recommend Capt. Ali on "Anil") and other useful tips. The villa is located in Kisla, and is just a short trip across the bay by water taxi from Kalkan, from the beach club just two minutes walk away. Kalkan itself is super, with plenty of great bars and restaurants, and interesting shops. And we have to comment on just how friendly and welcoming the local people were; we had a fabulous holiday, and would certainly consider going back again.

"Lovely White Lycia"
The owner, Tim, went above and beyond to organize everything from airport transportation to a spectacular, private boat trip around the island. He has great taste in food, people and property, so we were really treated to the best that Kalkan has to offer.
The house is located within walking distance to two really gorgeous restaurants in the area and a five-minute walk to the water taxi to Kalkan centre. We drank wine on the balcony at sunset every night (gorgeous elevated view of the ocean) and just loved every minute of our stay at White Lycia. I did not want to leave but look forward to my next stay there.

"Exceptional villa with fantastic views"
A perfect place to relax after our pretty hectic travel schedule of the previous weeks.
Villa White Lycia is exceptionally well fitted out making it easy to enjoy your stay. All four bedrooms are large and have their own bathroom making it the perfect place for groups of friends to stay. The views from the villa across Kalkan Bay, especially at sunset, certainly set the relaxed ambience this villa oozes. Drinks at sunset from the top floor balcony are a must. Tim's (owner) recommendations were all excellant - from the day trip on Anil boat with Ali, which was a highlight of our stay, to dinner at nearby Villa Mahal where you are seated to enjoy the sunset and local cuisine just above the waters edge on your own private ledge.
The Turkish people are super friendly. Sukru (maintenance man) who came twice daily to water and attend the pool met us at the villa upon our late arrival and was always bright and cheery and willing to help wherever he could.
Whilst it was very hot during our stay we were more than comfortable with the pool and plenty of shade and air conditioning throughout the villa.
The villa has full cooking facilities but there are a multitude of places to eat (both cheaply and more up market) nearby or a short drive away.
Thank you Tim for all you help and swift communication to any of our queries. Villa White Lycia is a credit to you and we hope to return again one day to enjoy all it has to offer.
