The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Kalkan is a small, sophisticated village. The surrounding area has grown over the past years but the village itself remains the same. It is renowned for it's cuisine, restaurants and above all the friendliness and politeness of the people. During the day Kalkan has a laidback relaxed atmosphere which changes to an air of sophistication and people-watching by night. The hot sunshine becomes balmy as the evening draws in. As the lights of the village come on so too does the magic of Kalkan.
There are many historical sites close to kalkan. All are listed in the detailed information provided in the Villa. Patara Beach is well worth a visit in the months of April, May, September and October. During the high summer months of June, July and August it can be too hot to visit. Try instead, Kaputas Beach, a short Dolmus ride with stunning scenery. The beautiful turquoise waters have to be seen to be believed. Further on is the town of Kas which is larger than Kalkan. The drive from Kalkan to Kas is truly beautiful. The surrounding villages are well worth a visit as are the trout farms especially during the hot summer months.
