Further details outdoors

Our "Daybreak" apartment is the penthouse of the apartment block, overlooking on one side the impressive shared swimming pool (which is surrounded by sun terraces with allocated sun-loungers and parasols)... all the apartments have allocated sun-loungers and parasols, and the pool is more than large enough to accommodate everyone (even if all the apartments are occupied, which is not always the case)... so NO fighting over sunbeds here!

There is a supermarket almost next door for essential provisions and a patisserie just over the road for fresh breakfast rolls and pastries etc, together with a pharmacy and a doctor's surgery within a couple of minutes; the nearest restaurant is also within two minutes' walk. Kalkan old town is just a five minute walk down a gentle slope.

You can work off any excesses at the gym behind the supermarket (fully air-conditioned, of course) and then take a luxurious Turkish bath, all in the same complex. Perfect relaxation, all within a minute's walk.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

At the centre of the Lycian region, Kalkan is well placed for visiting many historical sites such as Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos, Patara, Kekova (the Sunken City), Demre, Myra, Phaselis, Olympos, Aspendos and the Saklikent Gorge.

Kalkan

Kalkan is friendly, warm and charming, with an assortment of cosmopolitan restaurants and bars, many with rooftop terraces and superb views, crammed between boutiques and shops in amongst the cobbled streets. The locals are very welcoming and the whole town has a unique feel that attracts visitors back year after year. Most holidaymakers you meet in Kalkan have either been before... or, if it is their first time, they vow to return soon!

Kalkan is relatively quiet by day - most holidaymakers choose either to relax by the pool, or go to one of the many beach clubs; maybe take a boat trip, or go sightseeing, or just browse the many shops and boutiques in the cobbled streets. All very relaxed! However, the town and harbour area come to life after sundown, when the bars and restaurants (we believe there are over 100, but who's counting?) open up and offer their hospitality.

The food here is legendary; always of a high standard - thanks to the healthy competition - and the menus are extremely varied, from traditional Turkish recipes to international high cuisine; using fresh local produce and always prepared with tender loving care. These guys are very proud of what they do, and they do it very well!

We've never yet met anyone who doesn't love the place.

In the year 400 BC, Herodotus said of Kalkan: “It is the closest place to the stars on Earth” and, according to rumour, one who drinks from Kalkan Spring can never leave…we don’t actually know if the Spring still exists, but it is easy to see why the rumour has persisted. One visit and you are hooked!

"perfect in every way for family with teens"

We like to use apartments rather than villas as long as the pool is large and the usage is small - in other words we like peace and quiet and the feeling of exclusivity and this was certainly the case with Daybreak. Martyn and Fiona could not have been more welcoming but not intrusive. Their attention to detail and cleanliness in the apartment could not be faulted. The top terrace is amazing - dining with views out to sea one way and the lovely wooden canopy and views of town and the bay from the other - especially enjoyed our Pimms there before enjoying the vast choice of restaurants Kalkan offers. Our party had plenty of space - two couples in the bedrooms, and two teenage girls on very large and comfy sofa beds with lots of space for their clutter. It was truly relaxing - the teens enjoyed late returns from the club, we enjoyed early trips on the dolmus to Xanthos and Kas and 3 days car hire gave us sufficient time to enjoy other sites, trout restaurant atIslamlar for lovely peaceful lunch, Saklikent Gorge (glad we arrived at 10 as crowded on way back down). A very big thank you to Martyn and Fiona for a wonderful holiday ticking all the boxes for a family with teenagers - on our own we would come back out of season!

Thank you so much! Nice to know we are appreciated... and you know we will welcome you with open arms whenever you want to return :)

"Lovely clean and spacious apartment with a great pool area and very friendly people."

We were really impressed with all aspects of the holiday from booking to transfers to the accommodation. Fiona and Martin were great to deal with. They booked fantastic transfers for us and met us at the apartment even though we arrived after midnight. The apartment was really clean with excellent new bedding and towels.
We had loads of space and enjoyed the top floor location. Two balconies and large kitchen and lounge gave us plenty of space. We had a problem with an air con unit which was dealt with swiftly and Fiona cleaned our apartment and changed the beds to make up for it. The pool area was gorgeous..really clean and well looked after..and a good breeze to cool down and plenty of shade.
We loved Kalkan..great people..no hassle..excellent food at all the places we tried and plenty of real little shops for everything from groceries to jewellery.
The Market was excellent..went on all day..and we tried a boat trip on the Sea bella. Friendly family run..excellent food and nice people.
We'd love to go back and would definitely stay there again.

Thank you... we really enjoyed having you here and look forward to seeing you again soon.

"Brilliant holiday"

Did a lot of research before deciding on this accommodation and we got exactly what we thought.. Excellent location, well maintained, comfortable apartments which suited my wife and I and my elderly mother. We had the use of the facilities of the apartment and adjoining Nur hotel if we wanted them but were also close enough to all the shops and restaurants of the resort for all 3 of us to be able to walk to them. The staff of the Nur hotel were very friendly and extremely helpful. We were in the top floor "Daybreak" apartment which afforded excellent 360 degree views, also the layout and size of the apartment meant that we could have our own space and privacy from my mother if required. There was live entertainment in the hotel 2 nights a week if you wanted it which attracted both holidaymakers and locals alike, but the soundproofing was excellent if you wanted an early night and you couldn't hear anything in the apartments. We would definitely recommend the "Atlantis Wellbeing Centre" based in the shopping centre across the road from the apartments, we had a Turkish bath there on our first night in the resort which really relaxed us in preparation to enjoy our holiday.

Thanks for the review.. we appreciate you taking the trouble to do it!

"We'll be back!!"

We've just returned from Daybreak apartment in Kalkan and have already booked for next year. The apartment is lovely and the views are stunning. The guys at the Nur Hotel bar kept us entertained. Our idea of a holiday is all day spent lounging by the pool, reading and having the occasional cold beer. The location is only a couple of minutes from the town and all the restaurants; no steep hills to climb or taxis to pay for. I can't recommend the apartment or the resort enough if you enjoy a quiet resort and good food.

Thank you so much! This is our first season with Daybreak apartment and, due to delays in the buying process, it was a bit of a headache getting everything ready in time for the season... we are so pleased you had an enjoyable holiday there... that makes all the effort worthwhile!
