The villa is now in it's third year of rental has all modern conveniences including Air Conditioning. It is situated on a vantage point midway between these 2 bays on the mediterranean and gives magnificent views of both. Kalkan is a small peaceful fishing village on the Mediterranean, ideal for couples on a romantic holiday or families wishing to avoid the pitfalls of mass tourism. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Taurus mountains, it occupies possibly the most beautiful position along Turkey's stunning Lycian coast. It has managed to achieve a lively cosmopolitan air in the summer with it's vibrant bars and restaurants whilst retaining it's old fashioned Turkish charm and hospitality.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The Mediterranean coast of Turkey has an impressive 300 days of sunshine every year so you're almost guaranteed perfect cloudless skies during your summer holiday here. The season generally runs from May to October but it can be equally fabulous in April and November. The temp rises to the mid 40s in July and August with a more comfortable mid 30 degrees C May, June, September and October. This area of Turkey is part of the ancient kingdom of Lycia with the Lycian Way running through it, consequently the region is stuuffed with reminders of a bygone age - amphitheatres, mausoleums, ancient cities and sacred sites.
Kalkan area
Once an old Greek fishing village called Kalamiki, Kalkan is now a vibrant resort for those in search of more than just sea and sand. Although Kalkan offers sun drenched-beaches and wonderful azure blue waters, it is rich in traditional charm and has an abundance of local ancient history. This is an ideal destination to explore the surrounding famous archaeological sites, like the Lycian ruins at Patara, Letoon and Xanthos. Just 8k away is the world famous Patara Beach - 10 miles of unspoilt golden sands in a protected and shallow bay backed by sand dunes, a pine forest and the roman ruins of the ancient city of Patara. Day trips include horse riding on the dunes, Kayaking, jeep safaris, island hopping in one of Kalkans' many Gulets for hire or a trip to Saklikent Gorge and the trout farms.
How to get there
Fly to Dalaman from most UK Airports from £80 return. Transfer under 2 hours. We can arrange for approx £10 per person. Local car hire contact. We can arrange for approx £23 per day inc. Car not necessary as everything in walking distance plus cheap and plentiful taxis.

Further details indoors: Villa Caretta is set over 3 floors. Ground floor - One double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with walk in shower and toilet, second twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with walk in shower and toilet. Both bedrooms have direct access to the swimming pool, patio and garden. Middle floor - Front door, hallway - door leading to double aspect living room with 2 balconies, working fireplace and satelite TV. Fully fitted kitchen leading to outside terrace with dining area. On the same floor there is also a toilet and laundry room. Top Floor - Master Bedroom with en suite walk in shower and large balcony. This floor also has a large rooftop terrace with exceptional views of Kalkan and Kalamar Bay. Because of the unstable water system in Kalkan, Villa Caretta benefits from having a 50 tonne water storage tank to ensure that you never have to suffer water shortages.
Further details outdoors: Apart from the 5x3meter pool there is a large sun terrace with 6 sunbeds and umbrellas. Seating for 6 persons at terrace table. A barbeque is providedalong with a selection of pool toys - inflatables etc. The garden is stocked with tropical and indigenous plants with a large area of lawn.

The front door of the villa is reached by a short flight of stone steps from the parking area. This is at the end of a small road leading to the olive groves and maquis vegetation of the National Park area of Kalkan. Villa Caretta is in a quiet position and is not overlooked by other properties.
Conditions
The villa owner, Metin, will be on hand to help arrange any tours or answer any questions about the villa itself or the area in general. As he owns a local car hire, he can also arrange reduced rates for hire and airport transfers.

We stayed in Villa Caretta for 2 weeks in August 2005. The Air Con was a godsend and the villa beautifully and simply furnished. Vicky and Metin were always on hand when we needed anything and nothing was too much trouble. Thankyou. The Greens, Plymouth, UK.
